I’ve been waiting ❤️

SLF needs more love

I really like the tangent that this movie brought from you

Rush

A couple of fun facts that I love sharing about this far into the series: 1) The ending song as you've probably noticed is sung by the main female lead's voice actress for each arc, but Kaede's voice actress, Yurika Kubo, recorded two separate versions one for Kaede-Chan and one for Kaede-San. The Kaede-chan version plays at the end of S1 E 11-12 before Kaede-san returns, but at the end of this movie the ending is cut up to include both versions singing specific verses and both are present and overlayed during the chorus. 2) The voice actress who plays Rio Futaba, Atsumi Tanezaki, also is the voice of other well known characters in other animes such as Frieren in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Anya in Spy x Family, and Lady Gyoukyou in The Apothecary Diaries. Love the videos wish y'all the best

Super long comment lol but this is re: the exposure to work tangent In the uk we have something called work experience where in year 10 (I think? Maybe year 9? It’s around American grade 10 or 11 I think, we’re like 15 or so I believe) where we get to choose literally any job at all and we do 2 weeks of work experience there, you can do 1 place for 2 weeks or 2 places 1 week each (at least this is how it all worked in my school back like 10yrs ago lol). So those 2 weeks you don’t go to school and you go to ‘work’, it’s unpaid so I guess kinda like a mini internship? Some people go to their parents jobs or parent’s friends jobs. Some people just do random stuff they kinda wanna try etc. I was unfortunately very unlucky and couldn’t get accepted ANYWHERE, I called and applied for so many random things lol and I didn’t have a family that had any work connections at all so what ended up happening was that I did my 2 weeks experience at the school. So I helped random teachers as their teaching assistant, I spent a couple days in the school library, some time on reception like trying all sorts around the school! It was actually very chill so I’m not mad that’s how my work experience panned out lol. But that was our exposure to work before leaving school at 16! So around 1-2 years before we finish. However in the uk we then do college (or 6th form) for a year or 2 (unless you go straight into work at 16 and choose not to do further education) and we have these things called BTECs which are college courses you take that focus on one specific industry and part of the education is that you also do work experience there but in that field, you also learn theory and learn the practical stuff, so we have them for stuff like plumbing, building, farming, all sorts of vocations like that! All of my college education was BTECs, I did 2 years of floristry. So I have a level 2 diploma and level 3 certificate in floristry specifically. You can then go onto to learn these things at uni level too (American college). There’s normal college too but these things are great for exposing you to and getting you in a specific industry! You can also just keep going to college and doing different courses and stuff if you want! I wanted to eventually go back and do my level 4 and 5 floristry courses (which would then be uni level degrees) however I couldn’t afford it at the time and now they’ve stopped doing those courses on the official accreditation board thing because of low admission 😭 I’ve heard talk that they’re rewriting the curriculums though so there’s still hope for me one day! Also in my primary school in year 6 and year 5 (America grade 6 and 7 I think?) we had these things called workshops, where on certain days instead of classes we would go to a “workshop” which was basically like a club but in school hours, there were limited numbers in each ‘subject’ so you had to choose your top 5 or so from the list of options and hope you got into your top choices lmao. These workshops weren’t necessarily work related or introductions to work but they centred around hobbies and interests that could spark your interest about certain career options! So in my time in school I did a drama workshop that let me try out theatre stuff, a riddles and puzzles workshop which introduced me to problem solving and stuff, a cheerleading workshop, a freestyle dance workshop, a book club type of workshop all about reading books and talking about them, a Hinduism workshop where I learnt all about the religion and culture from one of our teachers that was Hindu, there’s a few more I can’t remember right now but there were tons of options! Oh gardening was one and cross stitch was another! So these things were great for expanding our minds about what’s out there, what we like to do etc. In year 4 (grade 5) we had mandatory recorder lessons and in year 5 (grade 6) we had mandatory cello/violin/viola lessons (you got assigned an instrument based on your height and stuff so I got a cello because I was already like 5’6 at 9yrs old lol but I changed to violin bc I hated carrying it around). So we had a couple years where we were forced to try out music to see if we liked that. There’s also job fairs for years 11’s (grade 12) about to finish school where you can speak to employers and companies, see what types of jobs are about and all sorts. So yeah thinking back we actually got a really decent look into different jobs and subjects and interests to expand our horizons and if we really latched onto something we could look up how to pursue it as a job or further education! Sorry for the essay lmfao

