“She must not have any family” in regards to Eri… I think her grandpa did genuinely care for her, he seemed like a decent guy for a Yakuza, but Overhaul put him in a coma, and Shigaraki took away Overhaul’s arms/quirk, so now she is kind of all alone. 😰 Heart breaking.

By the way it was Chrissy Costanza (former youtuber now singer) singing as Jiro.

Adams

isn't she the singer that sang "Legend never dies"?

Sa_ji

Yes

All I have to Say about Gentle Criminal and Labrava is that I have cried in 6 episodes through all the seasons of this show, one of those was a chapter with Gentle and Labrava 😆

I'm always shocked when I hear how expensive college is in the US. Like... $100K?? Is that for a top private university, or even for a public one? I'm in college right now, and I pay about €70 a month (around $80 USD), which comes out to roughly €2,100 (about $2,400 USD) for the entire three-year degree. I honestly wouldn't even be able to consider going to college if it cost that much.

Holy Arathi

I love Gentle Criminal! This is such a great pallet cleanser arc.

Vequoin

I agree with your take on the college system in the US. They force us to study a lot of useless stuff. Nearly half my credits were not related to my major

No spoilers. But I'm just saying, I watched ahead because I really enjoyed this show, and I can't wait for you guys to reach the next season. Things start to get REALLY wild. You'll lay in bed thinking about the possibilities, it'll be great. Also, why are you so... red at the start, Wes? It made me chuckle. What, did you go on a run before sitting down lol?

A lot of the big in-person public 4yr universities tend to be around 20-30k tuition per year even for applicants in the same state, so add on living expenses and whatnot and yeah youll easily be hitting 100k+ in debt if you couldnt pay off much going into it. Private/Ivy universities end up being 50-100k per year in total cost but the math is a bit harder there with how many student aid options those schools tend to provide, but it still can be absurdly expensive. So the more sensible option money wise here is to just do 2 years in a local community college for around 2-5k a year to complete the general courses and then transfer to a university for the last 2 years to do your major courses. Will cut the cost down a lot, but its still quite an undertaking especially if you end up getting a degree you dont even end up using afterwards

Regarding Gentle Criminal vs Stain: Remember that the hero society's entanglement with money is the natural evolution of the hero problem. In his various media, Spiderman famously is poor as dirt because *being a hero doesn't pay.* He has to leverage his fame as Spiderman through his non-hero alias to even make a decent living. The author here has not only addressed that hero problem through capitalistic measures but also progressed it to the point where it became both abused and corrupted. Being a hero is popular and financially lucrative, the only barrier to entry is having a good quirk and good training. It no longer has to be about the heroism. This is what Stain was fighting. For Gentle Criminal, he is quite literally taking the high road to Stain's ideals. Stain was 'ends justify the means': remove the faulty heroes until there are no bad ones left. Gentle Criminal is about being a "good" criminal: he is not willing to take the low road and sully his hands with shameful work to achieve his goal of (admittedly petty, and misdirected) heroism. For Gentle, the important part is that the ends do NOT justify the means. His acts of villainy, to him, have to be mostly harmless.

Ura Meshi

In the english dub they gave gentle a british accent which is pretty cool

Aleister Crowley

Yeah the closest clout hero we've seen was that snake lady that chose Momo for an internship because she was cute and all they did was modeling shoots and commercials.

Me too! Not gonna spoil anything but i'm really excited for them to reach like season 6 onwards. All seasons of MHA are really good but i can't wait for them to reach my favorite parts haha.

Wes And Steph

It’s a fairly accurate number, you can reduce it a lot by doing community college for 2 years or scholarships etc… but this is just for state schools not private or ivy. Sometimes housing can be included in that number too. But it’s kind of the expectation that you go to a school for 4 years and do the whole live on site in dorms thing.

The scene with All-Might and Deku where he discovers a new way to use One for All reminds me a lot of the training arc in HxH where Bisky shows Gon and Killua advanced applications of Nen.

Also just as a heads up La Brava isn’t a little girl she’s like 21-24 don’t remember the exact age

Cats 'N Pops

Best villain in the show coming up lol

Haven't started watching the reaction yet but I am so with steph on the rant at the beginning. So many people here in the UK go from college/sixth form to get a degree because they are told if they don't they will work in mcdonalds (which there is absolutely no shame in) and so we end up with lots of young people with degrees in things they are interested in but no work for them, and debt they will never repay. Also because of just how many people we have with degrees, companies put 'Degree required' on their job adverts without specifying the degree just as a class filter really. It's really demoralising for people who don't get degrees that so many opportunities filter them out and even for those with degrees that they can't find work in their ideal field. It's a shame because there are lots of certifications that are *much* cheaper like CIPD, ITIL, Comp TIA, PRINCE2, ACCA etc. which certify you for specific types of roles but you have to know that what you want to do when you take them, and most young people don't have the life experience to know what opportunities are even out there to make such specific decisions. I'm an ambassador for a charity focused on youth unemployment here so this subject hits close to home, we definitely need to rethink how we do education. University should be about expanding our collective knowledge and understanding when it comes to the sciences, arts, humanities etc. But when it comes to work readiness I think that better sits with certifications and licences. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Look, college curricula were like this before employers started setting degree based requirements. Why should academic programs be cut down into job mills because the industry wants them to be something they never were?

Steph saying Gentle wants money, right after seeing him leave a suitcase full of money, and him saying "money is not my goal", is crazy to me. please pay attention...
