Infinite Winds

It's the most, wonderful time, of the weeeeeeek 🎵

eXxCeZz

holy thats early :D

Fabien

You didn't miss anything you'd want to see this ep, but be careful you have a censored version (it's weird it wasn't the case in the previous episodes, which also featured messed stuff). Ensure your versions isn't censored in the future. Here you just missed the sight of caster killing someone so it's ok.

Infinite Winds

You can watch the OP now, as Sola was the last character to be introduced that appears in it The ED has major hints about the true identities of each Servant. Berserker's is the only one you don't know at this point and his hint is the least obvious, so you could or could not watch it depending how vigilant you want to be about avoiding spoilers

This is gonna be a lil history detour from Fate stuff. Gilles de Rais was a French noble and general who fought alongside Joan of Arc during the Hundred Years' War. He wasn’t just some random soldier either, he was made Marshal of France and was part of the campaigns where he helped turn things around for France, like Orléans. After Joan got captured and burned in 1431, Gilles basically fell off from military life. A few years later he was arrested and executed after being accused of murdering a lot of children. A lot of people call him one of the first serial killers, though there’s still debate about how reliable the confessions were since torture was involved. As for Joan herself, her story is still insane. She was a peasant girl who claimed she was guided by God, convinced the French court to give her an army, helped lift the siege of Orléans, and got Charles VII of France crowned. That’s not even exaggerated, that actually happened. Like some random peasant girl just winning one of the biggest wars of all time x)

Infinite Winds

Very draconian censorship as well in this episode, basically just cutting into a wall while the atrocities happen

eXxCeZz

same they should make sure to watch the uncensored / directors cut of UBW, at least for cour 2 thats like 30 minute of extra material

Runhua Tang

I think what makes Kirei special to Gilgamesh is the fact that Gilgamesh has little to no power over him: Kirei appears to have no desires and no care for his own well-being, so Gilgamesh cannot tempt him with rewards or intimidate him with force. From Gilgamesh's perspective, Kirei is definitely the most interesting person he's met so far.

Sum Ting Wong

one thing about kirei, in episode one, kiritsugu was saying that he has almost mastered everything there is (basically 99% of each type, like alchemy, etc), then he switched to other types before reaching 100%. So he is basically very very good at everything i guess

Zen

They should watch both the OP and ED at this point. IMHO the fun part about Fate is figuring out the identity of the Servants with your own knowledge.

Jaime Rivas

I need two episodes each week so bad T.T

Ninoyiya

Kirei definitely got hands.

Ethereal

The Root is a concept that reappears in Fate. But it is essentially the source of everything in existence. All events (past/present/future), all phenomena, all souls, etc hence why it exists "outside of this world". Many mages view it as their ultimate goal to reach the repository of knowledge that is the Root.

Cong Hui

Reaching the Root is like the final objective of 'traditional' mages. I guess you can think of it as similar to reaching Truth in FMAB, though it's a LOT harder to reach the Root.

DemoniCross

OP and ED next episode please :D

eXxCeZz

I feel like OP have a major spoiler lol

rryutie

Knew it was too good to be true. Refreshingly fun subtitles... but then the sh*tty corporation like crunchyroll or netflix (idk who they're watching from) censoring the actual content.

rryutie

You guys interpret the character's dialogue so well and add a lot with your knowledge and interpretations. I've never seen any reactors read into characters like you guys have. Your reaction to this anime is pretty much a treasure on the likes of the holy grail. Can't wait for next week!

sasha

The rule doesn't totally condemn the killing of civilians during an Holy Grail War as there is a lot of magecraft and such that you can use with dead body and killing people however they forbid exposing magic to the public (it's why the scuffle with Saber/Lancer/Berserker and Rider at the bay was covered in the news as an accidental explosion) which Caster and his Master are on they're way to do with their mindless killings. Now for Gilles de Rais He was a French Marshall who fought by the sides of Jeanne D'Arc. After the war and her burning at he stakes he advocated for her being a saintly. He ended being arrested and executed for the r*pe and murder of 140 children. He is often cited as the inspiration of the french fairy tale of Blue Beard (which is why he used that name as a pseudonym in the beginning of Fate/Zero). In modern day it is put in question by historian the scale of his act notably with how some rumor and how confession where gained under torture such would have exaggerated the fact however with extremely detailed testimony of children disparition and the confession extremely detailed of ritual murder found nowhere else it isn't put into question that he was indeed guilty of the crime he was accused off.

