To spew some numbers for the US, it debuted with 867k (679k pure) and outsold the rest of the Billboard 200 chart combined! If we exclude Taylor, no other artist - not even Adele - has reached those numbers since then ... The last time was Adele with her album 25 which was released in 2015

Your description of the Lover era when addressing the fear she had of no longer being in the spotlight is I think exactly why I felt so put off by many of the eras aesthetics. There were a lot of juvenile tactics used, this aggressive overly youthful projection in the ME! music video and even in the song itself. So many of Lover's songs have mature themes but there are so many that feel beneath Taylor in terms of the immaturity. Some of her live performances too just didn't feel authentic Taylor to me. The majority of that album feels so authentic, so it's interesting to me that the branding felt really forced in a lot of ways.

Loved this video! I’ve read this article many times, but there’s something about being seated while Emily reads to us and Bonny gives her thoughts on it 😊 I remember when Lover came out, I thought it was a great concept. The different kinds of love you experience, not just with a partner. Soon You’ll Get Better was so relatable to me. “Holy orange bottles” I understood that line so well. I lost my dad and then my mom 5 years later. My mom was harder because she got sick and was gone within 5 months. I sat in the hospital with her every day the last month. I would go to my car every few hours for a break. I would listen to 3 songs then go back in. (Lover was not out yet) I played songs from my iPod. To this day, those songs have a special place in my memory. Taylor is right, when someone you love is sick, you quickly learn what is important in life. Problems that you thought were earth shattering, become insignificant compared to the fear of losing someone you know you can’t live without. It makes me happy whenever I see Taylor with her mom and dad. Terrific video ladies 🫶😊

Beyond just the environment, I wonder if the process of growing her hair out after the Bleachella moment also impacted her hair changing texture and becoming straighter around this time. Bleach can do a number on your hair, and the process of growing it back out into something fully healthy can take a long while. So with all of those factors in mind, it doesn't surprise me that it took until recently for the curls and waves to start bouncing back, and even then at a much subtler level than how they were in her teens.

The wonderful thing about Taylor is that she seems like someone who would give great advice and be super supportive in a non-judgemental way, kind of what we all want in a good friend. I heard an interview with Jason where he talked about his favorite thing about Travis was that he had "great intuition," that he has helped Jason a lot during his career when he struggled with a tough situation/decision. I think Travis and Taylor both try hard to be a supportive person ("good teammate") to those around them. The conversation around happiness made me think of Brene Brown’s book, “Atlas of the Heart”. She breaks down accurately naming how we’re feeling. And names “Places we go when life is good”- Joy, Happiness, Calm, Contentment, Gratitude, Foreboding Joy, Relief, Tranquility… It’s a great read and breaks down labeling different emotions as a way to better understand our feelings and process. I think Taylor’s work is so good because it gets to those more nuanced feelings that go beyond the labels of happy or sad.

I’ve used a safety razor (ever eco) for 8 years and honestly, id never go back. The blades last forever, are insanely cheap and no plastic! I’ve also never had to replace my original razor so even more $$$ benefits. Definitely have to get used to it (fresh blades are sharp!!) but once you do you just don’t even think about going back.

I have been a swiftie since debut when she and I were both 16 and her music has helped me cope and understand literally every other aspect of life since then except being a mom. There have been so many moments in my life as a a mom where I think, man I just wish Taylor had a song about this so I could process and reflect more deeply. "Bittersweet 16 suddenly" is like that moment when nostalgia just hits out of nowhere, making you realize how fast everything has changed (like the mashup she did "And in a blink of a crinkling eye Everything has changed"). It twists the usual "sweet 16" into something more emotional, looking back on youth, love, and memories that feel both far away and super vivid at the same time. It kinda remind me of Tim McGraw when Taylor sings, "It's hard not to find it all a little bittersweet. And lookin' back on all of that, it's nice to believe" i love to think there's a connection between So High School and debut a lot like Mary's Song! i think it just takes her back to that time of her dreaming of her perfect love story.
