HELLO BESTIES! In today's video we wanted to discuss with you the 5 songs that Taylor has chosen to support her nomination into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. VERY intriguing picks!!

yay so excited to get into this! i think the 5 she chose represent her career so well. the only one i feel like is honestly missing is wouldā€™ve couldā€™ve shouldā€™ve but i wouldnā€™t switch out any of the ones she chose. i think if the rumours are true, taylor bringing attention to TLGAD makes sense. it will probably become a huge song in her discography if she does release a movie telling that story. also it is obviously an incredibly written song and a great example of her storytelling! excited to hear your thoughts

i would have loved to see her pick ivy, but I think Taylor is about strategy, and she picked the ones that are most likely to get her in, and I think she will get in. There are some great songwriters on the list of nominees besides Taylor. David Byrne would be my second choice (from the Talking Heads), but Pink is on the list too. I think several people will get in, but I can't find any rules about how many are allowed to get in. BTW, a new Chainsmokers remix of The Fate of Ophelia dropped today, in case you have not heard. This is Taylor trying to extend her reign at the top of the Billboard charts.

We actually had a look at this a few days after filming this video, and it is public! There are some iconic songwriters and performers in there. One of the songwriters nominated is a max Martin collaborator who co-wrote (and submitted) songs by the backstreet boys and NSYNC. Also P!NK is nominated with a few of her iconic hits too!

People have been discussing these choices and tbh these make 100% sense. To be chosen for the Hall of Fame, not only must she show songwriting ability but cultural IMPACT. So it makes complete sense that she chose songs from each of her AOTY winners. And Red of course was nominated. Love Story is cultural impact, one of THE songs that people think of when they think of her. Blank Space is a masterclass at satirical writing. All Too Well is just a masterpiece AND the longest global number 1 in history. Blank Space WAS her longest #1 until Anti-Hero broke that record at 8 weeks. So, it makes sense that these two were chosen because they had spent the longest time at #1. And then TLGAD. Honestly, can we deny that it is arguably her best storytelling song? She has picked a range of songs and her best most well known songs. I agree with these 100%.

honestly, evermore needs more respect!! the album AND the title track. the song evermore speaks to my soul, as someone who has struggled with depression for several years, this song just understands me. read somewhere that the hall of fame requires the inductees to be present for the actual ceremony (i think this is in june, with the inductees being announced in december). they say to the nominees if you cant make it this year defer your submissions to when you can. which means we will def get a taylor appearance! hopefully a performance too but at least her being present for the honor!

Evermore is that girl. And listen, I saw some describe it by saying she explores pain and things ending through the whole album. Loved oneā€™s, relationships, friendships, etc donā€™t last forever. But neither does PAIN. & then the bonus tracks are a ā€œchoose your own pathā€. Stay stuck in the pain, right where they left you or realize itā€™s time to go and move on. And that explanation right there solidifies evermore as her best album conceptually and idc what anyone else says! šŸ˜­

I could honestly watch a 2 hour documentary on how Taylor picked the 5 songs for the singwriter hall of fame. I fully understand her picking one song from each of an Album Of The Year albums (Fearless, 1989, Folklore, and Midnights) - not only will those be well known and well respected, but they also are across different genres so it shows her range. I think I would have picked different songs from those albums, but the ones she picked are still solid ones and she knows better than me. And then the last song needed to be All Too Well 10.

I agree 100% that evermore is for intellectuals. Even the songs structures are so complex thanks to Mr. Aaron Dessner. I feel like the lyrics and the musical composition are definitely most appreciated by an intellectual crowd. Even more so than folklore. Which is why a lot of people donā€™t get it. Itā€™s not mainstream at all. Which is why itā€™s a perfect masterpiece.
