I think people have fathomed but if not RE: Sabrina's album cover: "Man's Best Friend" is a dog, female dogs are also called B!tch, the album cover is her in a "doggy" pose -- the man is pulling her hair which is interesting to show how men treat women vs how they'd actually treat a dog. Just a guess, but I think there'll be a lyric where she's called a b!tch and she clarifies that that's man's best friend.

That being said, Ethel Cain just released a new album (that’s a prequel to Preacher’s Daughter) so that might be a more accessible entry point to her music if you wanted to try again ☺️

Ya'll, there's so much history, culture, and beauty to see in America! If you want to stay on the East Coast, I'd highly recommend checking out Boston (you could stop in Salem where there's lots of witchy history!) and go up to Maine and Vermont. Have you ladies watched Crash landing on you? It's a kdrama on netflix and it's funny, dramatic and has some romance. I recommend this show to everyone because it honestly has everything. If you're not used to kdrama I feel like you need at least 2 episodes to get used to the acting. Also Emily if you like The OC's music (that show influenced so much of my taste in music!) I would highly recommend listening to Sam Fender. His song Seventeen going under is amazing and he released his second album this year which is so incredibly good.

I was really disappointed, but I think that It was bc, for me, GoT main attraction was the Stark family, their journey, the dismantling, the quest for survival, the reunions and their future. I guarantee you that if there was a sequel or prequel that followed ANY of them I would love it.

TV recs: - DOWNTON ABBEY: ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA, no matter the time, season, weather or company, it’s always good. - YELLOWSTONE (like Immediately) - 1923 (Yellowstone prequel can be watch independently, and season 1 is AMAZING, season 2 is soooo slow and devastating, but Spencer and Alex are worth it) - Brothers & sisters (a bit older but it’s the GREATEST family drama) - Nashville: country music juicy drama - medical drama: ER (old, long and great) and the Pitt (hard and amazing) - political drama: the west wing (the best dialogue ever in tv, and amazing cast of character but it’s not lighthearted except for some comedic moments) and Madam secretary -rewatch worthy (old millennial teen shows that make for a god rewatch and not a cringy one): the OC (iconic) and One tree hill (the cringe level depends on my mood but it’s tolerable and Naley are worth it).

As a millenial - who also happens to have much younger siblings from 2005 and 2009 - I have to disagree on so much of this 🫣 Ofc there will always be people that (often bc of their own personal interest) knows pop culture etc. from before they were born. My brother from 2005 listens to the same music as me and knows alllll the classics from even before I was born. My sister from 2009 knows absolutely NOTHING (Music, TV, big historical events etc.) from before her own generation except for the few 80s artist our parents have always listened to and the things she remembers from school 😅 She is very much an “iPad/Tik Tok” kid/teen - and our parents are from the 60s/70s. So no, “we” millenials didn’t invent iPad kids either. My kids watch much less iPad than my sister did at their age 10 years ago (I don’t even know what generation our parents are, but def not millenial) 🙈 But yes, millenials also happened to become parents while these things were invented and are trying our best to not let it ruin our kids childhoods but at the same time not keeping them from being a part of what their friends are doing - or them using iPads in school for education. But good luck to all the next generations raising kids in this world - I hope you learn from our mistakes then, as no one truly knew how to navigate kids and technology, SoMe etc. before we tried (and probably failed, but learned from it)🙏🏼 I would much prefer my kids grew up like I did in the 90s, but since we can’t change that we do the best we can. Btw I don’t think assuming that someone who was born after a certain movie came out doesn’t know it is rude? I wouldn’t expect my sister to know what I know, bc I don’t know what my patents know either. Her having heard of the Backstreet Boys doesn’t mean she KNOWS them like me and my husband does. Just like I truly don’t try to claim to know/understand what she is listening to today even though I “know” which artists she listens to 😅 I know some millenials are fans of Olivia, but I feel too old - I know I would’ve loved her at my sisters age though. Generations being different, knowing different things and having different taste bc of where they are in life isn’t a bad thing 🫶🏼

