TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK: Urban Sketching using ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE

One point perspective is a really great way to sketch a street scene like the above photo of Vipiteno Sterzing, Italy. Even though it looks very complex, there is an easy way to break down a scene like this. I'll also show you the important perspective rules you'll need to follow.

Because I wanted to teach a specific lesson this week, I've chosen the reference for us. The perspective is very clear to see in this photo as well as being a very beautiful place to sketch (Which was hard to find!)

Let me know in the comments if you have anything you'd like to especially learn or find challenging with a scene like this 👍🏼.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 3rd June: Portraits - Feminine VS Masculine faces

Week Starting 10th June: Urban Sketching - Venice/Gondola

Week Starting 17th June: People Riding Bikes

Do you really need all the tables and chair in the scene? I find them more of the problem than a few people.

Kerstin

I dont think i tried one point perspective yet? So… excited to learn that 😃

Karen Lin

I have trouble with awnings and window boxes. Getting the angles right Can you add a couple people sitting in the chairs for extra practice? Thanks! I'm looking forward to the next three tutorials. Look super fun!

Going to be tricky but excited to have a go Scottie ☺️

I’m new to your Paetron channel. And, I’m loving it!!! Thank you!!! I’m really looking forward to this lesson. Perspective is a problem for me. Especially, placing people and cars in an urban street scene. I’m sure this lesson will help me. And, maybe later, I can tackle cars.

Suzanne Taylor

Yay.......I am looking forward to this.

Hi Scottie, it´s my favourite one ...

I haven’t tried this one yet, but I love the colors. You’ve made the photograph come alive!! And those who have posted have done a wonderful job of giving it their own “spin”.
