*Note on Arcane: Our lovely friends told us the story years ago when it first came out and they were excited about it and Stephanie's already watched part of it (we didn't think there was a chance we would watch/react to it at the time) so we don't think we would be able to do a good reaction since we've both been spoiled.

Some bangers in here that I personally enjoy, but I don’t know if you guys would enjoy the same ones I would. That’s the tricky part of these polls, balancing my own want to rewatch vs what I want you guys to watch for the first time. Edit: Prime example, with Slime leading the polls. It is a power fantasy isekai meant to be watched alone by a dude in his teens/early twenties. What quality of reaction are we expecting a couple of 30 year olds with multiple children to have towards it lol? Whereas classic, story driven shows with room for discussion about theories/real life interjections are at the bottom like Monster and Orb

Always does make me sad to see shows like Slime (which I don’t hate but after reading novels & trying to watch a few times, or AKA I’ve given it so many chances - I’ve just never fallen in love with it the way so many people seem to have) lead the polls while knowing the odds of shows like Monster/Orb winning seem slim to none. 😭 It is what it is though, I’m here to enjoy the reactions regardless.

Feel you but that's how it is most of the time. :) Slime was already a top contender in the last poll, so it's likely to get a lot of votes again. I thought it was kinda cool early on but I lost interest after a while. I could say the same thing about a few other shows on the list as well, to be fair.

SAO is honestly one of the most overhated anime out there. At its release it was certainly overrated and overhyped, but then the script flipped and now it receives way more criticism and contempt than is really reasonable or justified. It's honestly a really good show. There are undoubtedly some uncomfortable and questionable scenes, and the melodrama can be a bit thick at times, but there are also a lot of great moments in it, and the writing is better than people are willing to admit and gets better throughout the series. It continues to baffle me when I meet people that say only season 1 was good (which I assume to specifically mean the first half), because every season after the first actually adds a lot more purpose, meaning, and interesting depth to the show than the first season had. The first season is barely more than a mundane and common wish-fulfillment Isekai, by the time Alicization comes up the story has managed to be about something more and even manages to somewhat retroactively justify some of the plot-armor ass-pulls from season 1.

I'm a Bleach girl, will always be a Bleach girl. It is a lot of episodes though ( not as many as One Piece) so i understand it being a very big commitment. That being said, the only other one I'd vote for would be Monster. Even just reading the title bring chills down my spine. This is the only anime I was terrified of and felt sorry for at the same time, and stayed with me for a while. Monster, like Death Note, is a masterpiece of its own. Nothing like Death Note, but in the importance within anime, I'd say they are the same.

I assume thats helped by newer fans who got into it due to Alicization arc? Rather than the olds among us who lived through its memed to death release of the first few seasons 14 years ago now. Probably makes it easier to power through the rough parts of s1 when you have people saying the usual "dont worry about the cringe it gets good I promise" (dont actually know if it does, I just know s3 arc has been hyped by novel readers since s2 aired)

I don't think it's good to add another long series when they are already reacting to two. I want to them to watch shows that they would enjoy and I hear there discussions. A poll is mainly a popularity contest, idk how after dozens of polls people are still surprised or still ask the same question of "how such and such is wining when this show is better?" or variation to this question. However I disagree with the assumption of 30 year olds won't give quality reactions to it because it they are not the target demographic Slime, especially with the fact that Steph has said multiple times about her enjoyment of reading YA novels and books even though she's not the target demographic. And even if they don't enjoy Slime, it is like you said they are grown adults, they can just drop the show after giving it a fair shot

And sometimes shows that are not that great (imo) but still won the poll at least have enough shock value or gimmicks to make reactions easy and entertaining, which can be a easy win for W&S for getting views on Youtube. So I get those. But Slime, for example, is even lacking in that department. To be perfectly clear, I don't hate Slime. And I know W&S will find a way to enjoy it and show us great reactions and commentaries. But that's just because they are good, not that the show is a particularly good reaction material.

Guys I Say this in a respectful way, but You Will NEED to choose an anime of your own at some point, You are Missing out on some Huge gems and the ones in your pool are looking like the Crunchyroll awards(high popularity/not so much Quality) I'm not saying these shows are Bad, there are actually a few which are amazing but I insist, You are Missing out on some gems, also there are Shows which are popular to watch on your own but are SUPER BORING for reactores like The Slime. Made in Abyss is getting closer to getting chosen each time, nice. Monster & Monogatari series are great for analysis. The latter does have fanservice. I know there's a lot of long shows but Bleach is the shortest of the big three without filler, and the final season is about to air any week now. Can benefit of the trending momentum. Summertime Rendering seems to be a nice thriller. 100 Girlfriends for something goofy/silly. I wouldn't mind AssClass either.

