1. How do we know that our therapist is able to cope with what we tell them? Basically I emailed her and mentioned that my dad abused me when I was younger (the first time I've really told anyone other than online) The next session she said that there was an elephant in the room, but I'm struggling to get past that. She was also probing and assumed that he had sexually abused me, which isn't the case and we are now clear on that after my session on Thursday. I do trust her, but after her reaction on thinking that I'd been sexually abused, it seemed as though she struggled with it. She wants me to talk about the abuse, but I'm scared to especially in detail not just because it's hard and painful (and I have flashbacks and dissociate) but I don't want it to effect her and that lead to her not wanting to see me anymore. I'm just so stuck. Do you have any advice?

2. I have a couple of questions around binge eating. Do you ever think that BED can sometimes be just binge eating and not about feelings? My physiatrist said that to me last week, and I my immediate thought what "you're and idiot (and in the wrong profession)!" (Luckily I have a therapist I love.)...But then I considered I could be wrong and the idiot :)

3. My second question is, what are your thoughts on overeaters anonymous for binge eating? I know that you talked about the benefits of groups with Paul Gilmartin. However, I ask because as I researched the possibility o going it seems as though OA is kind of black in white as far as abstinence goes from binge foods which seems different than intuitive eating and allowing space for all foods and not "fearing" them.  I'm curious what your thoughts are on it?