I have a lot of family in the education field, & my senior year of high school I was the teacher’s aid for one of the coaches, and while I do think I would’ve enjoyed coaching itself… seeing how much teachers have to put up with & do for so little pay made me choose to NOT do that. This show always drives such interesting discussions from y’all though, love it! This Kaede is basically a different character from the sister we knew in S1, so it makes sense for her to get her own arc! Basically losing 2 years in such a pivotal developmental period of your life would be hard to bounce back from! (Their high school is 3 years starting in what would be our 10th grade, so she basically is having to try to go into high school having missed 8th & 9th grade. Or rather than missing, may be more accurate to say she is still mentally a year or 2 behind her body altogether… high school entrance exams over there when mentally like 13 years old would be rough…) & regarding him not really giving a straightforward answer when it comes to comparing them… rather than thinking one is easier to get along with or anything like that, I feel like it’s more accurate to say that Sakuta sees them as separate individuals in a lot of ways… it’s like he has 2 sisters. Of course he’s going to be sad if one disappears, but he’s equally as happy that he got the other back. That’s why it’s not such a simple question to answer… but he loves them all the same, she’s just been scared that that wasn’t the case, & she’s scared everyone else preferred the other version of her.

I love this movie and the next one. They've pretty much followed the novels chronologically from season 1 to the movies and season 2. As for why they made these 3 movies, these stories are fairly self contained in terms of resolving its main conflict, so it made more sense to do 1 continuous film rather than cutting them up into 20-24 min episodes.

Blocklv55

Don't worry in terms of running out of Rascal content, even after season 2 they've announced a movie to adapt the final 2 light novels and finish the series that will release later this year in Japan and probably early next year on streaming.

Sharrpfangs

Wow bunny girl ending this year is crazy they even named the final movie for after season 2 the same name as the final light novel name that’s crazy I’m definitely picking up this series books for my collection

From what I know Japanese work age is 13 for light labour and some entertainment jobs but for the most part it's 15 but no night shifts until you are 18 there's also a limit on how many hours but I don't know what they are

rogueknight

Love following along with you on this journey. While the first movie and this one is sooo good. The next movie is my personal favorite. Can't wait

Wes And Steph

That sounds like you guys had way way more opportunities than us, and I also appreciate that it sounds like not everyone has to do Uni to get a job. Here it’s either trade school or university. And it’s crazy to me you got ASSIGNED instruments 🤯. Here anyone without their own instrument just had to do choir

CD Elio

Oh I'm so excited for the next movie especially for Steph to watch it. If you know you know hehe

This is November this year noh?

Blocklv55

The film will release October 16th in Japan, the western release will probably follow in November or December

Regarding the movies, I think they decided to do three because they act as a really good bridge between the two seasons. The first movie wrapped up what had always been the big, overarching mystery and puberty syndrome plot going on in the background throughout the first season with Sakuta's scar and Shoko-san/chan. For the two movies which followed that one it's worth mentioning that for their theatrical release they were presented as a dual feature, and both of them sort of accomplish the same task of wrapping up many other narrative threads from the first season such Kaede's returned memories and the Azusagawa parents and Sakuta's relationship with them. Simultaneously, they begin the process of introducing narrative hooks for the second season. Basically, the three movies sort of act as a doorway or transitional frame for moving from season 1 into season 2. It seems really fitting of course to handle the Shoko situation with a movie given the gravity of it and how significant it was, but the second and third movies also feel better presented as movies too because they wouldn't have felt quite right sitting as the first handful of episodes of a new season given how closely they still tied into everything from season 1.