Idk if You would be ok with this but I have an excellent Idea for your next pool guys(since It might be too late for this one) I suggest for your next pool You look up lets Say...the first 50 shows on Myanimelist(website for anime rankings), and from there You take out the ones You already watched, the ones which are extra seasons, the ones You absolutely don't want to see(sensible content or erotic content). And then You can choose lets Say... 10 shows from the remaining ones, the ones You like the most for the poster/visuales or You could Even read the synopsis and choose. You can make the pool here on Patreon with those 10 shows and that way You Will also take into account people's opinion :)

I'm interested to see Wes & Steph discussions for Slime, especially on the dialogue heavy eps, since I think they do a great job bouncing ideas off each other for possible character motivations, plot lines, and some great predictions. With how the scope of the show progresses, I think I may enjoy the discussions just as much as the reactions if they end up liking the show, maybe more! My first vote was Clannad though ngl lmao. I loved the series so much and it was the first anime I watched outside of the classic Shounens so it holds a special place in my heart!

The announcement trailers for the new Neon Genesis Evangelion series are getting about 2-4 millions views each on YouTube. This is just the announcement and an official trailer is probably a long time away. Don't know if the new series is some kind of sequel or a remake, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get into that franchaise.

Not gonna lie - SAO being on here & doing so well is the one that surprised me the most, feels like it kind of came in out of nowhere, but since I haven’t really read/watched it in a long while, wouldn’t hate revisiting it with em. (Not gonna vote for it though) Imagine how good Clannad, Orb, or Monster reactions would be though. 😭 They’re parents (Clannad), pretty philosophical / knowledgeable (orb), and Wes is very savvy when it comes to psychology. (Monster) Also, may be a bit hypocritical since I voted JoJo’s (I love JoJo’s & it makes for great reaction content), but with One Piece, Dr. Stone, & MHA on the roster already - I tried to avoid voting for too many of the longer running 100+ episodes / multiple season shows.

Its "nation building" is the same as Rimuru itself, no depth, just fantasy. Every other nation immediately becomes friends to the point their leaders become subservient (with a lot of empty words to seem political), or they are portrayed as really dumb for going against MC and then get oneshot by MC or all his mates. You are right though, shows can be fun without depth, but its comedy isn't exactly its strong suit either.

You have every right to feel that way. Personally doesn’t bother me because the anime tries to alleviate the side effects of the panel structure of jojo. The overnarration happens because of the one segment MEGA paragraphs that he has a habit of writing so in an animated format certain liberties need to be taken. I don’t think slime is bad I like its story I’m a sucker for civilization building stories . I think the anime is not good and as the nation building gets heavier the worse it’s going to get because of what I presume, are production troubles and an inability to have good direction for the dialogue heavy beats.

Slime is not "anime slop", it's "power fantasy isekai". I don't think it's a good fit because as you said there is nothing much to discuss. They might enjoy it ? I'm not really sure. It's just not interesting at all. That's my hot take. Teenagers/teenage-brained people are the majority though and that's why we're seeing more recommendations of this nature with every poll. I personally always wanted to recommend "made in abyss" (Steph would love the background art and music and the exploration/curiosity has always been something they enjoyed) but it's cursed to always come in third place every single poll lol.

I love Monogatari, I love Mushoku Tensei, (I don't really care for 100 girlfriends), but compared to that MiA is really tame. I would never recommend Monogatari, would struggle to recomment MT, but I'd always recommend MiA. I don't get the complaints, solid show. I think they would like it.

Not to yuck anyone's yum but if I ever watch Slime it'd be at 2-3x speed on my 5th monitor. Monogatari is for the true anime viewers. The people that grew up in the 2010 anime era and experienced degeneracy enough to not be bothered by it. I legit never paid attention to "the problematic" aspects of Monogatari and I think it's peak. That's not the case for everyone. Once you get to Nisemonogatari you need to be in peak condition high tolerance or to have ascended to like, not be uncomfortable with those aspects. If you enjoy Bunny Girl Senpai and have never watched Monogatari don't read this: Bunny girl tries so hard to be Monogatari and copies it without the substance. The direction is also really boring for a dialogue heavy show compared to Shaft. For me I could never watch it.

