Souffle

I think Tommy is right, given the point that he comes into the Italian argument, that they have to go the full way now to maintain order - I also think John was beyond stupid to take it to that point in the first place, and that it's definitely a mix of pride and a lingering something for Lizzie. There was no reason shown why Angel couldn't accompany Lizzie to the wedding and, if anything, having one of the big Italian families on side by being involved with one of Tommy's trusted people would be a great thing for the family with Sabini out of the picture... John just sparked conflict for no reason 😩

Klaus

1:01:42 The actor of patrick jarvis, the guy wesley recognised but couldnt place it, is neil's dad from the inbetweeners. Weirdest crossover ever

Magz

The bald guy with the priest at the end of the episode is the same actor as Neil’s dad from inbetweeners

I think when the Georgian told Tommy his people will never be weak again it changed his opinion or at least manipulated his opinion on John’s situation because he quoted him in that family meeting. It also ties into the first scene of the episode that Tommy was saying that he expects fear so going on the offensive is his way of impacting fear on business partners or people below them

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Michael say to Lizzy, that no foreigners would be invited due to Tommy's orders. That's why Angle couldn't come.

Souffle

I just checked it to make sure - Michael says they tried to talk Lizzie out of it because he had been using fake names (so it seems they didn't trust him) and it's only as he and Arthur are walking away that Arthur says 'until further notice, no fraternising with the foreigners'. So it seemed more like a trust issue, though I'm not sure why as all he would have been doing is sitting with Lizzie (and as Wes and Steph say, Lizzie isn't integral in the same way blood family are so if they were that worried about Angel theoretically sneaking around, they could just get a new secretary and keep the peace by letting their relationship stand) At the end of the day though, it just makes for a good way to move the plot along ;)

Gabrielle

The reason they all didn’t want lizzy to be with Angel was because Angel had been doing shady business behind Lizzys back and was using fake names and involved in a lot of bad things, John has always had a connection with lizzy and still has a lot of love for her (in season 1 lizzy and John were going to get married) so I think he wanted to protect her from the Italians and knew Angel was up to no good, however he should not of gone that far. But something that always comes up and always has come up throughout this series and more so in the real life story of the peaky blinder brothers, John wears his heart on his sleeve and is loyal to a fault. When he has love for someone he will do anything to protect them. He saw red and couldn’t control his emotions towards the situation, the first time I watched it I was so pissed off with John but the more I watch it and the more I read I get johns point of view and understand more about his character.

I don't think john likes lizzie still, it more of a power trip thing. Also michael mentioned that it was tommy's orders that lizzie can't hang with angel because of his shady business. Also if they let her leave she might know alot of secrets already. I think john messed up when he insulted the guy but its mostly from a place of power and even tommy sided with him.

Zak

not georgian instead of russian, but a Georgian noble instead of a Romanov (Imperial family of Russia). So basically, he was overstating his rank and importance.

Zak

Also worth noting the support of the British royal family for Russians stems from, yes class loyalty but also the fact the King was the Tsar's cousin, and close friend.

Rinakin

The British crown and government was giving a LOT of support to Russian aristocracy that fled the revolution for many reasons. 1. The British royal family is related to Russian royal family 2. Generally, once the revolution started, the rest of European monarchies that were left were outraged and in deep fear that it could spread and come to them, so they offered sanctuary to their aristocracy as a matter of solidarity. 3. There was actually some shadiness on the part of the British king. Russian Tsar was his cousin, and Russian Tsar (the dad of Anastasia lol) together with his many children and wife, believed that the British king would send a ship and people to get him out of Russia and save him. The British kiiinda promised doing it, but the king and his government (mostly government) were reluctant bc they felt that it could be tricky situation for them, so while they were debating whether or not to help him, his family got brutally killed. And then afterwards, they kept helping Russian aristocrats as a way to wash that guilt a bit as well.

Wes And Steph

Ah that’s right I had heard that before! I thought they even looked alike?

Zak

they looked very similar, more like brothers, same facial hair and all, worth looking up a picture.
