Hi all! I hope you are having a great start to the week.

I'm going to be sketching buildings this week and come back to the final portraits tutorial about the 'front view' in a few weeks time. I love the idea of switching between subjects like this each week to keep us inspired and learning new things.

I've been playing with some simple line work sketches for these references for practice. My wife thought the little sketches were 'so cute' haha so I thought I'd share with you how I was thinking of sketching them!

Adding watercolor is still one of the areas I would like to work on personally. I like to keep the line work the hero so I'm experimenting with lighter washes. I added a touch of color to two of the above and one I left one black and white. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this.

Please vote below to help me decide on which tutorial to make. You can vote for more than one! (I've attached the these references below if you want a head start 😊)

Man, the way you blend watercolor into your line work is is one of MY absolute favorite things about your style.

All three please. The minimalist color effect (in my opinion) adds to the overall pleasant appearance. You can overdue a painting. As to your wife’s comment. In the “Marriage Code of Conduct Book”. Verily I say unto you - If wife says it’s CUTE - “it’s cute”.

I have many pictures related to choice number 1. I get too stressed about drawing all the buildings. I know i don't have to draw all the buildings but that's part of why i like the picture. I want to be able to get the perspective mostly right with the closer buildings and further ones. The water in the background is a nice feature too.

Honesty I’m torn - can you just do them all? 😂🙃

Tracy Yates

#1 because it seems most difficult, but interested in hearing how you simplify the others--how to choose what to include etc.

Ally Noormohamed

Number 1 or 3 because they have interesting shapes and perspectives.

Aiming For Jesus

I voted for # 1 because it seemed the list intimidating to this old in years but total newbie in art of any kind. But they all look interesting and great to work on. Thanks. Hollis

Renata B

I voted for #3 because I have a really hard time simplifying.

Mary L Doty

I voted for 3 because it is very ornate. But than again all are interesting and none would disappoint.

Russ Sansom

I'm chasing #1 because it's the most common urban scene I run into and I'm not always happy with the outcome.
