A great reaction to one of my favorite series and a movie I think is really underated when people talk about this series. Also unrelated I guess but some talks that you both had during today make me think that you would both appreciate a show called CLANNAD especially from a parents point of view which I personally have never seen. But thats probably ways off

mimiyowa

Clannad is good but the first season can be a bit sleeper, esp. the first half, second half is good. This is probably due to the VN source material I imagine ? trying to collapse multiple routes and a lot of meandering.. gets pretty good though

Airferi23

You make a good point but I never viewed it like that. But thats maybe also because I have played the VN and others as well like Steins gate for example so slower build up is more normal for me. I still think they would at least appreciate the arcs being told in the first half because I personally think they are really good. Some more than others but still.

Akurogi Musai

Even if you didn't know the name, you would still recognize the trope. A tsundere is a character who is initially cold or hard to deal with (tsun tsun), but gradually becomes sweet and lovey-dovey (dere dere). Mai is a complete tsundere

The Anime Dude

Love this movie, we finally get an arc about the Main Character - where after spending 2 pivotal years of his life building his identity around being a provider and parental figure for Kaede, he’s kind of lost his sense of purpose & feels like he’s no longer needed. Every arc of Rascal feels like it deals with different aspects of growing up - and the wacky sci-fi elements are just a means to an end in terms of representing that. With everything he’s been through, he’s always worried about others & never really focuses on his own issues or desires. This arc finally gives him that chance to reflect internally & face the uncomfortable parts of his reality that he’s kind of pushed out of mind during the last couple years.

"I hope we get to help Kaede" *next arc is Kaede's* "I hope we get answers about Shoko" *next arc is Dreaming Girl* "I hope we get Sakuta character development" *next arc is Knapsack Kid* Y'all might have a gift. Please hope for more episodes of Sakuta and Mai going on dates XD

Kevin Wang

This was my favorite film and arc for this series. I dont know why, family stuff always gets me. this is like the 4th time ive watched this film, and i still find myself tearing up.

Hey, different strokes for different folks ! I'm glad you liked it ^^ I struggle with playing most VNs, I tried Steins;Gate and Anonymous:Code. But looking back I don't think I mind the slower build up, it is more so my adhd getting in the way. I love the persona games for example and those games have at least 2 hours of prologue lol

Tim Tim

INeedSleep, Counterargument, they watched Steins Gate and Hunter x Hunter that can be boring in the start, and liked both of these series. So I think it wouldn't be a problem for Wes and Steph

mimiyowa

Tim Tim, Counter-Counterargument.. I never said that it would be a problem for them. I'm just talking about my experience with these shows (:

Sakuta Kaeda and Mom (and me) crying all together at the end 😭

Mai is not a Tsundere. While she may initially display some of the behaviors, she's also very clear in her feelings for Sakuta from almost the start. I'd also say she tended to display more of a kuudere demeanor at the beginning, but that's likely due to her experience as a celebrity. She's quite affectionate to those she cares about, and displays it pretty quickly with characters like Kaede. She's also unforgiving to those in the entertainment industry when they stress over work (applying her own high standards on to others), you can see this in her treatment of Nodoka (while also obviously caring about her when not industry related issues.)

Some people's affect completely shut down when they start panicking; I'm that way. The more anxiety or stress I feel, the more I struggle to express anything. Often when I've had panic attacks people don't notice because my expression doesn't show anything.
