StrawHatYa

It’s that time of week again

miles shepard

3:48 Erm, actually those are jelly donuts ☝️🤓

Hayate

Ms All Sunday, if evil why hot

NoSoupRice

An organization whose objective is to lead a nation with a charismatic leader whose true identity is unknown to its members and goes by an alias of Zero? Sounds familiar.

mogeki

Whiskey Peak is the name of the town they when to. That town is on Cactus Island.

Pablo Aguirre

All my homies love one piece Friday

Eric van Eeden

and with this the new opening has no spoilers

Leonard Martinez

Even today, this Luffy and Zoro fight remains my least favorite part of the entire series.

yahdier

Are you guys gonna watch the openings?

Oden

Oda previously answered in SBS(where oda answers fans questions) on why he did not give luffy a stronger or more destructive fruit that it kept the silly vibe in the show and prevent luffy from being too powerful too quickly

KingKuto

Karoo is goated, one of my fave characters

Nao

A fun fact: Karoo's voice actor is the same voice actor as Sanji, and I think thast so cute Also, Nami's voice actress changed for most of Little Garden because she took a break while she was pregnant and had her baby, so you might have heard her voice a little different, but she returns in a few episodes And Ms. All Sunday is one of my favorite characters; the villains are amazing in this saga

Derpin

This part is where I knew Zoro was my favorite over Luffy. He was too stupid here. How could Luffy believe Zoro would cold hardily attack people for no reason? Especially after the stuff with Nami and how he refused to believe that she would betray them no matter what anybody said.

A.G

Spoiler 52:57 is this the beginning of minority hunter zoro and woman beater luffy?

Atlas Creation

I wish I could be as unfunny as you.

Kret

I see you too are a conasure of bad 90s translations when they thought kids where to stupid to be told what things are (specifically Pokémon)

TxSadz

Yes miss Sunday my favourite character lol

Michael H

I always go back and forth on that scene. I hated it the first time I watched it because it felt so out of character for Luffy; then I started liking it because I started seeing it as just a comedic excuse for Luffy and Zoro to have a sibling fight; and now I’m back to not caring for it again lol. Regardless, it is definitely one of the bigger character stretches Oda ever does for a couple cool scenes.

kinetic98

Just wanted to say that IRL pirates would rape and pillage entire villages back in the day

Aafjhia

no shit, this is a Shonen anime not an irl documentary. literally no point of this comment

Michael H

Karoo is best duck of all fiction. Lookin’ at you Donald and Daffy.

Arian Abdolahy

Well, I believe you can make your character stupid AND have a sibling fight without it needing to feel out of character. One could call this the third inconsistency in writing where plot is forced rather than unfolds organically. The first was Luffy not being able to get out of the stone in Arlong Park, the second was at the execution place in Loguetown and the third is really believing that Zoro just killed them for no reason and fighting seriously and telling him to die. Although for me it felt believable, since Luffy's logic was: people give food = people good, people bad impossible, Zoro attacks good people = Zoro bad. I mean Arlong's crew displayed their evilness, who knows what Luffy would have thought if Arlong invited them for a buffet too? For the other two examples there's just no good explanation anyone could give.

Arian Abdolahy

Wow, I didn't noticed that about Nami. Didn't notice any difference at all, haha. They did a good job.

Arian Abdolahy

I thought it was pretty funny but it's interesting to see how it's perceived. But if Luffy is that stupid a logical consequence would be for an enemy to use that against him and manipulate Luffy against his crew.

Arian Abdolahy

It doesn't sound familiar to me. Mhm... maybe an Anime I haven't seen? Code Geass maybe?

Arian Abdolahy

Fun fact: In german Miss All Sunday is called Miss Bloody Sunday.

Nao

Yes and as an extra, the actress playing Nami is Nojiko's VA.

Derpin

I can understand some of that but the only part I can't really get behind is Luffy's unwillingness to even hear Zoro out. Zoro so far has put full faith into Luffy. Even with some if his more questionable decisions he puts up with and all the times he got injured by him too.

