easily one of my favourite episodes in anime. such a crazy revelation

domi

senkus dad is my roman empire 😭😭

Pretty sure you already asked the question about what would happen if you were in space back in episode one but then never came back to it, lol. Regarding people not getting hit underground or deep underwater: obviously, we don't know for sure. However, we saw planes getting hit by the petrification and commercial planes typically fly at an altitude of around 11 kilometers, which is roughly the same as the depth of the deepest point on Earth, the Mariana Trench. If we assume that the light/wave travels about the same distance downward into the Earth as it does upward into the atmosphere, then there really wouldn't be any way to stay out of reach other than being in space.

Just wanna share that the final episode of Dr Stone anime aired today. Looking forward to rewatch the series with ya'll each week!

Ethereal

It's been a few years but RIP to Byakuya's voice actor Keiji Fujiwara (also known for HxH's Leorio). One of the greats!

Joshua Moore

It’s my headcannon that some random people unpetrifcated

Dr Stone's author is really good at being science-minded, but just to save you from weeks of confusion and headache, the Genetic Variety issue is never addressed nor explained. We will have to grant some creative license on that one. The Actual Science: In biology, there's a thing called the "50/500 rule" that describes the number of creatures required for a species to survive. About 50 is the absolute minimum, with 500 being an estimate for the population needed to maintain positive genetic diversity. Even assuming the six astronauts had a "perfect" distribution of DNA (unlikely considering 4/6 of them are blonde), and they made every effort to maximize that genetic variance shortly after returning to earth, it's still impossible for their descendants to have avoided EXTREME inbreeding problems, especially for thousands of years.

Gelondil

Lol, yeah, it was almost the first thing Wes asked out of the gate once the premise was set up. Really made me want to comment, "yeah, about that...."

Alvaro Vesga

I think there was some people who "de-petrified" with the course of the years just as senku woke up by himself so maybe the group born from the astronauts meet another group from people that de-petrified and that "helped" genetic variety issue.......I love this episode so much qwq cannot wait for next episode

Gavern

After 3000 years, everyone in the village will be a mix of all six of them.

I mentioned it in an earlier episode, but this is the one that explains to a degree how the language was kept intact, through strict oral tradition. Otherwise, it makes no sense that Kohaku and Senku would even speak the same language to each other on their first meeting. That being said, realistically there is absolutely no way they should still understand each other. Even if you started with the same language and then ordered the population to not change it, that sentiment would get lost over a thousand years, much less three thousand. English is an easy example of this. In four hundred years, the language has changed enough that it is difficult to impossible to read the original writings of Shakespeare or the King James Bible. Now, I know a counter example could be Latin, which was used by the church as the language of the Bible (the Vulgate), and Latin has not changed almost at all in 2,000 years, but that's because it's a dead language. Languages evolve when they are used. People can't invent or reinterpret meaning when they don't use it. Conversely, using a language means it *will* change. Point is, Senku's Japanese and Ishigami village's Japanese shouldn't really be compatible. It's obviously more convenient for the story if it is, though, so it's better to just let it slide. 😅

Maybe the inbreeding problem is why Mantle is like that

MikiMiki

yeah, i really think some people de-petrified even faster than Senku, it's the only logical explanation, especially considering the third season

TheSlothSmile

Spoiler : for the others: NOT the Penpal please remember that you mentioned that, I will for you if you forget, I'd love to make a video in years of how many things you've predicted

Kret

Don't forget a lot of things and words would not be in those 100 tales so soon as people come across something not mentioned well they need a word for it so they would probably make words baced on things in there culture that would dilute the language even more

Kret

Genetic problems would actually explain why the population of the village is so relatively small for the amount of time they have been around I definitely think some people have depetrifyed and joined every so often but even then birth defects would probably be common it would also explain why they no longer use last names at a certain point it becomes useless but also the phycological aspect I can see at some point them deciding to get rid of them to try and remove some of the ickynes of it

Chels

Say the 3 couples each had 13 kids (my great grandparents had 13 so that's my limit reference) they could've married one kid to each or started concubining, then had several more kids each. Yes, 2nd and 3 cousins probably eventually happened as it historically always has, but science proved that's not going to affect anything, other than! Nearsightedness! It's probably common from one of the bloodlines. 😯! So ya, I think it's very possible 6 people could've made a village, and they'd have had an easier time surviving because of knowledge left behind and also, no combative other tribes

Eureka

Love it

Vequoin

these 2 episodes are some of the best and most emotional in this series. i did not complete the series myself , just watched till season 2, so a lot to go

Keiran Muntfront

I feel like your really missing out on some fun gimmicks watgcing the sub instead of the dub, for example in the dub chrome has his catchphrase "this is bad" when sometging good happens, the characters make fun of him fod this its pretty funny it really adds to his character, also gen speaks in pig latin or like yoda

Mae Alexander

You're going to cry in the future! I have a love and hate relationship with your post episode talks. On one hand you're so close and on the other you're so far and it's gonna be FOREVER until you find out.
