Sketchbook Scan: First Signs of Life on Gnufte (Patreon)

It's been a good while since the last sketchbook scan, but I just recently found an old sketchbook I hadn't scanned and there turns out to be a lot of Nitehox stuff in there!!! So let's look at that, starting with this!

This is among the oldest drawings I can find of the character that would be Diamond, or any other member of his species. This is, by my best guess, from the spring of 2016, while I was in the planning stages for The Third One. (The page after this says "The Third One" several times over.)

Aside from the proto-Diamond, most of this page is me exploring animals that I could potentially reference to design a new species, focusing especially on mammals because I expected Diamond's species to be mammalian. I actually expected his species to be the first mammalian aliens seen in the comic, but I hadn't yet designed Scrabatha and her mum yet.

I still haven't named Diamond's species yet, also, don't tell the world-building police. Species are hard to name.