Addressing cons: People have said that due to the nature of it showing kids in tragic situations it would be too much for them. I disagree and can point to a range of examples in other shows that they've watched that showed similar tragic situations relating to kids and they still very much enjoyed each of those shows for their emotional impact and storytelling. It would be very much the same for Made in Abyss and if it isn't you can call me out on it.

the issue isn't different tastes. it's that people vote without thinking about the reactor(s). In a perfect world, you would recommend hype shows to hype reactors. shows with depth to analytical reactors. shows with themes of family and child raising to reactors that have kids. etc etc. cause that's what actually makes a good reaction. unlike when you mix and match stuff that doesnt fit, it's straight up a waste. its important to express this without actually being rude about it.

Analytical reactors should watch shows with depth. there's always room to try new things and mix and match, but it hurts to see ppl voting slop not recognizing that their recommendation wastes their skillset. Slime Iseikai being this high is surely surprising. But I thought Wes already watched Slime before? I remember him bringing it up somewhere in one of the reactions. That being said, I think W&S should just react to Bocchi the Rock regardless. I mean, cmon, it's a show with a massive impact on anime culture and it's only 12 episodes long. In the future, I think it makes more sense for W&S to prioritize shorter, one-and-done series, so we can have a more diverse selection of content. Putting thoughts to words is always tough but I'll give it a go: • The battles are both spontaneous and tactical, evolving fast as tables turn, making for great moment to moment reactions while the strategizing in between offers room for discussion • The character dynamics are great and I'd disagree with Runhua Tang's comment and say that parts 2 and 3 already have some of the best inter-character arcs • The author is very creative when it comes to changes in environment and scenarios while still keeping things believable, making it a lot of fun to try and predict what might happen next even outside the battles • Over-arching mystery is another big aspect of many parts, from the world building to the identities of antagonists, which opens the door for the exact type of speculation that W&S love to do • The part structure keeps the series fresh in the long run, preventing burnout that might come from other long series reactions • There's also a lot shocking moments, which some might consider a negative, but I consider them an aspect of the complete package personally But sure, you could call it all 'spectacle', if you wanted to be incredibly reductive I suppose

pls don’t compare slime to mha 😭😭 mha is miles ahead of that aura farming slop MHA is amazing at building and exploring in detail a huge cast of very distinct characters in a very organic way (without overwhelming you). The world building also goes incredibly in-depth. The autor finds super creative ways to apply all the cool quirks. Slime just throws shit at the op main character, that miraculously can fart out a nuke. The side characters are all so flat and only cool to look at and the world is copy pasted from every other isekai out there.

Alot of people complaining about Slime winning and i get it, most reaction creators dropped the show. But i see Wes and Steph actually enjoying even the dialogue heavy episodes of slime, the world building and theorizing alot of stuff. As much as I like to critique slime & give it crap… (I’ve given LNs & Anime multiple chances & am just not as in love with it as so many people are) I do like it overall & think it’s above average for what it is. It’s admittedly tough to adapt a series like that, & I think they did it well. Adapting it is kind of a pick your poison between cutting important context / info to speed things along (which I don’t think would be ideal but a lot of shows do that & then regret it later), or having entire stretches of episodes that contain all the important dialogue / politics. (I actually don’t mind this, and am glad slime anime does it, but it is where a lot of people do start complaining.) Basically, most of the fan base gives it crap for being TOO Faithful, which I actually appreciate.

It's biggest issue as an adaptation is, just like Mushoku Tensei, Slime has quite a few downtime slice of life books, but they are dedicated to the nation and worldbuilding aspects of the series, rather than interpersonal relationships, which can lead to long stretches of "meetings" in the anime.

I like Reincarnated as a Slime, especially the current season that's airing right now, but I just don't really want to watch Wes and Steph's reaction to it. I'd much rather watch their reaction to Monster. JoJo's is in my top 3 anime of all time, but again, I'm not really interested in watching Wes and Steph react to it. (74+60) *Jojo is a bit more of an old school anime with the older seasons revolving in a villain of the week type of encounters, but its later seasons gear up with amazing writing, powers, pop culture references and some very bizarre adventures and fights ;p *Slime is a new age anime that starts out with our main character being resurrected from our world to a new fantasy world which slowly and steadily introduces its vast array of characters, world building, and an empire built from the ground up. I'm a fan of both animes, but I would prefer to see W&S react to Slime as they would have a blast theorizing where Rimuru's story will go. Not to mention I can see Steph loving Rimuru and wanting a slime plush xD (+shorter run time) Regardless though! Both are great shows, its a shame we might only get one X-x

