Took my daughter to see Wicked this weekend - her idea. I read the book many years ago, never seen the musical, but knew some things. We loved it. I kept thinking how good of a job Ariana did. I never saw Kristin in it, but I could imagine her while listening to and watching Ariana because I have seen Kristin in other things. I like that she paid homage in that way while also putting her own into it. She wasn’t playing Kristin, but she did a wonderful job playing the character that Kristin originated.

I feel like Taylor wants to remind everyone how Gracie’s success is, at least in part, thanks to her. Same for Sabrina (bringing her back out to sing “Espresso”) Given the fact that Charli XCX was once an opener for Taylor and has since become one of the biggest pop stars this year—fully divorced from Taylor’s support—I’m sure Taylor wants to really get her stamp on Gracie and Sabrina. Noting that she saw potential before their rise to the top and proactively cover for possible future abandonment of Taylor from their image. We had a SWIFTIE miracle happen before N2… we live a little over an hour S of the border so we drove up w/ no tickets… just a “need tix” cardboard sign, teeny tiny budget and lots of hope! About 30 minutes before Gracie Abrams went on two SWIFTIES walked up to my husband and I outside BC Place… sold us 2 lower bowl tickets for a screaming deal! I am still waiting to wake up from this dream! ✨✨✨ I feel so grateful to have experienced it! It was amazing!!! I was fortunate to have gone in July 2023 to SEA N1 (solo) for a not so cheap resale ticket… but to get to see TTPD and experience an indoor (actually dark) concert… everything was so awesome…amazing…I loved taking my husband along to experience it all! He asked me on the way home about some of the outfits he saw… “why were two people dressed as bananas?” Ha ha! 🍌 I’m not asleep… my mind is alive! If Taylor asks you to come out for a mashup, you say YES.. no matter what the circumstances are! Not gonna lie this night…was not exciting to me. I don’t find Gracie interesting as an artist, her first album was a nice moment but her latest was the most wildly boring thing I’ve ever listened to. Not enjoying something and subsequently expressing that sentiment in a respectful manner doesn't make it "disrespectful" simply because you feel the opposite. Don't attach your frustrations about how others are talking about Taylor and Gracie's performance to Bonnie and Emily, whom succinctly addressed their acceptance of this move by Taylor while also describing why it wasn't their preference on this tonight. If you enjoyed it and are thrilled, like Taylor was, to have them sing together on this penultimate night of the tour, I'm so happy for you! Unfortunately, you're going to have to accept that there are people who aren't pleased about sharing Taylor the night before the end of the tour.

I get that if Taylor’s potentially filming another Eras Tour film she wants Gracie to be involved but felt like a strange choice for the penultimate night. Having now watched N3 too, I feel like maybe she didn’t want the final tour mashups to be too sad so steered away from her more emotional ‘goodbye’ type songs, but the mashups over all 3 nights (apart from the final N3 piano slay of course) felt like some of the weakest she’s done in a while in my opinion. Love her, but deffo some odd choices to close out such an incredible run!

I love that her fanbase has grown so much over the years, but since this tour has started & she’s dropped some re-records, I hate how so much of the fandom EXPECTS so much from her in a weird, needy way…not in a fun & excited way…but to the point I’ve seen people be HORRENDOUS over stupid 1989 combos 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ When we put expectations on Taylor we set her up to disappoint us instead of just simply enjoying what we get.

With all the polarization around Gracie I just want to share my strange journey. At first none of her songs rose to my consciousness - they all sounded the same, nothing special. Her breathy vocals and stylings also struck me as extremely annoying and I felt she’s clearly young and on a steep learning curve. BUT THEN: one night I fell asleep to Secret of Us on loop and when I awoke I was under a spell that cannot be broken! I now find the album, especially Deluxe extremely addictive!!!The songs have subtle depths and arrangements/production values are Dessner brilliant. Each song has distinctive hooks even those that are similar. I cannot figure out how that works but now can’t unhear the appeal nor recall why I was initially so unimpressed! I guess this is what Tay meant by “put narcotics into all of my songs.” I’m totally under the influence! And her performing caliber and presence is improving before our eyes. In this way Gracie parallels Tay’s career when people criticized TS like this. Anyway our reactions may have more to do with HOW we encounter new music and spend time with it. finally I would say that Tay listens to all genres and has always made discerning choices that led her to this dominant cultural moment: even acknowledging the nepo baby critique, it’s highly unlikely that she would throw her weight behind someone lacking any real talent. Conclusion: I didn’t get Gracie, now I do. She’s an old soul, Tay’s spirit daughter.

