Just because Taylor and Joe are apparently not together anymore, it doesn’t make those songs or the feelings Taylor felt when she wrote them invalid. If reports are to be believed, they just kind of grew apart. You should make it your own or reclaim it

I won't be here for the livestream but just want to chime in that all of Taylor's actions are deliberate. Changing invisible string to the 1 was intentional. The fact that she chose to drop the news during an off week from tour and when she was filming a music video was intentional. It gave people time to process and also shows that she's still going on business as usual. And now she's out and about making a rare public appearance in NYC, to show us she's fine. She's looked nothing but happy on tour, even singing the songs about him. Just because she wrote songs 4-6 years ago about how devastated she'd be if he walked away, doesn't mean she feels the same way today. Nothing last forever, and while I think they were hopeful it could last, the signs were there in her songs that she knew in the end it wouldn't.

It is so THERAPEUTIC to watch this because I feel like people in “real life” don’t get why us “real fans” are having such a big reaction…and it’s so validating to have other people understand that our sadness comes from being HURT for HER, that SHE has to go through this, that her fame causes her issues like this, and that she can’t even grieve the relationship outside of the public eye. Caught up with half of the live this morning with my breakfast and I already feel a bit better 💛 I think it's so normal that fans care about Taylor and worry about her processing all of this, but we should also remember she's a grown woman by now, so wise and supported and self aware, and I am 100% sure she knows how to choose for her wellbeing and happiness. When I see her on that stage... She is glowing, she is bejeweled. I really think she feels complete on there. And it must not be easy to handle the relationship with someone who has that level of fame. I mean, Reputation era she really prioritized and protected her relationship at all costs. Lover was all about happiness but was cut short because of the pandemic. The she didn't tour for years!! and could be at home so much more than she ever did in her life. Now with Midnights and the Eras tour, the pop star lifestyle is back.

I think that all the reasoning that is coming out is the reason why I'm so ill over this whole thing. because sweet nothing was essentially a response track to peace and like she said 'all that he ever wanted was nothing' so for now for it to break off for those exact reasons is just not sitting well with me. somewhere in the back of my mind, I do feel like if they have broken up then the reasons are different than what's been said right now. but whatever the case maybe, I just feel really upset about this whole thing because I looked up to their relationship as such a hope for my life. all the shit they went through and making through all of that. I used to imagine one day having someone who wanted to get through the Great War with me but now I feel a bit sad about how it didn't work out (if it didn't) they don't owe any explanations or clues to us but I really hope there's a good ending to all of this.

I also don't agree with a lot of tour clues about the breakup because I don't think she would ever give 'easter eggs' about the most imp relationship of her life. it's just not something to hint or clue about. they maybe coincidences for sure. As a 43 year old Swiftie, here’s my take… you change a LOT between your 20s into the 30s to the 40s. We are always growing & changing & evolving. They were living two different lives & had 2 different careers when they started dating. He had one movie & she thought her career could be over, people were trying to cancel her. Now he’s growing in his career & our girl has hit a level no one else has done! NO ONE has been able to do what Taylor has done. She has no peak! She’s on a whole other level! Big tour covering her massively successful career, going to write & direct a movie…she is a LIVING LEGEND💛 they will both be fine. Taylor has become such an icon & still keeps such a level head & no longer lets the negativity get her down. She knows her fans support her to no end! I can’t wait to see what grown up, mature, single, powerful Taylor writes next! Big props to Joe for helping her heal during the time they were together, but she has been honest that she’s not ready to settle down & we don’t want her to.