I love the refathomings but 149 shows are A LOT, so maybe just do some dates, important relevant ones or rare or intriguing song combos. Aaabsolutely agree about preacher’s daughter. It just gets to a point 😭😭 As for Sabrinas album cover I can see why people are upset. Until the music or other content makes the critical element obvious then it’s not satire. If people aren’t recognizing it as satire then it stops functioning as such (even though I think Sabrina intended it to be satirical.) The songs aren’t out yet, and I’m for sure curious. But ppl are recognizing a pattern in her music that makes them think this subject might be too heavy for the way she branded herself and her music. Some of the criticism is just from people who have been waiting for her to fail, but let’s not forget Sabrinas always been sex-positive!! Especially at the height of her career (Bed chem, Juno pose trend.) The real issue at least for me is the imagery like the hair pulling and her kneeling on the ground. To me it’s just recycled power dynamics built on a long lineage of violence and control of women’s bodies. It really is not a delightful image 😅😅 I do think people are jumping the gun and I have full faith that even Sabrina understands we don’t need to relive these tired tropes

When Bonny was talking about Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's breaking up and writing songs about each other and how their situation-ship went on for a LONG time and were "soulmates" and muses for each other's songs, it very closely resembles how Taylor must've felt about her relationship with Matty. hey bonnie & emily!! i would love for you to react or breakdown Preacher’s Daughter. i would be more than happy to answer any questions!! i have included a very short simple description on what the story entails, what she’s trying to say and just the general ideas that each song represents. i’m a swiftie since 2014 and nobody has ever came close to her songwriting skills, until Ethel Cain so I really suggest you have a read! let me know what you think :)!! thanks for all you do. ❤️ track 1, Family Tree (Intro) focuses on her relentless desire to escape religion. it is kind of a background story that gives you some information on the generational trauma she suffered and how she has lost faith in God & religion. track 2, American Teenager, is when the story officially begins. it talks about the difficulties she were faced with being a teenager - ‘I wrote this song as an expression of my frustration with all the things the 'American Teenager' is supposed to be but never had any real chance of becoming.’ - Hayden (Ethel Cain) track 3 is about her first love. The song, A House In Nebraska is about Ethel’s & Willoughby Tucker’s love. their love didn’t last long as he ended up dying, putting a lot of pressure on Ethel’s mental state. Ethel loved Willoughby more than any other guy she had met & mourns him deeply. track 4, Western Nights, is about Logan. Logan is a guy that Ethel becomes close with after the death of Willoughby. Logan is physically & mentally abusive to Ethel and takes advantage of her greatly. Ethel, however, stays with him regardless of the abuse. Logan, whilst robbing a bank (for the 100th time), is shot by police and dies but Ethel manages to escape as his accomplice. She is now on the run. track 5, Family Tree, is a continuation from track 1 but also talks about the way she is feeling after what just happened with Logan. She reflects on all the abuse she has encountered since she was a child and the next track, Hard Times, enlightens the listener on one of the most traumatic experiences she endures. track 6, Hard Times, is a song about the sexual abuse she suffered by her father. It’s a really upsetting song - ‘a little girl who needs her daddy, real bad’ - ‘in the corner of my birthday, you watched me’ makes me cry everytime. track 7, Thoroughfare, is the story of Ethel meeting Isaiah on the thoroughfare as Ethel is currently on the run from the cops regarding the robbery. She is picked up on the thoroughfare by Isaiah and they travel. track 8, Gibson Girl, is when things take a turn. Isaiah is pimping Ethel at a strip club and is supplying her with dr*gs. track 9, Ptolemaea links in with tracks 10 & 11, August Underground & Televangelism which are instrumental tracks that represent Isaiah chasing Ethel through the woods trying to kill her. Isaiah eventually gets to her and stabs her repeatedly and she has died. track 12, Sun Bleach Flies, is Ethel reflecting on her life after death. It’s a really important and meaningful song. She links back to Nebraska and her longing for Willoughby, the only guy who ever treated her right. track 13, Strangers, is the final song and portrays disturbing acts. Isaiah has put Ethel’s body in a freezer and he eats her body. She longs for her mother in this song after dying and says she will meet her when she gets here.

I watched another reactor’s reaction, and not only could I not connect with the songs, it was too dark and heavy for my soul. but I will say it was beautiful music. Also, there are a few Taylor songs I didn’t think I liked, and then one day I loved it, and it becomes so hard to believe I would skip it.

I actually did not perceive Matty’s mother’s comment in that way. I think it was some frustration that she is probably legally bound by NDAs or whatever not to speak about Taylor and then perceived the fact that Taylor wrote a whole album as hypocrisy but also as a lack of chance for Matty to tell his side of the story.