But if you’re loving Ari watch Hairspray (2007) also has the original Glinda, if you’re loving the wicked visuals watch In the Heights (2021) by the same director John M Chu, and if you’re loving Cynthia watch videos of her in The Color Purple on stage and then watch the movie 1985 or 2023 versions!

At first I was hesitant about having Gracie since it’s the second to last night but I think we need to consider Gracie opened 49 shows!!! Thats 1/3 of the tour, about as many as all of Rep tour! It’s not just a favor Taylor is doing for her, I think they’re legitimately close friends after traveling around the world together and they wanted to perform again. And I think Taylor wanted to have something with her filmed since she’s been such a big part of the experience.

I don't think they're going to redo the whole movie, because the film crew was following her around the stage most of the time this time, all three nights. Whereas for the eras film, they did one night of close up shots like that, and then two nights of farther away shots with no camera people on stage to ruin the shot. All the close up shots do make me think it's just a documentary. I hope we get a fully produced pro shot of TTPD though!!

Just because nowadays the world watches on livestreams doesn't mean that there aren't people there that night still unspoilered and just enjoying their concert. Besides wanting the music obviously, is anyone else wanting the next rerecords just so the clowning around it can stop? I think the clowning and stuff is fun to an extent, but I am kind of tired of every single thing Taylor does always needing to be dissected into some kind of easter egg or every appearance she makes maybe being some kind of potential announcement. The kind of fervor and expectations around this final weekend was a bit exhausting and I kind of feel like it takes people out of the moment a bit because of the sort of expectations she could announce something major at any moment. Morning after the last show and I’m feeling feelings. I’ve loved experiencing this tour with you both and this amazing community! You guys have added layers of fun, knowledge, friendship, perspective, silliness and more to this roller coaster ride. Going into the last show I was expecting nothing (new), hoping for something (new), and beyond grateful for anything she would give and everything she has already given to us. When it comes to the lack of announcements and outfit changes, and acoustic set choices for Vancouver; and then other ‘loose ends’ for this tour - I really hope people consider acknowledging their feelings of entitlement, disappointment, anger (to name a few), and shift them to curiosity and wonder. Because it’s ok to have unanswered questions, it’s not ok to project our expectations onto Taylor. She has given us so much, so so much and I’m excited for her (and us) for whatever is coming next! ❤️🐥

My thoughts about the last show - even though I'm sad nothing got announced it was kind of nice that it was just basically a normal show, brought everyone back to planet earth and celebrated the show for the show itself no special crazy announcements or whatever. The only thing that bummed me out was the fact she wore the same outfits all three shows, like yes I know it was for filming purposes but could she not have done that last week instead, or just filmed the first two this weekend and wore her faves for this last show? idk just my thoughts. I personally enjoyed the Gracie mashup but I can also understand preferring to have had Taylor by herself as long as it is respectful and not complaining as if Taylor owed you something else. What I’m having a hard time understanding is being upset that she wore the same outfits due to filming each night. Yes mastermind was fun and I certainly participated but what outfits she wore any particular night had absolutely no impact on my enjoyment of the concert. I also am very happy she made no special announcements and just celebrated the Eras tour itself for what an amazing wonderful achievement it is.

Sadly agree! I feel like I know Gracie more for her connections than herself. And in a way I saw that with Olivia Rodrigo at the start. Getting to use Taylor’s name is a powerful thing, especially with her blessing. I’d like to see Gracie stand on her own feet without having Taylor on a track five, and new music name dropping folks from Taylor’s ATWMV. It’s giving “they learned the plan from me” in a way where much like Olivia is more punk pop and not speaking on Taylor as much I think Gracie as a career move needs to stop tangling herself in someone else’s path. Would she be nominated for a Grammy with Us without all of us supporting her and Taylor? Not sure. But the future will tell how far she goes!