You're so right, we care for her and she gave us all these songs that make us feel invested as if they were characters in a book that we read or even a series of 5 books (albums) and their story now ends. Of course it is not our business and they are not characters but from the fan perspective, this is why we feel sad about it. And that's why I admit I did cry listening to daylight this morning. I also do think it happened before tour and it would give her a little time to get past the inicial devastation. Its kinda weird to say, but I feel like I know Taylor and Joe’s relationship better than I know some of my personal friend’s relationships. Through Taylor’s songs, it’s like we’ve been able to read her diary throughout the years, and especially since she’s stepped away from blatant autobiographical lyrics, she’s been able to be more vulnerable than ever before because there’s always the possibility that the song could be fictional or about a different time in her life. I was thinking about the whole conflict with her fame and how it’s possible that Joe left the relationship due to not being able to handle being the partner of someone as famous as her. When they first got together, she was obviously huge and the rep tour was massive, BUT, she was also in a phase of wanting to really step out of the limelight. Like the first year of their relationship, she was basically not seen by the public at all, and though she still had the hurdle of having to hide from the media, it’s likely that the first year they had together really approximated what a “normal” relationship could be like. And then during Lover era, we know that she truly believed that it was her last chance at being a successful pop star, and so I can imagine that they may have had conversations about how she was going to do the whole big pop star thing one last time, have a fun tour, and then really pair back her career, not because that’s what she necessarily wanted, but because that’s what she truly believed was going to happen. Then the pandemic hit, and she got to experience doing what she loved, writing and releasing music, without the expectations of celebrity fanfare. Like she was almost able to experience what it would be like to be a smaller artist, recording music in her bedroom, and doing minimal promo. It’s really only been since Red TV/Midnights that she has stepped back into the spotlight and become more of a public figure again. She even said that Bejeweled is about leaving the forrest or “exile ending”. And maybe Joe never wanted to leave the forrest, which honestly, is completely fair and understandable. It actually really does make sense why their relationship could have lasted up until now, because from 2016-2021 I don’t know that she was really anticipating skyrocketing again in the way that she has, and reaching new levels of fame. And it seems like she’s pretty happy about the success that she has right now, and maybe it really truly is too much for Joe. I really hope the best for both of them, and I think I’m going to hold onto hope that maybe they’ll reconnect down the road 🥺💛

Just been thinking- I do think that it must have been a strain for Taylor to always stay out of the public eye. Always maintaining such a high level of secrecy. Maybe feeling like she was “wrong” to want or enjoy her career I.e. antihero and worried about overshadowing ie short time with frightful Adam. I think of document-ary when she speaks about wanting to share her life but has she really been able to with joe? Never able to go to award show or anything public atall together etc. I think after rep reset and people used to their relationship. they could have emerged in a lower key way while still being very private about their lives together. I always related The Archer and Mastermind to the fans, just because in city of lover she points to the fans when she sings "you could stay" and that has always stayed with me. With Mastermind she gave an interview where she said it could be taken as a perspective of a romantic love but that she had written it with the fans in mind and our little "private" joke of calling her a mastermind. I listened to The Great War yesterday and boy that was hard, but I'm pushing myself to listen to all the "Joe" songs and trying to only think about how they relate to me personally

I do find it to be intentional that Taylor was spotted out in New York. The restaurant she was at is like, 2 blocks up from Cornelia Street. I think that's her way of saying "I know I said I'd never walk Cornelia Street again, but I'm back and doing just fine." I get the feeling Taylor was okay with the quiet, secretive relationship with Joe when she was going through her Reputation era because she was recovering from being burned so badly. Then Covid hit just a couple of years later, so half of their relationship happened during lockdown. Now that things are getting back to "normal" and she's seeing just how much her career has exploded, I don't think she was ready to be locked away with Joe forever. I too have been fathoming the necklace+cornelia street (nyc) combination!! Really have no idea what it can mean or if any of it was even intentional but I will say my two opposing theories: 1. like you said, shes "walking" cornelia street to show us that shes actually fine and unbothered, or 2. the lyric does say, "ill never walk cornelia st again" if she lost him, but she is walking cornelia street so that means the breakup didnt happen otherwise she wouldnt be walking cornelia st?? sorry for the long-windedness I'm still trying to process it all!!

25:20 yes!! definitely the "foreshadowing" is surreal in all those songs about her anxieties surrounding the relationship. It def humanized their love and just some of her best writing ever came from those vulnerable songs-- but also now makes you wonder like how you guys state in 27:10 if they broke up for the reasons outlined in those songs, were they in fact really deep hunches for her throughout their relationship? Like a "red flag" or a feeling she had that she may have ignored because she chose to love him despite it? Really makes you wonder why those songs manifested in her brain to begin with.

Erin, I still refuse to take anything as solid fact until TS says something. On that note, everyone is going to be on livestreams for tonight's show in case she does! But you've just said some things! I bet there are A LOT of couples who entered the pandemic at year 2ish or 3ish who went into hermit mode. And now that things are opening back up and returning to normal, they may be discovering all new sides of their partners! And that would be surprising because "we've been together for 5 years! How could I not know that you like to do XYZ EVERY weekend. Oh, wait we used to do that a lot before the pandemic hit." And that is INTERESTING! There are probably a lot of couples who thought they were in a solid 5+ year relationship that was really good that may be about to end because they actually like different things.

Thank you guys for this 🥲 I'd also add that it's important to remember that songwriting is a creative expression and she probably romanticised their relationship to some extent in her songs. I'm not saying they didn't have a really healthy loving relationship but I'm sure it was also more complicated than a lot of her songs let on. We only saw what she was comfortable sharing with us. I also think we still haven't fully fathomed the songs she's written about the harder parts of their relationship like peace and hoax and even renegade
