[FINAL] Twin Fawn (Blood Promise) + Bonus Ramble (Patreon)
Content
I promise I won't make a habit out of naming these like it's an early Lingua Ignota song.
But while Swans' Blood Promise inspired the "vibe" for the initial sketch, Twin Fawn by Chelsea Wolfe is a track that aptly embodies my personal interpretation (theory? Headcanon?) Of DU drow's and Orin's relationship, so!
Putting the Genius.com annotation here for brevity, though I believe that the second paragraph might be a misremembering of the story of Sadhbh, a different celtic myth in which a woman is cursed to turn into a deer after rejecting a druid's advances (the link no longer works). Though if anyone knows what the contributor is talking about, let me know!
Anyways, I am fascinated by the idea that Orin, unbeknownst to herself or otherwise, granted her sibling the gift of freedom and a clean-slate, and that that is a fate either one could have fallen to depending on circumstance - but never both at once, as it's a conclusion that relies on the hatred of the other. Yes, had they had each other's support and love, perhaps escaping Bhaal's cult together would have been possible - but since that sort of relationship could never flourish given the upbringing they had and beliefs they held, resentment that built to forced ostracization was, in it's strange way, an act of love. I like this theory because it also explains why Orin skipped on outright killing her sibling when she has a chance, or at least disabling them past the point of recovery.
Ramble over, enjoy the art and the three different song references I managed to squeeze into this one.
