I'm much more in my wheelhouse when designing characters than designing settings or props, so you'll notice that while character designs gradually shift and evolve, setting and prop designs just kinda, change when I have problems with them. The most prominent example of this is the Stylish Carriage, which I've tweaked and shifted when I recognize a new problem with it.

In this image, the four images highlighted with a blue outline are major appearances of the ship's exterior, the pink images are doodles iterating on the design, and the yellow image is the one attempt I've made to "formalize" the design.

Major changes and points of inconsistency:

  • In the ship's very first appearance, the trailer rotates 90 degrees and looks like a big sack. Immediately after publishing it I thought "no that's not gonna work".  I establish soon after that it's an octagonal prism with visible structure, and that it probably does not rotate like that.
  • The mechanism by which the trailer and truck (these are the right words I think?) are connected is pretty inconsistent. One giant bar in Episode 1, two giant bars in Episode 2, no visible mechanism in Episode 3. Shrug.
  • Episode 2 establishes a "front door" at the front of the ship on its lowest level, but I think that's a little silly. Episode 3 establishes a door on the second, main level, with an airlock and a stairway that folds down. Maybe they both exist? You can see that I'm pretty fluid about this kind of thing.
  • Episode 3 adds six windows to the carriage; overlooking the trash floor. These exist to bring in some light and integrate the interior of the ship with its exterior environment a little bit more;  both in outer space and on planets.
