idk what’s happening, but they keep cooking! the character dynamics are off the wall insane in this show, and this episode further proves that. also, side note, can okarun freaking apologize to jiji, yknow damn well that wasn’t his fault 😭

jons

when they say "jiji's spirit", they are not talking about evil eye, they are talking about jiji's behaviour

The audio is audible without volume boost? Now that's new!

wesley said he had memories of piano practice, i think “your lie in april” would be a good watch! fair warning: it’s devastating 😭

Momo was reading a parody version of "Ashita no Joe," a classic from the 70s that has influenced many other manga. You should read it — it's currently published in the US as "Tomorrow's Joe."

I'm gonna theorize heavily here, but in Shinto (and animistic beliefs in general) it's believed that spirits are everywhere all at once, and so as long as you have a focus (photo, hair, things left over, or even vivid memories and a candle) you can commune with a specific spirit and the idea is that they will be present even if you can't see them. So I think that's what would be happening if this show made any sense at all 😂 I could be right, or it could be aliens. Who knows? Speculation 2: in witchcraft/wiccae/certain flavors of paganism the witching hour is a period between 2-4 am when the veil is thinnest. So again, that could be why they showed us the clock and I could be onto something, or author was just thinking "they come at night because spooky ghosts only show up at night" for all I know lol those are my strongest guesses though ☺️

How do we get those too traumatized by made in abyss?

RCG

There were a few minor things I didn’t really like in season 1, but overall the anime as a whole is amazing. The consistently high quality, the diversity and probably most importantly the pacing - everything feels really good. It’s impressive.

I think this is a minor spoiler for Made in Abyss, one of the best aspect of Made in Abyss is it’s shock factor

that "ora! ora! ora!" scene reminds me of Jojo's bizarre adventure

I feel bad for Jiji when Okarun pushed him away;((

Steph: "Where are Aira's parents?" 🤣

Billbob

Yeah idk, sure the evil eye outbursts arent jiji's fault but this entire situation is completely his fault for stopping the exorcism earlier and electing to keep evil eye in him. So its hard not to get mad at him for bringing this fully preventable element of chaos into their lives. Would be like electing to save some pitbull with a history of biting people and keeping it at home, sure its not at fault for how it is but ytf are you getting everyone into this situation in the first place

Mr Runic

"Where are Aira's parents?" Well we know where her mom is, and her ghost "mom".

Gabriel KD

For what a catastrophe entity they have on their hands, they are ridiculously careless. But I guess that keep the drama happening.

Don't know if either of you will even see this but: Can't say for sure as far as real life goes, but in animeland, basically every school in Japan has what's called the "7 mysteries", i.e. seven ghost stories that are particularly popular or lasting (the students may literally pass them down like tradition). Some of the stories may vary depending on the region, but the most prominent ones are, Toire no Hanako-san (a ghost girl that shows up in the third stall of the third floor's toilet if someone calls for her, she can range from harmless to drag the person to hell depending on the version of the legend), The anatomical model that walks around at night (in DanDaDan, that's Taro), and The piano that plays itself at night (which in the end of this episode, was the DanDaDan version of it). A lot, if not most, animes that have "school + supernatural" setting will reference, make mention, or outright have cameos or instances of the 7 mysteries, so yeah, in-universe, it's not that Momo and Okarun's school is particularly bad, probably any school has similar things happening. By the way, each school having their own "7 mysteries" is probably true in real life too. Japan has such a prominent tie to the supernatural, millions of gods, a myriad of yokai, and of course, a vast amount of haunted houses, tunnels, bridges and what have you. If you start researching Japan's history with the supernatural, you may just end in a rabbit hole that will consume you for years (and that's one of the coolest things about it).
