Great movie and Halloween kills is even better. Halloween ends sucked ass. Then you HAVE to checkout the rob zombie movies if you wanna see a sick nasty Mikey myers. Timelines different again in a few ways but they're great

This timeline is the original, and then this one. The brother/sister came about in Halloween II. So basically, they went back and this is the direct sequel to the original. Everything else can be disregarded for this trilogy. Everyone I know hates the doctor. It just seemed to be the only way they could think of to get Michael to Laurie's house. Oh, and the majority of your questions will get answered in Halloween Kills (Including those that likely came up in wondering how we got from the Original's ending to this beginning ~ i.e. Michael wasn't caught at the end of the original).

*SPOILER WARNING* Halloween (2018) is honestly where it should've ended. Great film btw, but dang it, man. The other two films were not great for me. It just felt forcibly prolonged. I can't wait to your reaction to those JL. In all honesty I hope you enjoy them more than I did, I don't wish nothing bad for these. It's just not my thing ( Obvious Jason fan, but regardless of that, I just wish the last two were better ). Michael was done really well in this film and I honestly thing Halloween Should've ended at 2018.

I like this storyline better. It makes it more scary for them not to be related. John Carpenter only did that cause the studio wanted a part 2 and he had no other ideas.

Where is Laurie's son??! I don't ever recall them mentioning she had a daughter. There hasn't been any mention of a son since Josh Hartnett played him at the boarding school.
