The number of clovers on the books represents the potential of the person, not his current level. The "class system" is the bloodline of a person, where they are from the royal family or just a peasant, nothing to do with power level

To clarify the topic you talk at the begining, regarding the leaf of the clover on grimoire. Currently there are only 3 type of the clover. 3-leaf clover - normal grimoire, people normally get these. Both commoner and noble alike. 4-leaf clover - very rare grimoire, said to have a lot of power and good luck. As far as you in the anime, only Yuno, Licht and first wizard king have it (they didn't reveal grimoire of current wizard king aka. Julius yet) 5-leaf clover - as in your current place in the anime, it didn't reveal what exactly its ability yet apart from the saying 'there is a demon in fifth-leaf' in the first chapter. (Don't worry they already reveal more info about it later on in the anime, so you will know if you keep watching). Only Asta have it at this moment. There is no 1- or 2-leaf clover grimoire. Still the status boundaries remain due to level of magic people have from birth as well as their birth status i.e. commoner, noble. And yes, other Kingdom have different sign on their grimoire, its unknown at this time in the story if their is also rare type of their sign but doesn't seem to be. Hope this help!

This is correct and is great clarification. Hope they see this. The First Wizard King that defeated the ancient demon, Yuno, and Licht are the only mages to this point that has 4 leaf grimoires. Julius grimoire hasn't been revealed yet.

Man rewatching this series again with y'all is just reigniting my love and passion for this series. Black Clover may not have the amazing animation like other popular series(demon slayer/MHA etc) But the story is just amazing and is some of the best I've seen in anime, plus the hints and foreshadowing in these early episodes are insane, that leads to such massive plot twists and reveals later.

Black Clover is really a slow burn but once it gets to this point, it leaves you excited and intrigued. And personally, I'm glad for that. Tabata was spinning the thread, cooking on low heat, etc. And YES, captain character design is great! Totally memorable like the Hashira.

3 leaf clovers grimoires - It is common amongst almost all who have a grimoire including all Captains. 4 leaf clovers grimoires - It is only revealed that Yuno, Licht and the FIRST wizard King has it. 5 leaf clovers grimoire - Asta is the only one that we know. 1-2 leaf - Nothing has been mentioned. Julius grimoire has not been revealed yet I believe. The number of leaves on your grimoire does not determine the rank or level. It is only explained that the 4th leaf represents good luck. Those with exceptional magical abilities are chosen to wield a grimoire with a four-leaf clover.

Yes!! Additionally for magic rankings, you won’t see that from their grimoires (just the 4-leaf and 5-leaf are extremely rare special ones). It can be distinguished from class for Clover Kingdom: Royals - highest amount of magic/mana Nobles - also high amount Commoners - normal amount Peasants - lowest magic/mana Asta - no magic/mana (lol) That’s why social class disparity is so great here, it is directly proportional to amount of magic one has. Although it doesn’t always mean that high magic = stronger, it will still depend on magic compatibility, skills, and strategy when it comes to fights.

Just to kind of piggy back. They explain this when Asta first gets his grimoire. Three leaves are the norm. They represent: faith, love, and hope. The fourth leaf is given to luck - that's why they're so rare (fyi: not every wizard king has four leaves) and the fifth leaf resides a demon

I would recommend that you watch the first episode again for yourself. When Asta gets his grimoire, it's shown that it is a five-leaf clover and there will be also explained what the five-leaf clover stands for

All grimoires in the clover kingdom have 3 leaves, there are no 1 leaf of 2 leaf. A four-leaf grimoire is very rare, and Asta is the only one with a five-leaf

Just as in real life, 3 leaf clovers are common, everyone has a 3 leaf clover. 4 leaf clovers in real life are super rare, just as in the show. People on the show that have 4 leaf clover are basically loved by mana (have tons of it) and that’s why the book has chosen them, only 3 of them have been revealed so far in the show. Then you have the 5 leaf clover, which in real life, doesn’t exist, to my knowledge, but on this show show it does and it’s even more rare than the 4 leaf, just for the fact that 5 leaf clover are known to not exist, but Asta has one. He has no mana at all, so maybe that’s why? Create your own answers lol but he is basically the only one in the world that has one that we know of. Although people have 3 leaf clovers, doesn’t mean they are weak. People have their own magic and unique abilities that are part of their bloodlines as you know, which makes them more skilled and powerful by nature with their grimoires, also the more magic they have, the more spells they can store on their books. If you go back to the beginning, you’ll notice everyone had different size grimoires. So yeah, If you don’t got a bunch of Mana, you probably gonna get stuck with like 5 page Grimoire lol where you’re skills and powers might determine how powerful the spells you’d be able to cast and have on your pages will be. I hope this helps a bit more to understand the whole Grimoires thing! If I’m wrong on anything, please feel free to correct me!

Julius (wizard king) doesn’t have a 4 leaf … we actually haven’t seen his grimoire yet .. we’ve only seen him use magic

The ammount of leaves in the clover doesn't correlate directly to the user's power, more to his potential, that's how I view it. Yuno has a 4 leaf clover, and he's powerful, but still would get destroyed in a 1v1 against any of the captains or other powerful mages with 3 leaf clovers, atleast in this part of the story. But, he has the potential to surpass them, and that comes with experience and time. Bloodline also helps, a noble that just got his grimoir might be stronger than a commoner that has had his for many years. Basically, it isn't as simple as "3 leaf clover weaker than 4 leaf clover"

if you go back to the episode where yuno got his grimiore if you look at each one of the grimiores they have different symbols on the front. some had 2 leaf going top to bottom. most some had 1 or 3. 4 leaf clover grimiores are super rare. And they say with no spoilers "that with the 5th leaf of the clover comes a devil". And yes all the kindoms are based off of Playing cards. Clover is what most people consier to be "clubs"