Karin

I liked the fight. I realize a lot interpreted it as Luffy not trusting Zoro enough despite Zoro proving his boundless loyalty on multiple grounds at this point. But to me, this interaction just complimented their mutual respect and affection for each other in a multifaceted aspect. Luffy, in his endless belief in people, acted in that faith and didn't think ill of those who have welcomed and fed them. Instead, he instinctively held Zoro, someone whom he already holds in high regard, accountable, possibly thinking that his most loyal friend should know better. Confrontations and misunderstandings in true friendships aren't wrong in the slightest. It would have been more out of character for Luffy to not hold his friend accountable for what he deemed was a disrespect to people who worked hard to welcome them (in his view) and are far less stronger than they are. In the same way, Zoro didn't get hurt from Luffy's accusations. He knew and respected Luffy enough that his violent response came with good intentions for people. He didn't run from the confrontation or hold any grudges, keeping faith in how simple-minded and generally well-intentioned Luffy is. The fight for them is just a way to resolve misunderstanding in their language as comrades and close friends, plus resolving egos in their friendship. In the simplest way, it was affirming.

Gelondil

I think Miss All-Sunday should count herself lucky that Luffy didn't deck her on the spot for stealing his hat - especially right after what she did to Igaram.

I back, trust me, i back

Each chapter of the One piece manga has a cover which has the logo, the name of the chapter, and an illustration. Usually the illustration is something random and later on Oda takes readers request on what to draw on the cover. For example the most recent chapter cover request was Gold Roger walking with a T Rex. Although every once in a while we get cover stories that run for multiple chapters. That’s where this Koby and Helmeppo story comes from. It ran from chapters 83 to 119. The buggy and alvida stuff right before Lougetown was also a cover story. Unfortunately this is the last cover story the anime adapts to my knowledge. I guess since the cover stories are told with single illustrations with some text at the bottom they are harder to adapt because lots of things happen in between each illustration. It is a shame though cause each cover story is 100% canon and gives insights and what some characters are doing behind the scenes. Once you guys are further along it will definitely be worth it to check out the cover stories you missed out on.

Fun fact: Miss Wednesday being Vivi undercover was not originally planned. She was just supposed to be an ordinary henchman for Baroque works. Oda had planned for the alabasta plot and needed a princess for it and hadn't designed her yet. Then when he drew Miss Wednesday with her hair down he though she looked like a princess and suddenly made her into the princess he needed on a whim instead of designing a new character.

Ethereal

It's surprisingly out-of-character for Luffy too. He wouldn't beat a nakama for no reason and without hearing them out.

Ethereal

Karoo reminds me of a chocobo! Which makes sense since I believe around this time Oda was playing Final Fantasy VIII.

Arian Abdolahy

You're absolutely right in pointing that out. But I guess when you're mad you're not in the mood to hear someone out, lol. But I still can imagine it being in character for Luffy to have that much of a temper and acting on impulse. What I can't get behind is Luffy saying "Die!" and actually fighting seriously. That's like: Wtf?! That's your most loyal friend?! Wouldn't confronting Zoro be more in character?! Like you can still be angry, you could maybe even give him one punch to the face but actually to keep fighting seriously, beyond just one punch and saying "Die!"?!?! That's like the opposite of Luffy's moral compass. What if he injured Zoro seriously? What if he would be responsible for someone's death? I kinda hate One Piece for apparently having no real world consequences like in Jujutsu Kaisen, as if nothing really bad could happen. In Jujutsu Kaisen a mistake like that could get his friend killed because the enemy is not just waiting and watching and it's not a cartoon where you survive every explosion. Apparently Luffy's stupidity is oftentimes used as a cover up for bad writing. I feel like if it would be conistent writing none of us would have a reaction like that. Like I observed Wes and Steph react and neither in Jujutsu Kaisen nor in Hunter x Hunter did they ever react like "Why can't he just free himself?", like they did on the execution platform with Luffy. And in Hunter x Hunter and Jujutsu Kaisen there is plenty of stupidity too, but it's not out of character or messes with the in world logic.

Arian Abdolahy

I love details like that. Thank you!

V

Steph’s facial expressions be killing me 🤣

Nostalgino MO

XD vivi and igram killed thousands of pirate and were about the kill the entire crew, is anyone i one piece really a good person

Cooljo

You should watch episode 69 of One Piece. They cut almost everything from the episode and there were some great Helmeppo and Garp moments

Luz

1:47:00 "is this foreshadowing a futuristic island?" while he's not wrong he is just 1100+ episodes too early
