Lee is definitely a fan favorite. He actually got his own spin off anime, the only side character to get that treatment. Lee just didn't have much to do with the main story telling in Shippuden. Unfortunate, but I'd prefer what we got over trying to force him into the storylines. Part 1 we get Lee in his glory, part 2 we get Guy in his glory. That's kinda just how it went

Ron, we warned you about Lee so that's on you for getting so attached lmao. To be clear, Rock Lee is a fan favorite. To the point where even Kishimoto was shocked by how popular his character was. Lee even got his own spinoff show as a result. The reason he never got much focus in Shippuden was because he was never meant to be a significant character in the first place (as far as the plot goes), hence Kishimoto's shock. So, him not having a big role in Shippuden made sense from his perspective. As for Metal, Boruto as a show handles its side characters better as far as screen time goes. The only time you won't really see them is in manga canon arcs.

The list they follow has literally no criteria for labelling anything as filler. It feels random. The arc that they skipped was literally Kishimoto's idea too. Hopefully they watch it in their free time. It was fun for me, and it develops Cho-Cho as you said.

The writer just does not care about side characters, he showed no love to Lee , neji , Shino, I think that's part of why Naruto as a whole is disappointing because side characters as re so good they could've each been the main character of their own show but they didn't even get any real attention or important attention .

While yes this is a job, it’s still their choice to react to it or not. They don’t need to listen to what we say just because we pay to watch them. Not even that but if you noticed the episodes that get the most noise is yhat of manga canon. People ARE interested in Boruto and some anime canon but it’s honestly more “profitable” to basically keep that momentum going with more manga arc. Im not evem telling them to skip it all just from episode 70-119 and 220-286. As a viewer i want there experience to be a good one so you cant really blame me for saying what im saying. I love this franchise way too much and dont want them to harbor some negative view of the show.

This is such an underrated arc! Great character development. On the rock lee stuff, he was definitely a fan favorite. One of Kishimoto's weak areas was giving screentime to or including side characters that initially seemed like they would be important: rock lee, tenten, kiba, shino, ino. It's a shame, but hey I guess the anime just used them a lot in fillers that many people skipped unless you were watching weekly lol

The reason you're seeing Metal more than Rock Lee is because you're watching the anime canon. Rock Lee had A LOT of great moments throughout the filler and movies of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.

He literally fell off as a character in Naruto part 1; he peaked with his fight against Gaara. Naruto, Kakashi, & Sasuke were & are much more popular in Japan. Those three stayed in the top 5 the whole manga publication when character popularity polls were held. Rock Lee bounced around between 5 and 13 for Naruto Part 1, his highest rank was 5. The one popularity poll done for the English Shounen Jump, Rock Lee was tied 5th with Sakura. Same thing was done with Sasuke but I think it stayed manga.

Rock Lees character arc pretty much concluded in Part 1 Naruto. All the moments that Rock Lee could’ve had in Shippuden, went to Guy who is a way better character imo. Also based on the popularity polls, his popularity died down by the end of the Sasuke retrieval arc.

anime adds a bunch of stuff even in manga canon arcs to make transitions smoother between pages or panels or to develop characters more. If you really care about manga canon only then you shouldn’t even like Kakashi vs Obito fight, in the manga it was VERY DIFFERENT from what you see in the anime but THE anime made it peak (thanks to Hayato Date and Yamashita Hiroyuki), and nobody was crying OH NOO IT’S NOT CANON LET’S SKIP IT. The anime can add more lore as it pleases in between as long as it hits those plot points established by the manga. Yeah, Rock Lee gets wayyy more screen time than someone like TenTen, we saw her once or twice, same with Kiba and Choji, they are the supporting cast for the supporting cast. I think it's like an Usopp situation, Rock Lee is who we would be if we got thrown into the Naruto world, although the 8 inner gates are pretty wild.

I get wanting to know who parents are but u guys focus so much on who's metals mom lol not every parent is going to be relevant to the story. Or someone we met before. Rock lee could have had an ex that died or they just are not longer together. In original Naruto you know how many parents we didint see. For example who's nejis mom? Who's Hinatas mom? Who's shinos mom? The list goes on. Metals moms identity is not needed so why should they focus on it.

The anime cannon is hit or miss but I like a lot of it. That said the manga cannon is just as good if not better than any Naruto Shippuden or OG Naruto manga material. It just has so much filler and anime cannon mixed around it that people treat the manga like it is also bad when it really isn’t. The boruto manga especially currently is as good as it gets and probably having a better year and a half than any year and half of Naruto ever did. This manga is so good and I wish studio patriot would just stop mishandling the anime adaption
