24:44 - Luffys height is 5 foot 8 while Boa Hancocks is 6 foot 3 lol But compared to the Manga, the Anime does tend to over do it sometimes and make Boa way too tall at times & Luffy way too short Character heights are very inconsistent in One Piece you’ll notice this as you get further into the show

The only anime I can think of that you’ve watched where the dad is actually present are Ichigo’s, Souma’s from Food Wars, Thors & Boruto's dad.

Exactly….Zoro & Sanji are both shorter than Robin but anime makes them look taller & same goes for Luffy who’s canonically taller than Nami but anime makes him look shorter I know it ain’t a big deal but it shouldn’t be hard for them to just stick to how Oda designed the characters

True, but I wouldn’t lump Thors in with the usual missing dad trope. As soon as his kids were born, he gave up everything to settle down and be a father. He was fully present and actively raised Thorfinn until his death, that’s way more than most anime dads ever do.

Ron it's not just anime, Even western media a lot of series have terrible parents. Disney was iconic for having shitty parents in all of their animated movies back in the 70-00's. It's an easy trope to put in to add less characters to write about, and also to generate some form of depth to the MC.

Honestly Ron I’m trying to think of good dads in anime. I never realize how many anime the dads are not present or their a villain or both. Most dads in anime are really bad father’s especially the MC’s. I will say one of the greatest dads RIP. I won’t say his name, but from full metal alchemist. Burnett glasses. But then you have the other “FATHERS” pun intended in that anime alone that are just not the best or straight up demonic messed up in the head. Thorfinns dad bro honestly made no mistakes. It was not his fault for what took place.

Its actually a very well know trope. The reason is also very obvious, if the MC had present and good parents, then they would solve the problems for them. Naruto wouldn't have been so outcasted, Gon wouldn't be off in adventures, Goku would know more of the world, etc... that's why when telling a story about a kid or teen, you have to exclude the parents one way or another...

Yup..strangely enough characters in one piece get taller even as full grown adults so you can expect Luffy to get even taller by the end of the story His Grandpa is 9 foot 5 while his Dad is 8 foot 5 so there’s no reason for Luffy & Ace to not get that tall tbf