The people who pretend to know what others like are always projecting. I agree that they aren't your typical shounen/hype watchers and are amazing reactors to some of the "deeper" shows you mentioned, like Vinland Saga, AoT and Apothecary Diaries. But if you just look at some of the shows they picked themselves, without any polls involved, you can clearly see that they like all kinds of shows. Just to name a few: JJK, Demon Slayer, Kaguya-Sama, Spy x Family, KonoSuba, Kaiju No. 8, Solo Leveling, One Piece. Those are all your typical shounen/s-o-l/comedy shows that some people always try to argue aren't good enough for them or aren't what they truly like. And yes, obviously you don't like everything on the same level. Maybe they didn't like KonoSuba as much as some of the other shows but they still liked it; otherwise they wouldn't have watched three seasons, a movie and a spin-off on their own. They like a lot of stuff. Variety is king.

a lot of good ones in here, some reviews without spoilers and my thoughts. eminence in shadow is somewhat of a one punch man type parody of his genre, but with a more serious atmosphere, it's one of my favorite animes, really funny but also really good. i see that jojo is winning but i don't reccomend it because it's really long, something like 190 episodes which is very long, with that time you could watch 4-7 other anime in this list. lord of the mysteries is also amazing, i say it especially because i read the novel which is considered the best (or top 3) webnovels, the anime rushed a bit the first season so many find it pretty confusing, but the world building and the mystery is really one of the best there are, they have already announced 8 season and multiple films to show how much the studio believes in the project (we are still in season 1, season 2 will be either end of 2026 or start 2027 and it will have 30+ episode to not make the mistakes they made in season 1 with the pacing). lotm is a story that gives you a lot to theorize about because of its world building and how the story is set. orb is a little gem, amazing story, very original too, it's a pretty short story and season one adapted it from start to finish, so it's an anime you can just watch knowing there wont be any future season or anything else. reincarnated as a slime is good, but it received a lot of criticism later on because there is a lot of character sitting at a table talking for episodes, season 1 is really good, but after there are a lot of boring meetings, which is why a lot of people dropped it, i heard it got better recently but i haven't watched the recent stuff (it's now at season 4). blue lock is great in season 1, season 2 somehow became a meme for how bad the animation was, people said it looked like a powerpoint lol. sword art online is just bad, please dont, idk who is even voting for that. BTW my suggestions and what i think you'd like are orb, lord of the mysteries and maybe eminence in shadow, 100 girlfriends for the comedy if you want to see something light. it would also be funny to see your reactions of saga of tanya the evil lol.

I do not see Monogatari winning in this community. The shows that are winning do not require attention to detail and are not that dialog heavy. I normally downvote vampire series because they are not Monogatari. I dont know how much Steph would like it, but Wes would like to figure stuff out. I do not see them watching the uncensored blu-ray version, yet I would be fine with that as a lot of those are cringe virgin scenes. I see Bunny Girl as the opposite of Monogatari. Bunny Girl is more about the psychology of the person affected and correcting it, then things go back to normal. Yet, with Monogatari its something happens to someone then the person has to deal with the outcome, so physical before psychological. I do like your comment as I would have never considered the two to be so alike on my own.

Gavern is absolutely right another thing that doesn’t help is that the directing when it comes to, those moments is not good plainly speaking. There were some episodes where it was literally just staring at still frames. Animation is a visual medium, and while you don’t need to jingle metaphorical keys to keep the audience clued in they literally made no attempt to do any interesting compositing or dynamic shots the characters barely emote it’s just not good. Animation should have an easier time than the live action medium to make stuff like that interesting not harder.

Interesting but not so fun poll fact: Fruits Basket is one of the longest running entries into the polls, being in polls 1 through 6, but it almost never does well. It's highly recommended, but almost always gets only about 100-120 votes, even if the amount of votes per poll changes from ~1500 to ~5600. Because of this, it did well on the first few polls (even beat out ReZero), but suffered on later polls.

I’ve noticed that the problem using method to select shows is that it becomes a popularity contest. That means it’s good for the views and growing the channel, but it pays no regard to quality. Put a vote between orb and one piece and one piece is always going to win. Does popularity make a show better? No. Having popular shows winning is fine but there also needs to be quality control, perhaps in the form of Wes and Steph choosing a show from the poll every once in a while based on their descriptions. The only way for some of the less popular shows to win is if someone pays a lot of money to spam votes or the occasional atoms aligning themselves which cause masterpieces like made in abyss or monster to often be in a perpetual limbo, while stuff like slime gets chosen and occupy several months. It’s not to say Wes and Steph won’t enjoy slime or sao, but it’s not on the same caliber writing-wise as its competitors. This is like getting a scientist to start a reaction channel and vote for them to watch dragon ball instead of dr stone. Also, there needs to be some paying-attention to the length of shows. At this rate, the slots will all be taken up by very long animes. There needs to be separate slots for short and longer animes.

