Kret

He just used the last of the gunpowder on the bluff

Keiran Muntfront

You still think they are teenager? Tsukasa just wanted the young and oure hearted these guys could be in their twenties

TheSlothSmile

I don't think they all are teenagers, Tsukasa said young and pure so young could mean 20-30 too probably considers midlife as the barrier or something, but guys in their 20s or 30s should be fine too hahaha maybe just very old people who are not strong, They no longer have gunpowder that's why cause they don't have access to the materials anymore since its like halfway towards Tsukasa or they need the miracle water too maybe I don't remember. As far as I understand tsukasas mentality he's pretty much like Purist and Strength being the only form of power that matters, and hats Science Because it enables the weak to contend, Mostly its a hate for the old ways of the world where in japanese colture too older meant more trustworthy and in higher position of power since he has a bad impression of that one guy beating him up just for collecting shells he has a complex from that that he never got any opposition towards but couldn't express.

this is one of the times i get a little annoyed at another depiction of "oh, look, katana, so cool!" if senku would really be so knowledgable he would have been crafting short swords or longswords or even jsut real spears and shields... katanas are made for cutting, as explained in the anime, but they are very bad at parrying, because of the "flexibility" they are very prone to bending and also because of the cutting motion one has to use to effectivly use it, you have to train with them pretty hard now a longsword is just a metal stick that has been sharpened... it is better at almost everything a katana can do it also has its downsides, but when fighting stone seapons, a longsword would be king stabbing with the longsword or parrying wont bend the longsword as much as the katana you can use brute force if you are not skilled enough and would still win against stone weapons... if we think about how long it takes to craft a simple version of a longsword or katana, the longsword takes the win... also shields... in history, it was always an arms race of lethality versus protection... having a good metal shield would just break any stone weapon that would collide with the shield now armor would be to much of a stretch... having enough ore and having enough time for a good armor for just one person would take way to much time well, not that it was not cool seeing them jump out with the katanas, but that annoys me ever so much xD

I think you're taking Tsukasa a bit too literally with regards to his criteria of reviving the young. In episode 2 when he was revealing his ideals to Senku, Tsukasa stated: "Senku, do you intend to bring back everyone, including the grown ups whose hearts are tainted?" "We'll revive only the pure-hearted youth and live in a natural world owned by no one." Now "grown ups" and "youth" are pretty broad terms. But I think the key point in describing the "grown ups" is the notion of being tainted. Basically, he's differentiating between an older generation that was generally of a perceived "ruling class" and those that were just starting out in life which could easily include those in their 20s. Whether one is going to college, just finished college, or was unable to get into college, I would argue that's still the starting line in life and the overall struggle to get by at that age range is real (unless they're from a wealthy family). So yeah, I don't think many of Tsukasa's goons are teenagers but are of the generation of just starting out in life without much to their name in the old world. Also, it's very conceivable that Tsukasa would choose "youth" who were more inclined to combat in order to hunt and survive in the stone world. So disillusioned 20s who couldn't get into college that perhaps got involved with rougher crowds or even street gangs would be perfect for Tsukasa's ideals and his need for an army. And it really wouldn't matter if they agreed with Tsukasa or not. They would likely just obey out of self-preservation since Tsukasa is such a physical monster with a fearsome reputation in the old world. And to be clear, Tsukasa is not so much anti-science. It's specifically about how science will eventually lead to modern weapons and in the hands of the "tainted grown ups of the old world" will lead to the same ruling class of the old world. And to Steph's question about making more guns, Senku stated in this episode that was the last of the gun powder he had. So the question remains, what's stopping him from making more? Don't you think he would make more if he had the resources to do so? Regarding the question about Senku reviving more people, remember a key component of the revival fluid is nitric acid or bat guano. And who controls the nitric acid cave? Tsukasa. Which is why he's able to revive so many. So Senku would need to discover another stable source of nitric acid in order to make more revival fluid. The reason why summers in Japan are brutal in many parts of the country is because of how stupidly humid it gets. It just becomes unbearably suffocating lol

You guys are asking some great questions at the end, can’t wait for you to see more!

Eureka

I wouldn’t say only people below 18 i think for tsukasa anyone below age of 30 is good

Gelondil

Tsukasa is sufficiently against science to the point that he attempt to MURDER Senku to make sure the science stays buried. That's more than enough to qualify him for the label of "anti-science".

I didn't have much to say this time, but as far as weather things go: For the winter prep conversation, the light novel Ascendance of a Bookworm goes into a kinda fantasy take on a low-tech winter prep. It does a lot more than that obviously (I really like that series), but like you said, it shows how low-income families in a semi-medieval setting spend a LONG time just getting ready for winter, and then end up being snowed in making handicrafts to sell when the snow goes away. Very interesting how modern society has basically completely negated that problem. For summer, Stein's Gate was set in summer in Japan, and poor Daru was dying in half the show lol

It's worth considering that the very issue that bothers you is something Senku weaponized here. Senku's enemies are modern folks who've been raised on Katana Culture and overvalue the strength of a katana. That's why the meatheads folded instantly. Is a longsword and shield better at killing people than a katana? Sure. But Senku isn't out to maximize lethality. His weapons are deterrents. As to the mechanics of making longswords vs katanas, Kaseki's existence neutralizes the time commitment concern you have. It's pretty well established that he's an uberdwarf and can make katanas as easily as longswords. Given this math, which is better? 4 longswords? 2 longswords and 2 shields? Or 6 katanas plus Shock and Awe? If you want to win the fight without killing everybody, katanas plus shock and awe is the clear winner.... If you want to kill people, the answer is crossbows...

There's an anime called Tatami Time Machine Blues based on a film called Summer Time Machine Blues where a club accidentally breaks their AC remote during the summer so they use a time machine to try and go back like one day and end up have a whole adventure creating, experiencing, and fixing a number of paradoxes, just so they can steal the remote from their past selves and use it themselves. ...So the heat must be pretty bad I guess 😂

If Senku agreed to only revive the youth then I think Tsukasa would have been fine with say all of the things that Senku has developed up to this point in the story. Well, maybe not the gunpowder since that would directly threaten Tsukasa's dominance lol But I don't disagree about the label of anti-science on Tsukasa given his action. I just think his overall philosophy on it is more nuanced.

So one of the things they mentioned early in the show was that Senku lost access to the bat cave for the revival fluid. The bat guano provides KNO3 aka Potassium Nitrate aka Saltpeter. This is also why Senku was frustrated to use the last of his black powder on his bluff as Saltpeter is a core ingredient to black powder.

@Gelondi No you still don't get it. He wasn't against science he was against Senku reviving everyone, that's why he killed him!