Kindyh Bordat

French history fan here! His name is spelled Gilles de Rais (pronounced Jill duh Ray). He was a companion-in-arms to Jeanne d'Arc (Joan of Arc) during the Hundred Years War. He was a highly skilled military commander who helped France immensely and was even named a Marshal of France. After Jeanne's execution, his life eventually spiraled out of control. He retired to his estates, squandered his massive fortune, and turned to the occult and alchemy. During this time, a huge number of children began disappearing in the surrounding areas. Authorities eventually discovered he was responsible for kidnapping and murdering them, leading to his trial and execution in 1440. A popular theory suggests he was romantically in love with Jeanne and that her tragic death caused him to lose his faith in God, triggering his descent into madness. (Mainly because of Fate actually XD, because the most probable reason was that he wanted to use dark magic to gain his wealth back.) If you read this can we please have 2 episodes T-T, there are so much fate content it will take forever. Also can you please watch the uncensored version ? It's on Crunchyroll.

Klinch

A possibility for 2 episodes a week is great news :D

Nero

I just rewatched the OP to make sure, but what major spoiler?

Iriza

I have a feeling Wes Lee would love GATE: Thus the JSDF Fought There. It's basically an entire anime about modern military vs fantasy kingdom.

Shiroufan11

same here, though it definitely won't be next week as ep 11 of oshi no ko is like triple length.

James Shaw

This episode brings up 2 very interesting plot points the first being the compatibility of servants and their master. Masters who chose to summon servants based on their expected power in this case basically got servants that they will never have gotten along with in life. Case in point, Archer and Tokiomi, Saber and Kiritsugu. Archer being too prideful to be controlled by anyone while Tokiomi is too much of a straight man. Saber being too honorable while Kiritsugu being the mage killer that he is, prefers subterfuge and assassinations. Masters who chose their servant for utility seems to work pretty well with Kirei and Assassin. Then you have the other end of the spectrum with Caster and Ryuunosuke and Rider and Waver, where no choices were made and somehow put 2 VERY compatible persons together. The Berserker class also eliminates a large portion of this contention because, well, Berserker. The other plot point is Kirei's personal motivation. In episode 1 when going through Kiritsugu's personal profile, Kirei commented that Kiritsugu doesn't seem to be motivated by money and has a death wish. So far that has progressed to the point where Kirei is interested in Kiritsugu on a personal level and remarked that he thinks they were similar while Kiritsugu took one look at Kirei's profile and saw an imcomprehensible monster. Also just some clarifications, Kirei is basically an elite priest who went through all the educational courses the church could offer but in the end chose to be an executioner, a heretic hunter. It's like going into the army, getting training to be a pilot, doctor, engineer and excelling at all of it. Finally at the end of all that instead of becoming a general or astronaut, he chose to go into doing wet work as a black ops operator. Sounds like either someone with a death wish or just in it for the love of the game.

Gavern

Except with Waver a choice was made. He used the catalyst he stole from his teacher which was connected to Iskander. The grail didn't just throw them together.

eXxCeZz

Not gonna name the spoiler, but it happens in episode 15.

jom

Finally it's OP time, it's sung by LiSA and is very iconic!

Infinite Winds

They won't know what they're looking at until it happens

kinetic98

Well next time there is a fire alarm in my building i'll make sure to leave first lol

NECOdes

I still have ptsd from the manga of F/Zero and depiction of Ryuunosuke, it was so gory and brutal.

TheEnd187

Except Kirei is a specialist in everything
