this show takes me back to the intro to psych,soc, and anthro class I took in high school and I genuinely loved that class. like it was one of the very few that really interested me where I can fully focus on the lecture and discussions especially since it was during 2021 and I was just so mentally checked out of school at that point in time.

the discussion about funerals reminded me of this funny reel I saw on IG about what this girl wanted for her funeral when she died. she listed so many little things like playing her fav music and serving her fav food similar to Steph as well. the funeral she described truly sounded like, at its core, a celebration of life and I think that it's really sweet.

also on the topic of inbreeding, (not so) fun fact, darwin actually married his (first) cousin and his work made him wonder whether the deaths of some of his children had something to do with him marrying within the family.

Your telepathy with each other it's always on point 😂 sometimes I get really surprised when you finish each other's sentences so naturally and you don't seem to notice it. And I have the same situation of sleeping when I listen to something I'm interested in 😭 I love true crime videos but they are often voiced by people with calm voices so I struggle with paying attention

I believe that humans are the only creatures who pay for things that nature provides for free. For example, when an animal in the wild is thirsty, they’ll drink the water from the lake. In contrast, humans have to work hard to afford to pay for drinking water. And so, for me humans are a social creature whose life is filled with intentionally added self-inconvenient societal norms… does that make sense? Loll I don’t even know what I’m writing anymore..

interesting historical figure you say? I'm going for Napoleon but not that one, I'm going for Napoleon the third (the famous ones nephew). he spent large parts of his life in exile or a french prison, failed multiple coups, then somehow got himself elected as president following the french revolution of 1848, did a coup against his own government to become emperor of the second french empire, re-vitalised paris, improved french economy and urbanisation, restored france as a respected, international power, won wars in Italy and the crimea, sent forces into mexico (check out the second mexican empire, its fun) and yet the only thing he is remembered for is losing to Bismarck and Moltke's Prussian machine in 1870/71.... his last ever words, again in England in exile, being him asking for confirmation he wasn't a coward. Just a fascinating life, and a sad ending. He also volunteered as a policeman in London, which not many emperors can say they did.
