to break it down: protestants (not all but many) wanted to remain in union with Britain, so yeah union flag was a big rallying point. catholics (not all but many) wanted to unify Ireland, so used the irish tricolour.

Is it possible for you guys to re-upload the ChrisMD videos you reacted to on here? I know you had to remove the Sidemen videos, but I think the ChrisMD reactions were in the same collection, so got deleted at the same time. No worries if it's not possible, thanks!

Poor katya 😂 Only sane person in this show haha! Also in case it wasn’t clear, she really was trying to organise a present, she wasn’t lying! I’d also go live with jenny joyce if i was her 😂 What did you mean when you said the Ukraine isn’t christian, steph? Nowadays, 85% identify as christian, mostly orthodox. I think that’s why she said “different flavours of same religion” - catholics, protestants and orthodox people are all christian. And yes, like wes said, the symbols were the union jack vs the irish tricolour

During/after the reformation, Ireland remained Catholic while Britain became Protestant. To try keep control of Ireland, the crown took land from the Irish and gave it to English/Scottish landlords with this only really being successful in Ulster (province making up the northern part of the island) which is why it was partitioned and remained in the UK after the Irish War of Independence. Numerous rights were also taken away from the native Irish. There's Republicans (who want to unite Northern Ireland and the Republic) and Unionists who want to keep it within the UK. The religious aspect comes from protestants being descendents of those British plantations and therefore likely to be unionists, and catholics likely being descendents of the native Irish and likely being Republicans. So more of an identifier, though there was also forced segregation between the two and rights denied from Catholics at the time which would have boosted the animosity. There can be catholics and protestants on either side though.

Best episode so far for me. Orla is lowkey my favorite out of the gang. I love her dry, deadpan sense of humor.

That made me laugh—Steph talks as if communism had replaced Christianity, as if it were a different religion 😂 I don’t know, maybe Catholics and Protestants are somewhat hostile toward other denominations, but to me, as an Orthodox, it’s all Christianity

I didn't expect that episode with my country. In reality, Katya wouldn't speak English and wouldn't understand them 😂, because in the USSR, they taught very little English, and only how to read As for the locals in the episode thinking that Ukraine has no TV or technology, that’s very realistic. Refugees often said that Europeans thought Ukraine was some kind of wilderness with no toilets, electricity, high-rises, and so on 💀 It's even funnier because Western Europeans are always making fun of Americans for not knowing anything beyond their own country's borders, even though they're just the same lol

Wes And Steph

I’m afraid we lost them when everything was deleted! 😞 there was no way to back save the catalogue

I mean, I kinda see where she was coming from since communism is heavily linked to atheism and the USSR was officially an atheist state
