Hi all!

Doing something a bit different for the mid-month post here. It's off-cycle and outside my series books, so I wanted to open it up to all tiers just for funsies. I took a couple days off from PMF 7 to get this done because this story was scratcing and clawing out of my brain. I hope that's okay. PMF 7 is still going and growing. :)

Better Magic is a revision of a story I posted here this summer under the title of Vocational Shift. (I wasn't crazy about that title but hadn't come up with anything, well, better.) It's an urban fantasy sexytimes-adventure that very much blends the themes of a couple of my other books. As I said in the summer, sometimes I look back at a project and think, "What if I had gone in a different direction here?" Better Magic indulges that thought, like a somewhat more adventurous Great Power and No Responsibilities, or a much hornier Grand Theft Sorcery. Maybe not the most original thing I could do, but hey, it's fun.

The first chapter got some positive responses, along with the fair critique that the en media res opening was perhaps too abrupt. This entry brings us in with more of an introduction to our central protagonist, and then continues on with Chapter Two.

(If you remember the earlier version & don't want to reread everything, you might just take in the first couple pages until you start remembering stuff, and then skip to Chapter Two. There are some other changes to the first chapter but you probably don't need them to enjoy the new stuff.)

Quick points:

-Full document is just under 17,000 words.

-Explicit sexy times of a wish-fulfilment nature ahead

-No, this is not going to push PMF 7 back and isn't likely to become a front-burner project. Never Too Many will continue whenever I have the bandwidth, too.

-I'm not sure if this ever becomes a published book. It might work best as a Literotica series. But you're my patrons and supporters and I wanted you to have first looks regardless.

-And also, I did another cheapass amateur Shutterstock cover!

Feedback is appreciated as always. If you want more of this story, PLEASE let me know! And thank you SO MUCH to you all for being here!

Unrelated but perhaps I missed you mentioning it previously, are you planning to do a follow on for Hot Restart? I adore Good Intentions and your other urban fantasy works but your sci-fi is my favorite.

I found you from the Tanner books and they will always be my 'I want more' series. But, one of the best parts of being on this Patreon, is getting to see these smaller projects. I am 100% here for anything you write and I definitely want more of this and Never too Many.

The sentence about then Korean grandmother in the terminal needs to be adjusted to reflect the new intro. I really like this story. Chapter 2 Should be “We’re not stocked” or “We haven’t restocked”. With the combo as is you need a dash or ellipses after We’re.

He didn’t send the confirmation yet. What will the reaction be when he does?

Thanks! So, polyamoristic ghost commune going on here… Unlike some other people, I thought the earlier opening worked decently, and the new opening feels a bit like Tyler getting punched and punched and punched (even if it's only for some few pages) before he hits a break.

Great first line. Also, and this is a bit off topic, apologies if you’ve answered it before, but I was wondering about your process: do you typically have one main project that you work on (right now Poor man’s fight) and then whatever side stuff fits your fancy (divine job benefits, never too many, and now better magic) when you need a break/get worn out? Or is it more complicated than that?

Really enjoyed it - especially the expansions from chapter 2.

Okay, now THIS is smut. LMAO. Just kidding... :D :) ;)