Guys, Taylor is not doing things to surprise people watching livestreams lol she’s doing it for the people in the audience and for a lot of people there that was their one and only TS show so it IS a surprise for them. It’s impossible to keep surprising people that have watched all 149 shows and tbh that’s not the common way to consume a concert. I feel like she decided to make these last 3 nights just about enjoying herself, her music and the people around her. The end of the biggest tour in history is enough of a big deal without announcements or surprises imo and the last show was a celebration of the eras tour as a whole and really emotional 🥺

Thoughts about Gracie coming back out. Taylor obviously knew it could hit people that way and that’s why the longer explanation. I feel bad honestly that she even has to explain. But as a performing artist I do want to say that you can’t constantly exist only for what your audience or your fans “think” they want. You have to stay true to you and your own heart and your own desires and needs. It can be lonely up there and Taylor deeply needed and wanted to do that mashup with Gracie. Having someone stand up there with her in the most vulnerable part of the night and harmonize with her. I feel like if you open your hearts and listen again it might actually embody much of what the Eras tour was about. Love you guys so much and thank you as always for being yourselves! 🫶🏻

I was there at Vancouver night 2 (and it was amazzzing!!!) so I thought TTPD x Maroon kinda was a goodbye cuz it reeeeally felt like she was singing to the audience, and I felt like she was looking at the audience a bit more than with the guitar song. I guess cuz she even prefaced the final chorus of Maroon cuz it felt like she wanted us to sing it back - I think she even sang it a bit slower than previous times. I took it as this tour is the legacy, we were all dancing in the stadium (with shoes though lol). That speech with Lana is so cute! I love how in-the-moment and authentic she is. And Jack really being an emotionally-safe king is just a good aide for making music, love that!

Having watched the final show, it feels like Taylor allowed herself to make decisions based on what would allow her to bask in the end of the tour. I kind of get her wanting to just do the show she knows backward and forwards, that she worked so hard to create... so that she could really live in each moment without extra brainpower going toward big surprises. As much as she gives to the fans all the time, I'm glad she felt like she could give to herself this time.

I’ve been fathoming the Vancouver shows all day and I think maybe a large part of us expected the energy of the London or Florida shows. Like a big blowout for the end, and maybe what Taylor needed was to come to a soft end - she’s tired, she’s given everything, she’s finding peace and making moments with her family and chosen family of her dancers and performers. I think overall what I’ve gathered is that she needed a moment to just be with us and grieve this loss in her busy way because when she’s done this leg and she’s alone that’s when she’ll take her moment to grieve and laugh and smile with tears. In hindsight I can see why she’s made some of the choices she has in the last shows to make it an intimate affair to the fans and to not make it about announcements and new outfits and special guests. I hope she’s curled up with a tea and rested. ♥️

I went to the final show on Sunday night, like everyone else, hoping to witness surprises in person. We ended up not being surprised much. However, I was super close to the stage and saw every dancer/ player giving their best while having tears in the eyes, I knew it was the perfect way intentionally chosen by Taylor to end the eras tour. So it was not distracted by any new projects, it was a proper good bye for all of us to remember, to process, to cherish, and to get ready for the next journey she takes us onto.

I love this. You could feel that energy in the live. I hoped there wasn’t a suprise bc i needed to just take it in and not be distracted by what’s next. I will miss her dancers and her team so much.

From what I've seen circulating it sounded like she kept messing up here and there throughout the show this last weekend, with lyrics and/or choreography at times. I'm betting that the ending of this tour is just too bittersweet to acknowledge more than she already had and trying to keep the surprise songs as "normal" as any other night may have been the only way she could hold it together? That's just my take on trying to understand the songs she picked and her decision to bring Gracie out. She said performing with her was very comforting and cozy so I feel like maybe she just needed that for herself to get through! :,)

Thank you for validating how many of us on discord felt about a Gracie surprise song on the penultimate night but couldn’t express without being called a hater, that it is not ‘hate’ towards Gracie to not be thrilled by another duet given the circumstances, when Taylor still had songs not even played or mashed up. Knew your reaction was going to be similar. So happy to have all your eras tour videos to rewatch whenever we need a boost of serotonin.

Taylor was in her first toxic relationship during/before her Speak Now era and narcissistic ppl will have u feeling like ur innocence is being ripped from u so her singing speak now songs makes sense to me if she looks at it in that way

I think she played a lot of speak now because it’s the least prominent era on the Eras tour thats already been rerecorded. Debut will have its moment, but speak now had the least time to shine and it’s her last chance!

Thinking about the song choices with Gracie…I wonder if it was a message to us as well. As in she loves us, she’s sorry the tour has to end. She will watch our lives in pictures as so many billions of fans will post our experience and love of this tour. Maybe it’s a stretch about us…but even on the level of what speak now means to her healing her trauma. I can imagine This tour has healed so much for her. Trauma has a way of revisiting and the situations with Matty connect with the trauma of others. And yet as a rerecord, had the fewest set list songs. I love the notion that she needed support up there as these last shows are probably so hard to hold it together. Anyway. I love you all and am grieving hard this week, always thankful for this space.
