The manga currently is not that far off from the anime in terms of pacing. So if you are interested in getting deeper into the story, I would suggest purchasing the light novel version, since those are way ahead. Also fun part about reading the light novel is that it doesn't ruin the anime adaptation since there is very little illustration in the novels.

I don't think anybody expected to have fallen so hard for Apothecary Diaries, lol. Maomao really is HER. I'm gonna miss these reactions 🥺 And I'll be the first to let you know if a live action version of Apothecary Diaries is made. Japan would definitely be the first to make it a television drama. Actually, I can't recommend enough off the mountain of awesome Japanese television dramas there are! Romance, Comedy, Action, Mystery, Tearjerkers, lots of live actions of anime/manga that are so, so, good. 😊 *Btw, I would die for a Castlvania reaction*

I don't think that the manga is further than the anime right now. if i remember correctly right now it's where maomao got kidnapped. It got adapted from the light novel which has 15 volumes out currently

Season 3 is currently in production and is tentatively scheduled to air in 2026, or possibly even 2027 if any delays. You can read the original novel, which is the source material for the story. The manga is adapted from the novel and isn’t much further ahead than the anime, so it’s better to read the novel if you want the full experience. This part of the show made me cry every time. Loulan, as the daughter of the current Shi clan leader, carries the burden of her clan’s legacy. She understands that her involvement in the rebellion could cost her life. Loulan faces the consequences of her mother’s actions and scratches Jinshi’s cheek, a symbolic act of defiance, before stepping onto the snowy rooftop, where the Royal Guard takes her life for rebelling and harming a member of the imperial family. Shishou, her father, is loyal to the nation and still loves Shenmei, his wife. Although Shenmei leads the rebellion driven by vengeance and ambition, Shishou remains morally conflicted. He is aware of the clan’s corruption and allows certain plots to unfold, while also working quietly to protect the greater good and limit the damage. He orchestrates the gathering of the “rot” within the clan so that it can be exposed and eliminated by the Emperor along with the rebellion. RIP Loulan~😭 RIP Shishou~ 😢

Ron: No, they're dead. They're dead. They're dead All of us: 😉 It was a tragically beautiful dance from Loulan/Shisui, and for Shisui/Suirei to see it unfold like that makes my heart break for her! Shenmei's insecurities literally dictated her life so that she couldn't see that she had a man who loved her so much, who would give up everything for her. She needed to be important, she needed to lord it over others, so she chose the illusion of power and influence over Shishou. Outwardly, Shishou let Shenmei take the reins, but he remained loyal to the nation in the shadows. Such a sad story for this family.
