In this tutorial I'll show you how to sketch four sea creatures using my loose ink and watercolor sketching technique. You could choose to sketch only one of these creatures if you'd prefer! The turtle would be a good start 😊.

Oh good - I scuba dive for many years so I’m excited to do these Thanks Scottie

Lorna Graham

These look amazing Scottie, looking forward to having a go

This is so fun, Scottie. I just finished making the Loggerhead Sea Turtle. To answer your question, I used size 8 brush to fill in the spots of the back flipper but I was scared I might mess it up and switched to size 4 for the front flippers.

Elly

Whow, I just realized this one is almost 2 hours long. Very cool, thank you Scottie. I'm tempted to pain some of the colorful fish too :)

Hi, I am sorry to ask a question here, but the message icon will not open for me to send you a question. It is off this topic, where would I find your video on your point system for drawing figures? Again, I am sorry to have to ask this here.

Kerry Methot

Incredibly grateful for you Scottie! Your explanations, soothing voice and style are just perfect. Everytime you post something that looks complicated, I am nervous to start, but in the end you make it so easy. I have sketched all four out and will paint them tomorrow. Thank you SO much for this Patreon, it is a very bright spot in my week!!

Andrea C.

I always draw the subjects with you on regular sketch paper at least once (sometimes twice) before going to my watercolor paper. This helps me practice the shapes and proportions, notice where I might have missed the mark, and make corrections. So it was very encouraging to see your practice drawings here as well! It’s a good reminder that this is all about the process and not achieving a single result. Thank you Scottie!

Excellent class. How you divided into proportions is really excellent. I see the value of using 300 weight paper. I use 150 or something in it wasn't as good. I was a marine biologist for 38 years, very excited to do this. I totally blew the Bell on the jellyfish though. Excellent class thank you thank you

This was my first class here and I loved it… and your way of teaching, Scottie. My main focus was the sketch, and I draw on sketching paper, but I will definately make a new sketch on watercolor paper, because I missed the movement and blending of colors on the sketching block. I think Andrea C’s way of pacticing drawing the motives, before going to watercolor is great, I think that could work for me aswell.

Amanda

This was SO much fun! Thanks for a wonderful tutorial! I know it was long, but I honestly didn't feel like it was 2 hours. Also loved seeing your practice sketches at the end again.
