TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK:   People Sketching - Complex poses: Sitting

This week we are sketching people sitting! It's a more complex pose which requires some adjustments to the proportions and measuring as we sketch.

Let me know in the poll which reference you'd prefer to sketch and anything specific you'd like to learn in the comments below 🙌🏼.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 23rd September: Urban Sketching - Japanese Shop Front

Week Starting 30th September: Portrait Sketching - Front view

Week Starting 7th October: Urban Sketching - Beach Scene

John

These come around so quickly Scottie.. must be keeping you on your toes 😎

I really like #1 but #2 is more often the type of scene you would find especially if you sit in a cafe to sketch. I kind of like the way the last young man is sitting with his feet almost out of his sandals. Have a nice week!

Sure can't figure out how to vote...is it here in comments?

Mukul Apte

Thanks for loving it Scottie! I want to vote for all!!!!! Going with 1 & 3....Excited about the upcoming ones as well

Ida Johansson

Getting the legs right when the reference person is sitting front facing me is difficult I think.

江戸 fdu

I have a quite similar picture from last holidays I'd like to draw, but not confident enough yet to start it ! Thanks for your courses and to all have a nice week !

Lorna Graham

1,2,3 for me but as always happy with all of them. 2 and 3 will be interesting with the crossed legs ☺️

Bharani Narasimhan

For me it is 1, 2, and 5, I feel they are more dynamic and involves variations in posture, gestures, or interactions with the environment or other people.

JusPete

For sure, #2.

Gwen Marriott

I like no 5 because it is it’s an interesting pose and setting.

Michael Coleman

IMHO 2 seems to have the best mix of figures, objects and perspectives though 1 & 5 also look instructive. #1 not so much as #2 as the hair is missing on the figures and the background is bland; #5 a second/third place as the figure in the foreground takes up too much of the picture.

Petra

Hi Scottie, I like #2 , much to learn and #4 with an unimportant background.

Roz

#2 is full of learning opportunities!! Reflections in glass and lots of shadows.

Alex

Hi, the perspective is more challenging with the number ... 5! Have a good week.

Karen

I like #1. Both front and side view of legs.
