Taylor actually uses a lot of literary references in her songs! As a book girlie I love to pick up on these things. Some are really obvious (Romeo and Juliet, Peter, Alice in Wonderland etc.) but some are more subtle. For example, in happiness, she has several The Great Gatsby references: ”the green light of forgiveness” is very symbolic in the novel, the green light is from Daisy’s dock and symbolises his hopes for the future. And when Taylor sings ”I hope she’ll be a beautiful fool”, this is a straight quote from the novel, where Daisy says about her daughter: ”I hope she’ll be a fool — that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”

These quiz videos are so much fun!! When I took the quiz I got 90%. I missed the maple latte question, the number 1 on billboard hot 100, and the person who wrote the scarlet letter. I knew Pablo bc of the ATW10 film it says the quote with his name under it and I’ve watched it too many times lol, and I knew I look in peoples windows is her shortest song for sure bc I am a Stan of that song. This is very in the weeds, but... StL City is very predominantly liberal, but StL County is a mixed bag and definitely leans more conservative than the City. Karlie grew up in Webster Groves. That particular area of StL County is fairly mixed politically. However, in terms of what Missouri as a whole gives, the girls' assessment was spot on. Lol.

I really like Rob Sheffield’s writings about Taylor, but I hate that he always has to overly mention Karlie. His book that came out last year is so good, but why are we talking about Karlie kloss in the year 2024! also, in an interview recently they mentioned something about the fact that Kelly Clarkson gave Taylor the idea to do the re-records and he got SO offended because he had never heard that.
