In this tutorial I'll show you how to sketch TOWER BRIDGE in London step by step using ink and watercolor. This is a great tutorial that shows you how to construct a complex structure while simplifying the details.

don't like my first sketch, the front and back towers are out of proportion, compared to each other. Thanks for sharing "behind the scene" with us, I found it encouraging! so I might give it a second go....

Love this Scottie, hope I can produce something close to this 🙌🏻

Thanks for showing all the imperfect sketches and the thought process behind the tutorial, Scottie. I was wondering why you started with the bases instead of the full height and width of the image like you usually do. If it weren’t for the tutorial and the simplifying process and were drawing for yourself, would you have simply started with the full height and width from the reference and broken it down from there, or no? Like if we were to break down an image into proportions for ourselves, what’s the basic “rule”?

I went in too quick started in a sketchbook not realizing it had another size / proportions. So I did it again and then first measured 5 x 7 inch and then made the borders you recommended. This is an important thing to look after!

Really like the behind-the-scenes process walk-through. I guess for some reason I thought you got it perfect from the get-go, but I guess even you have to kind of figure things out before you put pen to paper. Or even afterwards.!

Learned a lot in this one, too, Scottie, and your thoughts on process were enlightening. Good to hear you finished painting your apartment. Shadows in Purple Lake? Ultramarine with a bit of Permanent Rose? 😏

Jessica

Scottie we love the behind the scenes! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 we should get them included always 😬

Hello, Scottie. One question. What kind of paper do you use for the clouds. It's not kleenex or toilet paper, is it?
