Luffy (+his crew) get absolutely smoked so many times in the last two arcs. They’re like flies against these opponents. First, they were nearly annihilated by Admiral Kizaru… Luffy couldn’t even put up a fight against Sentomaru (the sumo guy), and then they were utterly helpless against Kuma. And now….Luffy stood absolutely no chance against Magellan. It’s harsh, but it’s also a reality check about just how powerless they are at this point

As a community we need to remember one piece isn’t like other anime, it’s very very intricate and so much flies over people’s heads. I get where Jibby is coming from though. One of the things you develop as an anime watcher is the ability to scale power. You're not always right but for the most part you can guess how strong someone is relatively. So realistically, there should really be no way Luffy wins here. And when I first watched this, I didn't think Luffy would win. I thought he would escape from the fight using some trickery or something else would happen that would distract Magellan. You also have to watch it and say narratively speaking would it make sense for Luffy to beat Magellan with one punch on floor 3? Every major opponent Luffy has fought has taken multiple episodes and struggle etc. so from that standpoint it wouldn't be that easy.

Guys, are you doing this on purpose? It’s not that they don’t know about the Kairouseki with Hancock, they just got distracted with everything happening. In the case of Ace and Crocodile, they keep saying “he’s going to rescue Ace to help,” they’re not saying Ace is going to do anything on his own. Same with Crocodile when they talk about recruiting him like Mr. 3 and Mr. 2 — they’re not saying Crocodile is going to go out and help by himself. Please, relax. There’s no need to be passive-aggressive or toxic. Let them have their first experience — you don’t need to memorize everything or remember every detail. No one enjoys One Piece that way... we already have one toxic community here, we don’t need another.

Personally I take small notes when I watch with someone else, it helps me remember and have a better discussion. But like I said, as long as they are enjoying themselves and the show that’s all that matters 😊
