Oh darl, you’re preaching to the choir with The Moment I Knew.. I’ve never vibed with it. And controversially, I HATE the TV more because that chorus is grating!! It’s probably my most irrationally hateration of her discography. Come Back Be Here cleanses the soul directly afterwards.

What a treat! To me, “the other side of the door” is sort of a song about the contradiction of love because she’s saying “I’m not picking up because I’m so mad I might tell you that it’s over” and then “I said leave but all I really want is you” and talking about the things she might say but what she actually means is different. I think that it captures a really specific feeling of being upset when you know that every fight takes two and there are things that you know you’re responsible for or misreading etc.

Guyyys you need to fathom the real meaning of invisible - this came up in the comments of a video a while ago too, but not sure if you saw them. Taylor is saying that she is invisible to this boy she likes, while he is also invisible to this other girl that he likes. So it’s a chain of unrequited love and it’s commenting on how people often are infatuated with the people who don’t notice them, but at the same time they aren’t noticing the person infatuated with them, you know? Still not my favourite song, but I do think it is an interesting concept for a song!

I would enjoy your discussion of songs more if you stopped with the "who it is about" like your comment re The Alchemy for example. It's ok to say you don't connect or like a song, but to paternity test each one and tie that to the narrative feels like you are treating her life as a soap opera and that she is not a real person, just a character in one your tv rom coms. And as your recent "re-fathoming" of Midnights and other songs prove, you are mostly just making it all up in your mind.

With the other side of the door, the whole song is actually genius bc shes saying that during the fight she told him she was done and that it’s over etc but in her head she doesn’t mean it and actually wants him to fight for her. So the first verse is her describing what she said during their fight (im done) and then the story progresses to after the fight and that she wants him to come fight for her. But he can’t read her mind and he thinks she’s actually done bc that’s what she said. But the whole song is her wanting him to ignore what she actually said and to read between the lines and come get her back. Which just sounds so much like a teenage relationship.

Invisible is about how both of them are invisible to the one they want. She wants him and is invisible to him. But he wants another girl but is invisible to that other girl. So they both feel invisible to different people. She’s not saying the two of them are invisible ‘because they’re not together’. They’re invisible each in their own way because both of their crushes don’t care about them. It makes total sense if you see it like that and i think it’s a great concept for a song!

I LOVE If This Was a Movie, I was just listening to it the other day and it scratched an itch in my brain, it sounds so good! the melody is so great. Ok but hold on, I think that pink clouding deserves vibes PLUS meaning. We can discuss this more in the song breakdown but for me a beautiful example of a depth without darkness song. She is admitting to things that many people would’t say out loud, that she was a liar? That she was making promises she had no intention of keeping? That it felt good to let someone want her so she just ran with it. Her taking responsibility and singing to this experience with emotional maturity and thoughtful reflection is what’s hidden behind those catchy ass sounds and triple beats (HA HA HA) that max Martin be doing!! She tricked me with this song luring me in with the sounds but also cutting me with her honesty and I love it SO MUCH for that! 😍💗☁️

I feel like Taylor has indicated that the alchemy to her, in this present moment, is about Travis (no matter who people believe it was inspired by) so it seems like that should be accepted as a fact vs. theorizing that she had a different “father” in mind! I think the lyrics make perfect sense for Travis & not at all for Matty, but either way, she has identified the father, whether he’s biological or the father that stepped up 😂 ex: sang it to him at the 87th eras show, he has a drink named the alchemy at his restaurant etc!

Another thing with High Infidelity is that Zoe Kravitz, who worked on Lavender Haze, was in a TV show adaptation of the movie High Fidelity with John Cusak and it's about someone who works in a record store. One day I'll finally watch the show with Zoe and I'll see if I feel like the song fits the show. Glitch is one of my top 10-20 fav Taylor songs, I'm obsessed with it.
