UPCOMING TUTORIAL:  Friday 13th June: Urban Sketching - City Scene

This week I'll be creating a tutorial for you using this reference from Paris! Painting a scene at night with lights is one of the biggest challenges I have yet to complete. I'll be practicing hard this week to work out the best way to approach a tricky scene like this!

Let me know what you'd find challenging with this reference or any ideas you have for painting an evening scene in the comments below 🙏🏼.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Friday 20th June: People Sketching - Black & White photos

Friday 27th June: Shop Front

Friday 4th July: Rusty Ute (Pickup Truck)

Good morning, I am looking forward to these tutorials. To sketch Sitting groups of people is very challenging for me.

The values and contrast between light and dark are the biggest challenge for me. I love to sketch this scene! I am going to France next week so this will give lots of inspiration!

I look so forward to this 😃 Most challenging… how to make it look night without its all muddy 🙆🏼‍♀️

The lighting and perspective for me Scottie. Really curious to see how you manage the lighting.

What a different challenge ! Looking forward to it, love Paris

Yes to capturing dusk and the lighting from within. Wondering how shadows work, too. I feel the same way about pictures with rainy, wet streets. Haven’t figured that out yet either. Love another chance to work on 3pt perspective with you by our side.
