Loved this as usual! On the Kanye entry, I think if she had gotten into it more she'd be writing for pages and pages. So I think she wanted to record the fact in her diary, but didn't want to drag herself through all the emotions. The Story of Us entry was definitely tea, and great job Emily in spotting it so quickly. The German town might be Schwangau, and the castle could be Neuschwanstein, which looks really beautiful. The Red entry was astonishing; she wrote two world-conquering hits in like a couple of days, it sounds like. And maybe we have no Rep diary entries because "There will be no explanation, there will just be reputation"!

so taylor sold them on her website during the lover era (they're obviously not there anymore) but I think you can still find them online on like amazon or something :)

I think for the kanye entry (and what makes sense to me at least) is that she actually did write more than what we see in this diary but didn't want to include it all when she came to release them 3 years ago because it obviously would have invited a lottt of drama and almost re-open the feud with kanye in the media. It makes sense to me that she would've written more, he completely embarrased her and I cannot imagine how shit she must've felt.. Also same for the rep era, I think all the entries were probs way too personal in so many ways (whether talking about joe or what happened with kanye and how it affected her)

i was wondering the other day if maybe doing the lover diaries sparked her interest in doing something like the midnights concept (initially) because she would’ve had to go through lots of journals and revisit past sleepless nights she wrote about to select entries. then this desire grew substantially from doing the re-records and wanting to revisit these memories with her current hindsight after she’s had all this personal growth

I absolutely love her continued fixation on bird cages. I wonder if it's because she feels like she can relate to a bird in a cage singing for other's entertainment and then put away when ever they get board, but still not able to leave either. I've always had that feeling that she was making a metaphor towards that in the LWYMMD video, and the Ready for it? video, but then after hearing her discarded Cardigan lyric where she says 'sneak into my bird cage' really made me wonder.

Spot on with everything you said Mark! I totally get that about the Kayne entry and can relate to that sometimes in my own journal. The writing of 22 and IKYWT within a few days really is jaw dropping, she is so concerning, I bet max was like OH okay this is the real deal.

ahhh I know but it’s absolutely iconic that you guys had ended this waiting period with lover era when the end of lover is daylight and now we’re getting midnights 😊 I love these diary readings! It still makes me collapse every time I remember she wrote this love for 1989 first and took wildest dreams and made it a whole song that I adore with my whole being. Like how many more song titles are hidden in our favorite songs already??

Ahh Emily pronouncing "Schloss Neuschwanstein" is the cutest thing ever 😂 As someone whose native language is German I have to admit it's quite a hard word, so I get it haha. Also, I feel like the castle is THE main tourist attraction in Germany, so I'm not surprised Taylor went to see it (especially in her Fearless era - ... was it fearless?) It's suuper pretty though!

It's so crazy how everything changed a couple weeks ago. All we were hoping for was a new re-record...such an innocent time. 😂 The diaries are so interesting whenever you are reading the ones where she's a teenager just starting out and she's like, "it can't get better than this" or "I hope I can keep this well" or whatever it says. It's like, "yeah, if you only knew what's coming, young Taylor!"

The sad part of this is all of the misogyny that was coming for her. Heartbreak is something everyone can expect to suffer; she may have had a bit more than her share, but it is normal. But all the crap she took, and still takes, for being such a successful woman is horrible and I don't think she saw it coming.

The negative things sure. Terrible she had to deal with all of that. Obviously though, she even says it on the reputation Tour (I think)...when she always dreamed of this. And the she says, "maybe not quite this, I didn't think I'd ever be in front of this many people!"

I just had a thought about Lover and Midnights! Lover has 18 songs and Midnights 13, 18 + 13 = 31, which is 13 backwards! I like the idea these albums are connected somehow! And how Paris is the City of Love, and you guys will be there when Midnights is released! So perfect. :) Loved this video as always. xox
