Just a heads up but there’s a slight mistranslation or mistake done by the Anime when Granny Nyon is talking about the former Empresses dying from love sickness” After Granny Nyon there was two more Empresses that came before Boa Hancock…in the Manga it is only said that the one just before Hancock died from the love sickness not the other one

Loved the discussion at the end but I really think you should not put your mind to how Rukia’s execution was like in Bleach “Switching sides” in One Piece is very different than switching sides in other stories… Not gonna tell you if anyone does switch sides of course but if anyone does it’s not so simple as “they’re on the right side now”…it’s something that can effect either the person who switched sides or it can effect the whole world itself or even worse & it can effect both Let’s use Boa Hancock as an example, if she switches sides and fights the Marines, her Warlord title will be revoked & then her whole island would be fucked, so her best option would be to lay low and not participate too much in the battle (not confirming this is what she will do but just saying it’s her best option to take) so yeah…it’ll effect her personally if she switches sides & since Mihawk is also a Warlord then he clearly needs the title for something aswell so again if he “switches sides” then it’ll effect him Then there’s other characters where the entire world can be effected if they switch sides, so “switching sides” isn’t as simple as you think Also, most characters in One Piece are morally grey…in fact the Marines, even though they can have a few bad apples in the bunch…they realistically do have more good people on their side whereas 90% of Pirates are murderers, thieves, rapists & outright just terrible people who do terrible things to innocents That’s why alot of the time…people that the Straw Hats come across are so shocked at how kind they are & since Ace is apart of the Whitebeard pirates you can assume that they are also in that 10% bracket And of course the Marines protecting the World Governments wrong doings is also not a good thing but when there’s a corrupt hierarchy that’s manipulating things from the top…it’s not easy to change that. It’ll have to be changed from the inside & by nurturing the next generation of Marines and bit by bit things can change from there but it’s a very long process The Marines are very easily the most misunderstood group of people in the story and it’s a shame that some of the fandom just can’t try put themselves in their shoes

I always thought that Nami and Robin are out of the question because they are in one crew. And each of the Straw Hats crew have their own big goals to achieve. Guys, you shouldn't take "dying from lovesickness" so literally 😂😂 It's not really like a virus that definitively ends in death 😂😂 It's only logical that the women on Amazon Lily experience such strong lovesickness when they fall in love, since, firstly, they're not used to men, and secondly, they're not used to love and being in love. That's why Hancock asked Granny Nyon what love was when she told her what she had. The Empresses before her probably died because they became so depressed that they could never see the men they fell in love with again, and so they probably killed themselves or starved to death or something because they were too lovesick to eat. It was also said that Hancock didn't eat after hearing that Luffy was planning to leave the island the next morning.

I’d just like to remind you of Garp’s words at Enies Lobby. There are three powers that maintain a balance. The balance goes as follows: One Emperor’s crew = The Shichibukai = The Marines. This balance means that if the Marines face off against an Emperor’s crew, either side could win, but in any case, it would cause massive losses on both sides — that’s the concept of balance. In episode 395, Garp clearly states that the Marines are unable to handle Whitebeard and Rayleigh at the same time. And we’re talking about a single man who hasn’t fought in 20 years. The Emperors are enemies and wage war against each other, so just imagine if two Emperors allied — it would simply be the end.

@adan blas I think you miss the themes of the story and failed to see them. It mirrors the real world and actually goes deeper than Naruto does in terms of lessons. They're my top 2 followed by Bleach btw. I'm in no way shooting Naruto down. It's just I've seen people say that about themes/lessons and it's just plain wrong. Not sure if you're caught up with the anime/manga but I'm a weekly reader so I'm going off of the totality of the story thus far. It's definitely not just entertainment, it's motivational as well.

It's just referenced periodically to remind us that other people hate him so we feel bad for him. Still, I'm sure it helped a lot of kids growing up at that time. Final words: OP vs Naruto is not a fair comparison to make... but not because they are "equal and different" but rather "of entirely different class and quality". It's not "Apples to Oranges", it's "Apples to decorative plastic fruit".