I've defined the lengths as under 40 episodes for Short (So basically up to 3 cours), 40-100 for Medium, 101-200 for Long and over 200 for Ultra Long, along with a + at the end for series close to the next upper cutoff point. Episodes that will have aired by the end of the current season are already factored in, but no further. This actually happened on Poll 3! It definitely makes a clear winner and loser grouping: Vinland Saga had 19% of the votes, clearly in first place, while Yona of the Dawn had...less than 1%.

Looks like I can safely pause my subscription for a few months. Of the 25 options, Tensura/Slime was the only one I actually wanted to watch. As it is, Fate and Mushoku Tensei are the only series y'all are reaction to that I'm interested in, so I'll probably wait and binge them in a couple months.

Thanks for this poll history. It's really interesting to me. Slime has the most entries already, has in SUM the most votes. Yet keeps getting denied. That somehow feels like some people are voting simply out of spite against Slime every time. I know that's merely an assumption.. but then again: It's the internet. i wouldn't be surprised if *some* people *would* do that.

Although a few people may be doing that, it's likely not making as much of a difference as you may think. The polls are ultimately a popularity contest, so it makes sense that the most popular shows (or most relevant) would be voted in. Also, don't forget that slime has the most votes BECAUSE it's been in the most polls. If you look at the average votes for shows they haven't watched yet, both Jojo and Eminence in Shadow have it beat and have been in the polls at least 4 times each. Highest total votes does not necessarily mean most requested, even if slime IS up there.

You don't have to assume they won't watch slime at all this time around. The poll only guarantees ONE winner, but they usually watch at least #2 as well, sometimes the #3 winner too.

It's also not my favorite anime on the list, but I've had my fill of reactions for those anime already, or I don't feel like they make for good reactions. The anime I really wanted to see them react to didn't make it to the poll, like Astra Lost in Space

It's all about the numbers, and their channel is growing despite these two watching shows that are intended for teens and people in their early 20s. Orb would be a good one except that generally speaking, shows that require critical thinking are never popular in either anime or western media which is a waste to Wes and Steph's intelligence.

I agree plus because they are busy parents (not a bad thing) it slows their ability to get these longer shows done faster. I wish longer shows and shorter shows could be on different polls to allow newer shows to shine while older shows get the love as well.

Totally agree. Some beautifully written and mature options on this list but they're repeatedly overlooked (e.g., Monster and Orb). Unfortunately, the fairest thing is to follow the poll but disappointing that animes with certain themes and styles are repeatedly put aside by voters.

Yeah I think W&S can use the polls as general suggestions but then it might be better for them to have a quick skim through what each show is about to decide which ones they actually want to watch. That might be time-consuming for them though, so oh well. We'll get our fav shows someday

This comment section is really making me think that everytime a vote happens people assume they know best about what wes & steph would like to watch, they've enjoyed plenty of introspective shows, shounen and power fantasy type things, no clue why people keep trying discount any of these as being a lesser option that they wouldn't like when they've liked shows in all 3 categories

I had a fun time binging the first two seasons on a lazy weekend, but keeping up with the recent stuff on a weekly basis has just felt like a chore, and I’m really getting tired of seeing all the same tropes repeated over and over again. I don’t think it makes for a good show to watch on a dedicated scheduled, and I don’t think I could sit through an entire rewatch of it.

Since y'all are already doing three long series (MHA, Dr. Stone, and One Piece), maybe Jojo and Slime could be put in reserve since they're also long (especially Jojo), and have the new anime just be a shorter one like Bocchi or Gachiakuta, so there'll consistently be new content

Unlike some other commenters, I’m actually glad a classic like JoJo won. I never got into it when it first aired, so I probably wouldn't have picked it up on my own. I honestly don't get the complaints saying shows are a 'bad fit' for W&S. They love deep worldbuilding (like in Mushoku Tensei) and beautiful visual styles/atmospheres (like Frieren or Witch Hat Atelier)-which is exactly what those top-voted shows excel at! This poll perfectly represents the natural watch order for people who have seen recent hits but missed some foundational classics. I'd much rather see them invest in a long, proven masterpiece than a 12-episode seasonal show where we just end up waiting years for a continuation. The votes accurately reflect what's both popular and genuinely good.
