Hi All, I hope are all having a great start to the week! It's time to plan for the next tutorial.

TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK: How to draw children

A number of you have asked me to do a tutorial on how to sketch children. I decided not to do a poll on the references as I wanted to hear what you would like to learn and base the tutorial around that rather than a particular image.

I found a few examples above with a variety of ages. It's quite challenging to find good references to sketch so I hope some of these would suit.

Let me know in the comments below what you would like to learn!

NEW FEATURE

I've decided to make a website to list all my tutorials that are on Patreon in one easy view page.

Visit here if you would to view the page: https://www.sketchingscottie.com/patreon-index

All my tutorials are still here on Patreon, it is just a list that links back to Patreon when you click on the tutorial you want.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 7th August: Street Objects - Lighthouse

Week Starting 14th August: Portraits - Front View (I'll save Tiny Heads for the next portrait tutorial)

Week Starting 21st August: Buildings - Ornate Buildings

Thanks for reading! Love to hear from you below 🤗

I particularly love rocks and water. Also would like to practice moving water

Thanks Scottie, for continually striving to improve things! The new website sounds great; it’ll be especially nice to have all your tutorials easy to reference. As far as the children go, I vote for image #1– the tricky-looking action shot! Best, Tanya

I feel like the kids faces, how do you capture them as young kids in a sketch instead of just like all the adult faces? I also looked at your new website. I love the patreon index. So easy to find everything! Well done!

Really interested in seeing the new website as I do feel a little confused manoeuvring on this one but it could just be me. I’m working through your fundamentals at the moment and that suits me whilst I’m trying to learn ☺️

This was just what I was looking for. I would like to learn more about proportions used to draw children. I am sure they are just not shorter. Plus the face and head size changes with age in relation to the body , facial features placement, and a lot more I don’t know. The way you break down adults is much easier for me to remember than the complicated methods I have often seen used. I am really excited about this opportunity.

I have just been looking at Loomis's book with its diagrams on proportions of infant and small children's heads. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thank you Scottie, love your Patreon index as I'm a relative noob to your channel, it's great! Love the August line up! ❤️

Hi! I’m really want to see how you draw trees and plants 🪴. Could you give us some tips 🙂❣️

The index is super helpful. I had started to create my own by finding them on your Patreon and YouTube channel :D Can I suggest grouping by beginner, intermediate and advanced as well? Series of videos in each. Allowing people to "graduate" each, giving them confidence to tackle the next "level". A nice to have, would be something along the lines of what do you feel like drawing today/this week/month to see what people ask for/look for. I sometimes look for something you've shown how to draw but different to see what I've learned. When it comes to the children references, I'd vote for 1, 3 and 4 because they each have a particular angle and/or posture that would be interested to learn how to draw at a smaller scale to that of a full grown person.
