I was really waiting for this one! This song really messed me up, and I am actually worried about Lana's emotional well-being. I know songwriting is therapy for Taylor too, but it feels even more like that for Lana, at least in these two songs. I hope she is OK. I don't know all her music the way you guys do, so maybe I'm overreacting. Apart from that, the song is just amazing. Some of Jack's best production ever, it seems to me. And, like you said, the song has so many levels, I am not sure I understand it still. Maybe when you do the album reaction, you can come back to this song with the perspective of having listened to it more. This song is so shocking at first listen that it may seem different after 100 listens as it sinks in.

Lana's reference to Shimmy ko-ko bop reminded me of Nelly's 'Country Grammar' which also referenced that song. I've had "Shimmy, shimmy cocoa, what? Listen to it pound. Light it up and take a puff, pass it to me now" stuck in my head since A&W dropped lolol 🤣🤣🤣

I’m thinking the “Jimmy” reference may relate to her past references to “Jim” in other albums?? Notably in Ultraviolence (the song) “Jim told me that, he hit me and it felt like a kiss” ??? I don’t know enough about the backstory to her using Jim as a potential character throughout her discography but it seems to be some sort of dark complicated male character she references in these types of songs!

you might never see this comment but even though I know you’re probably going to react to Gracie Abrams new album good riddance, I really think you should also react to the song ‘block me out’ that she released in April before she announced the album For some unforgivable reason she didn’t put it in the album and it’s literally the best Gracie song I’ve EVER HEARD! It’s produced by Aaron and has the most offensive melodies I’ve ever heard. That’s all :)
