Hey guys! Before you get deep into Season 5, please consider watching the episodes in the original Manga order instead of the anime release order. The animation studio totally rearranged the timeline just to line up with a theatrical movie release, putting way more focus on certain characters right away while completely butchering the manga's pacing and narrative buildup. Because they swapped the story arcs around, the tension of the whole season gets thrown off. You end up watching things out of chronological order, which completely ruins the suspense and makes the second half of the season feel incredibly rushed. To experience the story exactly how the creator intended, just watch Episodes 1 through 12, then skip ahead to Episodes 20 through 24. After that, go back and watch Episodes 13 through 19, and finally finish with Episode 25. Trust the fandom on this one, this watch order completely saves the season!

Wait you guys thought Labrava was a kid? ☠️ I know she is small but, Mineta is too, and will be forever.

Marko Genter

When Deku said that Gentle was the harder to fight than anyone until now he didnt mean in that he was strong, he meant that he didnt wanna fight him since he could tell he wasnt that bad of a guy but he had to do it.

Ura Meshi

Not sure if it's worth it.

Michael Johnson

When Deku said he has been his toughest fight, I understood it as his most emotionally difficult. All his previous fights were against menaces against society which had to be stopped. Gentle wasn't someone like that. Also a small detail. Gentle gave himself eyeshadow to match La Brava's dark circles around her eyes.

Definitely is, there is a reason why its the worst rated saison on MAL. Its a small price to pay for the saison to be a little better than the trash it is. Bad animation, elongated arc, bad adaptation of THE BEST ARC IN THE MANGA. MVA

I never thought of it before, but isn’t la brava and toga kinda similar? Toga has obsession with blood and she’s violent but that’s all that makes them different.. And btw, la brava and gentle are romantic partners. Lol

ellie

La Brava is an adult, she's just short! (I'm not sure if it's canon if she has like some sort of dwarfism or if it's just mha logic and she's small idk haha but she is an adult!) Her and Gentle are romantic partners, one of my fave couples in the show :)!

Tsatsa

Well when you look at la brava’s face only, the structure is similar to kids in mha, yet she has boobs and everything so it’s understandable to be confused about her age lol. They also wondered if she was the same age as deku so

Tony

Going by the wiki, La Brava is 21, and Gentle is 32

Ura Meshi

And because Deku realized that he could've turned out like Gentle. But unlike Gentle, Deku had people who supported him on the hero path (namely All Might), whereas Gentle dropped out from the hero course and nobody supported him.

RCG

With Season 4 ending next week, you could watch the second movie afterward, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. Some people suggest watching it after the first half of Season 5 instead, so I guess both are valid options. AFAIK, it's the most popular of the MHA movies. Like the first one that you already watched, it's not really necessary for the main plot but if you enjoyed the last one, it's definitely worth a watch.

The Anime Dude

See other comments saying the age of Gentle - & I had never realized he was only 32 apparently… if y’all are older than him, how does that feel? 😭 I’m almost there, but I feel like he looked older at 18 than I do now.

starrk

I dont think it's worth it. I watched it as it is and it's still fine for me. The fans that were hating were just being super nitpicky.

Aleister Crowley

I think they got confused with the time line since her backstory showed her in middle school and technically when she tracked down Gentle I think she was 15, then at this school festival arc she's 21. But she is physically small like Mineta. Gentle was 26 when he started villain-ing and met her and now he's 32.

starrk

Watching their performance always brings tears to me eyes! Everyone did great. Eri's smile is everything. Jiro's backstory is tearjerking too. MHA does a great job making you invest in everyone and that's hard given that they have a large cast of characters.

Temojikato

La Brava and Gentle are like 10 years apart btw, both adults

Philsi

This is news to me. I don't think it's a problem for anyone who hasn't read the manga.

Philsi

The violin piece playing in the back while Gentle hands himself in reminds me a lot of Pouf's Theme from HxH.

In the first episode we see pretty much the entire class laugh at Deku for being the only quirkless person. While the intro says 20 percent of the population is quirkless that includes old people. The newer generation would have way way less quirkless people so being quirkless would kinda automatically ostracize you. For La Brava with her quirk, if she's not loving someone, she may as well be quirkless so that probably affected her mentally a lot and made her think she had to always be in love.

Solar Wind

Yes, quirks do affect people's personalities and vice-versa in the MHA world. La Brava does love the people she chooses to very deeply ( and likely NEEDS someone, before she had a new someone like Gentle, she was thinking of taking her life, so you can guess... ), same way Bakugo's quirk reflects his combustive personality or how Todoroki can be surprisingly hotheaded and intense despite his usual icy placid self, these are readily apparent cases. But in my opinion, the way characteristics interact with the environment to result in something new can be pretty intriguing, sometimes it's almost fun to try and connect how the quirk and the person fit in the non-obvious cases. For instance, Toga's quirk being ingesting blood to become someone gave her a manic love in who she is invested in on par with La Brava's, because she literally wants to "merge" with the person she loves and become one with them.

Shiggy

It's fine the way it is, it flows nicely into season 6.

Wurzeldieb

that's insane, they look lke 10 and 50

many of the comments already mentioned why Deku said Gentle was his hardest fight. but just to add, what he said in Japanese was "tsurakatta" (辛かった). it's more akin to an emotional kind of hard/difficult. perhaps because as Deku also mentioned, they were the same so he probably empathizes with Gentle and that's what made it hard for him.

Alvaro Vesga

I've always thought My hero Academia author must have studied psychology or pedagogy because throughout his work he emphasizes the importance of raising and nurturing children and adolescents, and how that affects their lives. You'll see this in the villains and also heroes, and the author makes it really interesting taking into account their quirks

spede

Being incredibly short and having grey hair and mustache will do that to you

Mia

gosh i couldn't stop thetears when they played Gentle and La Brava's backstory. Even though they didn't win (and i can't lie, i was rooting for them a little), I'm glad there is still an implication of hope for them in the future :')

Mike Q

Gentle Criminal was a sad villain, and hyper realistic in that world. He failed his provisional license several times which meant he couldn't really pursue his dream. Deku could've easily turn out like him. If he hadn't met All Might, stayed quirkless, and remained obsessed with heroes, I can definitely see him meddling in hero business and by mistake cause issues for the heroes, and eventually he would become disillusioned with hero society.

M. Alexander duenas

Yes I was. I remember when was reading this arc in the manga and many people seem to dislike this arc specially the main antagonist on top of that unfortunate at that time the author was sick. I'm glad you like this arc in general 😁

Emilianex2111

Catching up on your reactions on MHA, and even tho this is an old upload I gotta say, Gentle is my favorite character in the series and this is still my favorite fight as well, and I just wanna say how glad I was of the good grasp you guys got on their characters and mini arc, most people miss the point in them so I'm very glad your reaction was such a good experience

shoto todoroki

Eri smile scene is lowkey the first time I tiered up on this series. Great build-up🥲💕
