Æsir

He immediately hugged Sylphie as she said it precisely because of that

Kindyh Bordat

We all love Geese, he is truly the goat.

Kindyh Bordat

In the light novel, Rudeus's paranoia really gets the better of him. To test if his newborn daughter is also a reincarnate from Earth, he tries speaking to her in English and Japanese, saying random words to catch her offguard. Ultimately, he just ends up looking completely foolish when she responds with normal baby babble while while Aisha spied on the whole thing XD.

Zen

Mhmm, I understand that you feel bad for Sylphie right now, but I can tell and confirm that the true matriarch of the Greyrat family is no other than Sylphie Greyrat. If she says the sky is red, then the sky is red. If she says "jump", then the other Greyrats would say "how high?", Rudeus included lmao.

About why Rudy was fine after the spell. In a Q&A, the author said that if we say that Roxy's mana pool is the size of a hamburger, then Rudy's mana pool is the size of the moon. Badigadi also mentioned back in Season 2 part 1, when they met, that his mana capacity is probably greater than Laplace's.

Kindyh Bordat

Rudeus genuinely struggled with Thunder. What got him there was that he already understood how lightning actually forms, MT magic runs on mental imagery, so knowing the real mechanism gives him a reference no native mage has. And it's the same core image as Stone Cannon: compress something until it does violence. He'd been drilling that visualization for years already. Of course his mana pool helped a lot, he was loosing control multiple times but added mana when he failed to stabilize it. As for turning point 4, there is a high chance it doesn't show on the title (Or i hope so) it really depends on the direction of the episode(s), but you guys aren't ready either way.

Dragons like Bananas

About Emperor class magic, in the LN the fireball Rudy used on Orsted was considered unofficial Emperor rank and it's mentioned how that whole mountain area would have been destroyed had Orsted not absorbed the attack. (Unofficial because the spell itself is categorized as a beginner spell but Rudy is able to enhance it by pouring more mana into it making the output similar to emperor class )

Zak

To add a little context to the ED. Sunflower floral language is adoration, loyalty, and unwavering devotion.

Zak

This season is similar to the first season as it is separate into two parts. Cour 1 would be 14 episodes Cour 2 would be 13 episodes

Oasis

@95ArOm Delete this. It's a subtle spoiler

Oasis

By the way, this is never explained even in the novels, but it's assumed that the seeds Aisha planted became a monster (a treant) because Rudeus had made the soil for the plant itself. He's got so much mana that the soil he made with magic became so mana rich, it literally turned the seed into a monster. And you hit the nail on the head. The reason why Roxy didn't want to teach Rudy King-tier water magic is because it was the only thing she, as his teacher, is better than him at. Even though Rudy can technically make any basic spell Emperor-tier by dumping a bunch of mana in it, the people of the world (incorrectly) still view it as basic-tier magic. But learning a spell that's specifically King-tier officially makes him a King-tier mage, even though he's long surpassed that level unofficially. Remember, Orsted (the Dragon God) said that Rudy had a similar mana capacity to Laplace, the Demon God - making his capacity one of the greatest ever

Zak

One rather “unfortunate” trait at this point among the Rudy household is insecurity. To simplify slightly, Sylphy thinks Roxy and Rudy have more talent than her and she is “fortunate” to reunite with Rudy during his low point (ED arc) Roxy is very guilty of how she manage to join the family and will always defer to Sylphy when she is around. As for Rudy, his internal value of himself is significantly lower than how others view him. As he thinks he own a lot of his success for being reincarnated and getting a head starts. Therefore, he always view people around him to be better than him as they manage to achieve more than he did during his past life. That’s why they are a lot of awkward interactions and unspoken feelings.

Fabien

Yeah honestly I'm not against the concept of having a main character with multiple wives if that's common in their world/culture, but I think it's not handled well here (these two last episodes). I would have liked other dialogues, other words to manage the tensions. I think it could have been done in a more satisfactory way. The rest of those 2 slice of life episodes was perfect tho.

Oasis

Wes' reaction to the horse 😭😭😭

Oasis

I wasn't responding to you. I was talking about the other guy that responded to your comment

protra

I feel for Roxy this episode. She spent so many years reaching king-class water mage after being inspired by Rudy, and even after mastering the lightning spell she can only do it 80 % of the time. With Rudeus constantly putting her on a pedestal she probably has imposter syndrome, and being a higher water level is the one thing she has above him. It's no wonder she hesitates teaching him, especially since she might even fail casting it and fear him becoming disillusioned. The main reason Rudeus cherishes her is that she cured his agoraphobia, taught him not to fear people, and gave him something to be proud of, but when bragging to other people he only mentions how she is a great teacher and mentor. He is definitely being a poor husband with how he handles their insecurities. He should properly address the worries his wives bring up. While yes, third episode started with him loudly declaring that he loves both, when they bring it up again later he should double down instead of quietly decide to prove it with actions instead of words. Him breaking his earlier promise to be faithful probably weights on him, but he should still verbalize it. Sure he might not have ended up with Sylphie if things went differently, but that's true of any relationship. But it also makes sense why he's bad at handling this situation.

