If you guys are gonna continue Star wars after this, I would highly recommend watching the animated clone wars series. Gets really into depth of the lore of the force and Jedi and sith and is just a great TV series all around

Jedi are loved and hated by many and the Star Wars Galaxy. A lot of people see them as a cult that abducts children. There are some Jedi that were forcefully taken by Jedi as kids. This is found in the comics. Other people love them and see them as true heroes and a sign of hope.

Crazy thing is that there is a lot of newer content that fills in the gaps between these movies now. Star Wars: Tales of the jedi (episodes 2, 3, and 4) canonically take place before the next movie. Star wars the clone wars takes place between movies 2 and 3. Really good shows to consider watching for more lore/story imo.

You're wrong... Anakin brings balance. Luke helped him in the end and was essential for him to fulfill his purpose. The path of the prophecy is not clear, Anakin needs to become Darth Vader so that in the end the force can win. (You saw all of this in the last 3 films, it's not a spoiler).

I was 8 yrs old when this movie came out in theaters, and saw it 3 times. Absolutely a core memory for me. I remember being SO jealous of the Anakin's actor, and of course, having a crush on Natalie Portman. It's not my favorite Star Wars movie, but it definitely has the most nostalgia for me. I feel like a kid again every time I watch it

The Jedi mind trick only works on people that have a weak mind or will. A lot of species are smart and sharp so brain washing from jedi dont have an effect and some people just train their mind to resist the trick as they are either spies or bounty hunters so it would benefit them. This is why in Episode 6 Jabba called his translater a weak minded fool because Luke brainwashed him to having an adience with Jabba the Hutt. The Hutts are another species who are immune to this jedi trick and they also live for a few centuries which is cool. Jabba was around 600 years when he died by Leigha

A couple of things, Anakin did already bring peace to the force and galaxy in the original trilogy. In the end he killed Darth Sidious to save Luke Skywalker because Darth Sidious was killing Luke Skywalker with his force lightning. Also the movies don’t do this justice because obviously we wouldn’t be able to see anything. Jedi/Sith can actually move at light speed so when you’re seeing them fight, it’s almost as if it was slowed down as much as possible. Canon Comics confirmed this as well as George Lucas. Jedi/Sith move almost at the speed of light if not faster.

Ask yourself this. Is Jar Jar really that lucky..? Or is there more to his powers...? Funny thing about Jar Jar he is either loved or hated. Critics at the time thought he was the worst thing for Star Wars but as I've come to watch the series i have flipped back and forth and have come to like him. George Lucas had a lot of influence from diff cultures for the costumes and even the alien languages. And the Jedi Padawan braid/rat tail is custom for padawans once they have trained and overcome the trials to become a Jedi Knight they cut it. Anakin is definitely way more talented than Luke especially as a kid but Luke is definitely up as one of the strongest jedi in the lore. Its just in the older movies the portrayal of the force is a lot more tame and not fleshed out fully. With the newer movies/shows etc the force is portrayed way stronger and powerful. And yup the lightsaber fights just get way more bad ass.

Making sure not to spoil anything you don't already know, it actually is Anakin who brings balance, not Luke. Remember how Darth Vader destroys both the Emperor and himself in 6? He just needed Luke to convince him to do it. So the prophecy was true. George Lucas confirmed this as well, he says he is still the chosen one even when he's Darth Vader and does bring balance. Such a cool thing about the story imo, that the prophecy really was true all along, it just wasn't clear how it would happen

Yeah Anakin was conceived by the force. He’s a force baby who was believed to be the chosen one that will bring balance to the force and destroy the sith. If you remember, Vader was the one to kill the emperor Darth Sidious thus bringing balance to the force ending the sith. There is a ton of lore that happens between and before the movies that other shows and books get into. Also the braid is a mark of being a jedi apprentice.

Qui-Gon’s funeral was meant to mirror Anakin’s at the end of Return of the Jedi and it’s a lot more tragic if you think about it. Qui-Gon is surrounded by many people who either love or respected him and he died with that legacy. Anakin dies and the only person who is there to mourn him in the end at his funeral is the son who refused to give up on him while the rest of the galaxy hated him or forgot him.

the balance to the force prophecy is rendered moot due to the events of the third movie, there were still enough powerful Jedi around to subjugate the emperor. It was a combination of unfortunate circumstances and Anakin's own actions that led to the fall of the republic, if he didnt do what he did Jedi wouldnt have been near extinct during ep 4,5,6 and jedi/sith would actually be as balanced as it could be after THAT order

Actually it’s not “rendered moot”, Anakin did bring balance to the force just as the prophecy said, just because the dark side is involved doesn’t negate the fact that it happened and the chosen one was the one to do it.

One reason I can think of for why the Jedi don’t use the force very much in fights is because Yoda said in the old films that a Jedi uses the force for defense, never to attack.

Just like yoda was weary of training anakin, there are plenty of people who the force is strong with, yet never get discovered by the Jedi or are too old, etc etc, those people are possible choices for a sith apprentice. That, and a Jedi who is able to be manipulated, which is why the Jedi are strict on who can be trained

That's not what balance means in Star Wars. Balance means 0 Sith. The problem is that the Sith use the dark side for their own selfish reasons, that's what throws things out of balance. Balance doesn't mean equal good guys equal bad guys. It means 0 Sith messing with the Force George Lucas direct quote: "Anakin is the chosen one, and even when Anakin turns into Darth Vader he is still the chosen one. The prophecy is that Anakin will bring balance to the Force and destroy the Sith. He becomes Darth Vader. Darth Vader does become the hero. Darth Vader does destroy the Sith, meaning himself and the emperor. He does it because he is redeemed by a son. So the prophecy is true. And by doing that he redeems himself and goes from being Darth Vader back to being Anakin again."

Anakin was 9 and Padme (Queen Amidala) was 14 at the time so it wasn't to crazy, also I believe Natalie Portman was 15 when they started filming and 17 when the movie was released.
