Hi all,

TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK: Lighthouse

This week we are sketching a lighthouse! They are a great subject as the overall silhouette is very distinctive. I've found a few nice references but I'm interested which you like the best. I originally had number 1 as my favourite but number 2 & 3 both have nice colors and surrounding scenery. Let me know below!

THANKS:

I've had a lot of positive feedback on my new Patreon Tutorial Index. It seems to have really helped you find relevant tutorials. Also thanks to everyone who's helped me solve any missing links or access problems recently with the changes I've made.

The steps with railing and the railing on the upper part of lighthouse #1 would be a challenge.

Elaine Liebenbaum

Number 2 is prettier but I like the challenge of the railing and steps.

Lorna Graham

I like 3 because of the negative space ☺️

Stephanie Wright

I like the sky in #2. However, in #1 the rocks are a little more clear so that would also be a great choice.

Karen King

Although 2 is the prettiest one, I voted for #1 because of the multiple challenges of perspective and details.

Fran

I like #1 because of the bricks and ladder. It adds more interest to the lighthouse.

Ally Noormohamed

I’ll vote for number 1 because it has the most character and depth of the three.

RICS

I like the steps in #1 but can we incorporate the top in #2 - a kind of light house mash-up. Really I just like the details and would like to see how you would handle them.
