I think her Easter egging Rep just means that after Life of a showgirl - the next thing you will get after showgirl era is done or slowing down - Rep vaults will be the next thing not TS13. I think she wants to give this album the full press release and so I don’t think it will be until next year but the next thing we get - I think will be Rep. but I just want to enjoy this album and hate all the Rep talk because she is excited about this project so that is where our focus should be now.

Wood makes me think of a song by an Australian folk band I grew up listening to, Jigzag, with Liz Frencham's song Man of Wood. She sings about how all these other men of steel and of silk (macho men and smooth charming men) have tried to woo her, but she always comes back to her man of wood: her double bass. I could imagine Taylor exploring that kind of theme, like her man is made of wood because he's her willow/oak and grounds and supports her etc. Food for thought! But then because it's the shortest song it might actually just be a cute lil horny vibe, I dunno. I think Honey will probably be a sweet romantic song but I still think there's a possibility it's more "you catch more flies with honey" kinda vibe like a cross between Karma and Vigilante Shit!

I'm halfway through watching the Ophelia movie and there is a scene in the woods (they called it "the wood") where some important things happen-- Ophelia is sent to woods to collect potions and "youth tonic". And she gets a potion to fake her death (the iconic painting scene) but it's a temporary death and she is saved by Hamlet and Horacio. VERY ICDIWABH intro at Eras coded.

I always looked at it like Taylor’s songs are Belly’s true feelings, it’s part of her narration. I used to think, especially in s1, it represented her with Conrad but as the show went on it became more about her thought process without actually hearing her voice over and explicitly telling us her feelings.

Honestly, I yeah, the base TTPD is better as an album, even though The Anthology has my favorite songs, the feel of an album I think is more there for the base album! This is dangerous to say, as I know Life Of A Showgirl will be incredible, but idk if any song will ever beat Peter for me, the bridge is my favorite part of any song I’ve ever heard!

Love that your revisiting all of Taylors albums day by day. I don't remember if you once said that you don't consume other TS content but in case you sometimes do I really recommend the every single album podcast for a deep dive in each album. I'm revisiting their album by album breakdown right now. They don't analyze the songs themselves that much (no one does that better than you two and ally sheenan) but rather give pop culture context to each album and speak about the marketing side of it. I think you'd appreciate their thoughts:)

Hear me out! New album ideasssss ❤️‍🔥 1: Fate of Ophelia; the move between TTPD to new era. I escaped the fate of Ophelia from men telling me what to do and me working my life around mad men who hurt me “oh woe is me” into shining and reborn. She dives into the stage at the eras tour and comes out stronger. Same story line for Ophelia falling into the river and dying. 2: Father Figure and Eldest Daughter are a DUO: father figure will be how men have tried to lead her and her father never trying to do that and just being a father and always being there. Eldest daughter; SHE IS THE ELDEST DAUGHTER OF THE INDUSTRY. Leading the other women. That is super vulnerable and not wanting to let them down. 3: Wood is definitely knock on wood. But also no idea haha! 4: Cancelled: I think it’s Vienna. She wrote these songs during Europe. It’s like the show girl without the show and being powerless to the awfulness in the world and like mirrorball having no one to perform for is hard for her. 5: Honey: this is gonna be an EPIC love song. Honey soothes the voice and gives rests - Travis did that for his show girl after shows and during the tour. Just a few ideas ❤️❤️

On the rep TV vault convo - I honestly don't think we'll be getting it anytime soon. She wouldn't want to muddy the waters of Showgirl in terms of the marketing, message and its performance (she's def keen to break records!), and this does feel like her step into a new phase of life post reclaiming her masters/post Eras tour. If anything, I think she would surprise drop an Eras doc to bring us up to speed with her behind the scenes life to fit with the Showgirl narrative. Perhaps then drop rep TV vault (around New Year's Day?) after and then finish the re-record era with Debut TV to coincide with the 20th anniversary

Oh also, Showgirl feels like it might be the most up-to-date content-wise with where Taylor is in life atm. Midnights was looking backwards, she described TTPD as a "data dump" of her life over the last 2/3 years (and she was already dating Travis by the time she released it). I wonder whether - after so long looking backwards, with the re-records and Era's tour too - she's keen to focus solely on Showgirl as its own present, more relatable to her now moment