Kindyh Bordat

Mb, patreon said it was a response to my comment sorry.

DocGreen

While self-deprication is a main theme among the greyrat household Imabd sylphiette is definitely part of that. I think you guys misinterpreted a bit. Sylphy was more saying how lucky she is and if it weren't for Roxy teaching Rudy she never would've been taught by Rudy and would've died during the displacement. Roxy and Rudy felt similarly saying if it wasn't for sylphy Roxy never would've gotten excepted and Rudy would've never been been forgiven and still may have had ED. Rudy chose not to say anything because it really would've just been him trying to make sylphy feel better with words rather than action. Maybe the wrong move but I see his point of view

NoSoupRice

As much of an amazing character writer author is, romance is definitely not his strong suit. I hate to bring up events a season ago, but I also share this sentiment with how Roxy ended up his wife in the first place. Just wasn't handled that well.

NoSoupRice

The reaction to Lilia saying Lucy reminds her of Rudy lol. Even disregarding the idea that she may be reincarnated, I imagine any child being reminiscent of Rudeus would be a giant red flag

Fabien

That's quite a statement, because the moon is far bigger than people realize (it's just farther than most people assume, but it's a very big satellite for a relatively small planet like ours). Maybe I'm taking his statement a little too literally, because it would be really, really crazy. But I'm having fun (lol) so I asked chatgpt and you'd need 56 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 hamburgers to equal the size of the moon, which means Rudy could cast 5.6x10^23 king-class spells before running out of mana. But you'd need more billion years than the age of the universe itself to have the time to cast so many spells (even the age of the universe a million times wouldn't be enough). Yeah I don't think the author thought a crazy guy would try to fact check him on a patreon comment !

Fabien

Very nice, I really want to see two crazy arcs (the second one is as far as I went in the light novel back then), and I think it will be enough episodes ! I assume [***SPOILER, for novel readers only***] Part 1 will include the Asuran succession conflict. Part 2 will include hitogami's betrayal and the crazy fight with Orsted. It would be awesome.

Rank Title Scale 1 Beginner / Elementary Basic mana manipulation. 2 Intermediate Advanced mana manipulation. 3 Advanced Complex mana manipulation. Generally large area of effect. 4 Saintly / Holy Large scale complex mana manipulation. Usually spells that affects the weather. 5 Kingly Builds upon Saint-class Magic by increasing its effectiveness. 6 Imperial / Emperor Further enhances the scale of King-class Magic 7 Divine / God Continental scale magic.

Quinn

Yea the author is pretty chill (from what i've seen at least) so I probably wouldnt take it so literally

Tim Tim

True, it's a huge problem in their family and it kinda continues on and on

Tim Tim

@Oasis you reacting is kinda a spoiler, he's reaction could be that he's just glad someone has same opinion as his. I think you and I should remove comments tbh

Rostislav

What a wonderful and peaceful family—they all lived long and happy lives, and died on the same day 🙌

Rostislav

@Fabien SPOILER! Isn't it the other way around? First Hitogami/Orsted, then the kingdom? When he was on his way to the kingdom with the princess, he was already with Orsted.

John Spartan

She choose the tree precisely to hit a target, that's part of the mastering the spell. Plenty of good comments about the Greyrats already, I'll just say that I find a good choice to write how awkward the three of them are and how they are still finding their role, boundaries and space in the family/partner dynamic.

TheSlothSmile

I love the character growth in this show, and how the author now plays with our predespositions of thinking rudy is trying to do something pervy but I think he's pretty much gone full circle of when he was a kid and started learning magic, he wants to grow his power to protect his family and friends.

The Anime Dude

Dad y’all ever react to the S2 Openings or na? I remember they were really spoiler heavy for the season but should be good to now if y’all ever so choose.

James Esparza

Yeah, he couldn't really say anything without possibly hurting someone's feelings haha

XDrakeX

He hugged Sylphie to reaffirm her that its not true. And we as watchers also know that its not true just like Roxy said. Rudy was about to drop Roxy and go back to Sylphie after the cheating if Elinalise hadnt told him about the pregnancy and that marriage is actually possible. It was the best thing for Rudy to not say anything here because of that sentence he was thinking 25:57: Any promise I make to cherish them will come off as empty words. So I'll let my actions speak for me. That was perfect. He is a great husband and both his wives have already confirmed that. They both were saved by him and he was also saved by both of them.

Michael Rivera

That is true role wise but for Rudeus he loves his wives equally. None is superior than the other.

Folded Ghoul

the ways spells work in this world build upon one another. Rudy initially thought she was casting a Saint Class spell she taught him to graduate as her student-- she then added a couple of lines. So the way to think about it is you can always alter spells by changing small diction within the pre existing spell. That is how Rudy makes all of his original spells. He knows the incantations, he does study really hard after all, he just only needs to say them aloud the first time it seems, then he incorporates within his body. That is shown whenever the show does that xray look on him and his veins pulse.
