my advice when catching those little pests, don’t release a cat to go after it unless you want to hear them tearing through every room in your house, bait a spring loaded trap with either fresh cheddar, or a glob of peanut butter, I know that last seems a bit out there, but depending on the breed of mouse/rat, it does work.

Hopefully that means it is gone.

If a room starts smelling like something died, try to locate the source, and remove it
