I actually don't understand what happened throught the head of the translator at crunchyroll to translate "chihuahua musume" as "leash girl". Just write "chihuahua girl". This is at least the second time they have done this.

Well, i can understand since it is a gag on japanese words. Yuri calls Anya Chihuahua girl because earlier, when he said "Chi wa chikara!" which means "Knowledge is power" and what Anya repeated back to him, clearly misunderstanding what he said as "Chiwawa chikara?" which would be "Chihuahua power?". This part was clearly not easy to translate without that context to an english audience, so they had translated what Anya repeated back to him as "No leash is power?". His nickname for Anya is basically a callback to Anya's "stupidity" for not understanding that phrase. So they are just sticking to their previous localization, given the context. I personally think that they actually did a great job here.

I do get that and I remember the scene but (and I know it's really sweaty) personally would prefer anotations to explain this kind of things, especially when in the anime they showed a buffed chihuahua and also dont believe they should carry that localization to the end of the show. If it were in the dub I would have no problem with that since I don't watch dubs, and if I did it wouldn't be in english since it's not my native language. My """"problem"""" is when in the sub I hear "chihuahua musume" and read "leash girl". I don't doubt that there were people that got the call back to that scene with Yuri but of all the reactors I watched they were all like "the fuck?" when they read the "leash" thing since they don't hear the "chihuahua" part the VA is actually saying.
