Bonny, I had a realisation while Taylor was speaking about how people can mean something to you at a certain point in your life, disappear and then come back around years later. It’s insane to think I used to watch your vegan videos when that was such a central part of my life. Then I didn’t see you for a few years because I’d moved away from that belief system and lifestyle (not knowing u also did in that time!). And then years later having the folklore reaction video pop up on youtube and i was like hey these two look familiar! I don’t think I’d ever really stopped to appreciate just how much of a coincidence it all is. Physical media is so back! I have always had my favs on dvd, but expanding my collection in the past few years has been great to not have to rely on streaming. Also your library might have DVDs to borrow which is a great resource!

I just recently got back into dvds and restarting my collection once again after donating it years ago - I’ve been so sick of streaming and how they never have the actual films I want to watch! Also I saw a reel recently frame the fact that we don’t actually own any of the media even though we are paying for these subscriptions! Even if you purchase it on YouTube - if the website were to go down, you would no longer have that purchased media. Physical media forever - we must invest in analog!!!

I love how people are investing in analog again! I live in Seattle and we have this amazing video rental spot called Scarecrow and they have an incredible collection of dvds and vhs! Everytime I go in to rent something, it is always SO BUSY and it makes me so happy :) it reminds me so much of Blockbuster days and it’s just so nostalgic and wonderful ❤️

If debut doesn’t come out on Nov 10 then I don’t understand anything or how the world works. Because in what universe would those words spell out that sentence and it was a confidence? I don’t care that there is hahaha at the end. That’s also really specific for it to be a coincidence. When i think on how they might present the movie to her it takes me back to watching the making of Frozen. On disney plus. Movies go through so many stages they have two times when they show the movie to fellow coworkers who might have tips and have to review the movie at the end and also to kids. And they see which moments made them laugh and which didn't etc so they are always going back to the drawing board until is good enough

I think wanting an Oscar nomination could be for lots of reasons. She is so motivated, has so much drive. She likes to learn, and to master new things. And she loves to plan. I remember in a very early interview, she had just had a big win and she kind of laughed and told the interviewer she was going to enjoy the moment, and then get straight back to trying to figure out how to keep it going. I don’t think that’s changed. She consistently adds new skills to her toolbox. She’s like anyone building a career in any field, adding new accomplishments to their resume. Writing and performing, creative direction and directing, from videos to a short film. And now writing a song for a movie. An Oscar nomination could simultaneously help open up a new industry to her, and at the same time send a pointed message to the recording industry, which has failed to acknowledge her songwriting, which she considers her greatest strength, by giving her Song of the Year. And just time passing might a factor. What we want evolves. I’m old enough to have stood at a crossroads many times and refocused my time and energy. Will she always want the cycle of releasing and promoting albums? And now she’s married! Marriage is disruptive, in a good way. She and Travis now craft plans with each other in mind. Sometimes when I think of her I imagine her gazing out into her future going over her master plan. Because she’s a mastermind.

another great thing about DVDs is that a lot of newer movies only ever get released on streaming and streaming platforms don’t renew contracts for movies that don’t get good critical reception or a lot of views. so you could see an indie movie that really really impacts you and then go to show it to a loved one a year later and it’s become fully lost media that only exists on the google drive of someone who ripped it beforehand IF YOURE LUCKY

I watched the 1st Toy Story as a literal kid. Now I have 3 kids of my own. And we watched it together for the first time being all of ours first times. It hit SO hard! Because I was watching them falling in love with Jesse and having so much fun with the movie. Kid fun! The kind of fun I had. And I was watching it as a mother, an adult, thinking about the bigger meaning, the critical part about screens and active childhood disappearing. It was a great movie for me and it was a great movie for them! Educational and fun for both, in completely different ways. I loved it!! 😍

Still need to catch up on Toy Story movies ! About physical media, it was everything growing up from a select few disney WHS to first owned DVDs of favorite movies and music album! I love my music app so much but still go on scavenging hunt to second hand store to look for perfect seasonal movies (in autumn : The Dead Poet Society and Mona Lisa's smile are a must watch). Definitively worth collecting your favorites !!! A lot of 80s and 90s movie are not available on plateforms.
