Download the reference below to sketch along with me!

I've included a template which you can print off and use as an underlay if you'd like some extra help practicing the proportions. You could use thin printer paper to draw on top of the template too.

It's interesting that you didn't complete the jawline, yet the eye sees it as a whole. I frequently will draw the face decently, then trying to draw the jaw one little wobble will ruin the whole shape. I think I'll try this method of getting it close enough. At least it should increase the odds for success.

Hi Scottie, how hard is your pencil?

Annika

I’ve struggled with your tutorials for a year but a month ago I realized a few things. One, working in pencil just gives me way less stress than using a pen. Two I like trying to do my own sketch first by looking at the reference( your downloads are very helpful, especially the ones that outline the main shapes) and then follow your tutorial. This really helps me learn to see my gaps and errors. But the big realization was, that for me, I have to outline the face before the hair, just like in this tutorial. That was a huge breakthrough for me. I could just never get it to make sense for me doing the hair outline first. Now I just need to acquire your mad hair drawing skills!!!
