Behold! The first tutorial for Goo Engine! And yes, Goo Blender has been renamed to be Goo Engine to stay clear of the Blender trademark.I hope this video is helpful in walking through what you guys need to know! It's a lot of information, but it should be useful to at least get you experimenting. More tutorials coming in the near future!Check out the new snazzy link, too! http://gooengine.orgEnjoy the video!

I know this is odd but what I do for third colors is make a simple two color texture then add it to the node(s)

Shaky Tail Studios

This rocks, can't wait to see it applied to a character in a lesson :D

Hii, I got the goo engine but it doesn't recognize my graphics card. Is that normal? I have an RTX 2060

Kelly Johnson

Dillon, can we get access to files to learn how to use your shaders in your new version of blender? How do we create skin anime materials vs Hard surface? You explored some of the things you can do with your new shader in your tutorial, but not how to create these shaders? Are they ready made shaders or do we have to build thim from scratch?

dillongoo

Good question! I can setup some downloadable asset packs with a toon shader example

dillongoo

The shaders can be recreated just by copying the node setup, but I can definitely provide some files for an easy start!

dillongoo

Oh that's weird. It should be working. I'm afraid you'll have to troubleshoot on your end :( I have a 2080 SUPER and I have no issues. It might be a driver issue for you?

dillongoo

We haven't made plans to distribute project files just yet, but might do so in the near future!

BeeverOne

I have two other versions of blender installed and they both recognize my graphics card. I also recently just updated my GPU driver to the latest one so I doubt that it’s a problem on my end. I’ll look around nonetheless and make sure everything is okay from my end.

Hector Cervantes

Yes, the files would be nice. Thanks again Dillon!

I beg the blogger to release the Mac version💔

William Ruzicka

Wait... it's windows only? Well... shit. I don't do any work on a Windows machine. Why did I only notice that after paying. -_-;;

dillongoo

Sorry to hear! What operating system do you use? We'll see if we can help!

dillongoo

We're hoping to get one out soon, but no guarantees yet! It's a bit tricky without a Mac user on our development team

dillongoo

We're looking for ways to get a Mac build soon! I'll definitely keep you posted!

William Ruzicka

Ah! Thanks, I'll look forward to it then.

Jerart

thank you so much for all your work ! will you do any tutorials or breakdowns for creating something like your makoto shinkai mailbox ?

Chocobo

Your blender conference was so dope. Your IRL vtuber model was cool too ❤️

Is it possible to combine my PBR Materials with your shader? As in, my model has Metallic, Roughness, etc. And I would like to layer your shader on top of those existing mats. (Not that it matters, but this is for a NPR look btw, the textures aren't exactly realistic.) Edit: Your shader is working beautifully! I'm loving the way it looks for me, theres a few other things as well that I'd like to ask about as well, like if its possible to incorporate bloom blending (As in, basically adding a higher staturation color in between light and shadow in shader.) but i'm having a great time experimenting , thank you for this resource!

Chocobo

Also, is there a way to properly incorporate a highlight color? (3rd Color?) I've been messing around with mix-shaders and rgb's but I haven't had too much success. Any tips on how to work these in would be appreciated!

dillongoo

Definitely keep me posted! I hope everything's working!

dillongoo

Hi Chocobo!! You can definitely blend PBR shaders with our nodes! They're fully compatible with most things that Eevee offers by default. As long as you use a Shader to RGB node for your PBR shaders, you can mix them as you would any other RGB input. There may be some restrictions on refractions and the screenspace info node, but I'll go over those in a future tutorial. I'm glad you're enjoying the shader and the engine so far :D I would definitely say it's possible to incorporate bloom blending if you use a Linear color ramp instead of a Constant one. Have fun and I'm excited to see what you make!
